옵티컬 라이브러리 시스템에서의 어드레싱을 위한 광학 문자 인식 알고리즘 제안 (Optical Character Recognition for Addressing in Optical Library System)

  • Optical library system consists of disc magazines, cabinets, transfer robot and drive. Transfer robot delivers desired disc or magazine in cabinet to drive which reads data of disc. Conventional archive system stores discs in a line and transfer robot moves in one dimension. However, to store more discs, new optical archive system, optical library system, is developed which stores discs in two dimension like bookcase. Transfer robot should know the position and stored data of desired magazine to get correct data. In this paper, addressing algorithm using optical character recognition is proposed. Proposed algorithm is evaluated by experiments with implemented system.

Comparison of Efficiency for Different Switching Tables in Six-Phase Induction Motor DTC Drive

  • In this paper, different switching tables proposed for the Direct Torque Controlled (DTC) of a six-phase induction machine are simulated and implemented. A six-phase induction motor has 64 space voltage vectors which result in increased complexity in the selecting of inverters switching. The unsuitable selection of a switching table leads to large harmonics especially at low speed and it also reduces drive efficiency. A six-phase induction machine has large zero sequence harmonic currents of the order $6{\kappa}{\pm}1$. These harmonic currents are varied in various techniques. Decreasing this loss is essential in a six-phase induction machine. The main purpose of this paper is to improve the ST-DTC of six-phase induction machines to reduce the voltage and current harmonics and the torque pulsation. Selecting a suitable method for minimizing these harmonics is very important.

  • Using a disturbance observer is effective in enhancing the performance of dynamic system in presence of disturbances. Although various types of disturbance observers have been proposed to improve sensitivity of systems, there exist poor transient responses due to cross-couplings among disturbance observer loops. In this paper, dual disturbance observer (DOB) is proposed to reduce the effects of the cross-couplings. A different type of loop transfer function is proposed for external disturbance observer. While improving the sensitivity function by adding external DOB, it also provides improved complementary sensitivity function. The proposed dual DOB is applied to a commercial optical disk drive tracking system. It is shown that the dual DOB is an effective method in rejecting the effect of disturbance as well as improving the tracking performance.

  • This paper investigated the speed sensorless indirect vector control of a two-phase induction motor to implement adjustable-speed drive for low-power applications. The sliding mode observer estimates rotor speed. The convergence of the nonlinear time-varying observer along with the asymptotic stability of the controller was analyzed. To define the control action which maintains the motion on the sliding manifold, an 'equivalent control' concept was used. It was simulated and implemented on a sensorless indirect vector drive for 150W two-phase induction motor. The simulation and experimental results demonstrated effectiveness of the estimation method.

  • This paper deals with a design experience of Control Element Drive Mechanism (CEDM) that is used to withdraw or insert control rods in nuclear reactor. The design is carried out to satisfy the performance requirements for CEDM that were given to ensure reliable and secure actions of the rods. The electrical parameters for four coils that energize the mechanical actuators in CEDM are determined first, Then a computer simulation for CEDM with these coils is performed to see how it works. An adjustment of the coil parameters is made from the simulation results. Finally, it is shown that our final design is valid to guarantee the required performance since the FEM(finite Element Method) calculation shows sufficient vertical attraction forces of a lift armature and a latch magnet, and good dynamics with a full load.

  • A main research topic in PWM inverter drive system is to reduce the generated acoustic noise. One method to reduce the acoustic noise is to cause the switching pattern to be random. This RPWM(Random Pulse Width Modulation) technique for voltage controlled inverters is a kind of good solutions for reduction of acoustic noise and suppression of vibration. This paper describes a carrier frequency modulated real-time RPWM inverter. Changing the carrier frequency randomly, the power spectrum of tile acoustic noise was spread over the wide-band area. And experimental results showed that emitted noise is much more comportable and less annoying

  • Linear induction motor(LIM) is widely used to drive magnetic levitation train. To drive LIM, different control method compared with conventional rotary type machine is needed. Since vertical force is generated inherently and it effects on the levitation system, vertical force should be kept constant for stable levitation. To keep vertical force constant, slip frequency should be kept constant. Once slip frequency is kept constant, tractive force can be controlled by adjusting motor currents. In this paper, control methods used so far arc analyzed with some experimental results and decoupling control algorithm is proposed to control tractive and vertical force separately. Control algorithm is verified through simulation.

  • New methods are studied that can suppress EMI noises, especially common mode currents produced in the motor drive system. One is a packaging technique that forms power converters using a four-layer printed power circuit board. The other is a method based on the generation mechanism of common mode currents which was developed from experimental analyses. It is proved by experiments that the former can effectively control common mode currents, including radiated emissions, and the latter can suppress them without any compensators between the inverter and the motor.

  • This paper proposes a method to calculate the static characteristics of the FDBs with the curved surface. The general Reynolds equations are derived for the curved surfaces in the ${\theta}s$ plane. And the Reynolds equation is transformed to the finite element equations by considering the continuity of pressure and flow at the interface between the curved, journal and the thrust bearings. It also includes the Reynolds boundary condition in the numerical analysis to simulate the cavitation phenomenon. The static characteristics of the coupled journal and conical bearings were investigated due to the variation of conical angle. It shows that the conical angle is one of the important design parameters affecting the static and dynamic characteristics of FBBs.
