Analysis of Sheet Metal Forming for Non-Axisymmetric Deep Drawing Products (비축대칭 디프 드로잉 제품의 박판 성형 해석)

  • In order to obtain the optimal products in deep drawing process, elliptical deep drawing tests were carried out with several shape radii of the punch and die. As parameters on testing, shape radii of the punch and die were selected. In addition, the conventional shape radii have been determined by trial-and-error using industrial experience and post processing test, and only approximate shape radii of the punch and die have been presented. The optimal shape radii of the punch and die in elliptical deep drawing process with biaxisymmetric blank shape are proposed. In this study, we suggest the appropriate conditions to be applicable to the actual manufacturing processes through the experiment and finite element method.

  • This study investigated the environmental awareness synthetically with the drawing activity for making up for the weak points in the writing test that cannot measure emotional aspects. This study found that students have negative viewpoints on reasonable judgement for the present and future environment of the earth, while they show hope to live in better environment in their mind. Furthermore, it found that the drawing activity can be adopted as a complement for the traditional measuring method of the environmental awareness, through which this middle school students' sensibility to the environment can be shown. It also inferred that the drawing activity can be used as a way of education during school classes for environment and it can increase the sensibility to the environment in mind.

  • In this research, we developed a pilot wire-drawing machine as well as wire end-pointing roller. Using these machines, we performed a pilot wire-drawing test at different coating material and lubricant when the reduction ratio is 10 %. To inversely compute the friction coefficient between the coating layer of wire and the surface of die for a specific lubricant, we carried out a series of three dimensional finite element analysis. Results show that the drawing force is varied with the coating material of wire at the same reduction ratio and lubricant. It is noted that the frictional coefficient in drawing is dependent on the coupled property of coating material and lubricant, indicating the best coating material for a given lubricant.

  • To analyze the dynamic characteristics of the bundle drawing process, we employed a Random Phase Spectrum method to generate stochastic test signals that had a given autocorrelation function. And the spectra of the dynamics of the process outputs were obtained, based on the dynamic model of the bundle drawing process. Results showed that the RPS method was very effective to generate stochastic signals that had an exponential function form. The drawing process had the traits that there existed a special frequency range, incurring the process resonance.

  • Most of researches for deep drawing process have been performed on the formability of axisymmetric blank, but there is an insufficient study on the formability of non-axisymmetric blank. In addition, the conventional blank shape has been determined by the trial-and-error method using industrial experience and post processing test. Therefore only approximated shape of the blank can be presented. In this study, the optimal blank shape and concrete drafting method in deep drawing process with biaxisymmetric elliptical shape is proposed. Through the deep drawing experiment, it is found that the optimal blank shape gives the most uniform thickness of the products in the first process

  • Recently, most of researches for sheet metal deep drawing process have been performed on the formability of axisymmetric shape, but there are not any concrete reports on the formability of non-axisymmetric shape. In addition, the conventional shape radius of the punch and die has been determined by trial-and-error using industrial experience and post processing test, and only approximate shape radius of the punch and die has been presented. In this study, the optimal shape radius of the punch and die in deep drawing process with biaxisymmetric blank shape is proposed. Through the deep drawing experiment, especially it is found that in order to obtain the optimal products, and improvement of formability can be researched by selection of such punch and die shape radius that gives an adequate thickness distribution in all processes.

  • Deep drawing of magnesium alloy sheet is conducted at elevated temperatures($200{\sim}300^{\circ}C$) to improve the press formability because of low formability at room temperature. Then magnesium alloy sheet formability is known to be very sensitive to the strain rate. In this paper, we conducted warm deep drawing tests of magnesium alloy AZ31 sheet for various punch velocities. We examined the forming velocity effect on the deep drawing formability and the correlation with the tensile test result.

  • In this paper a computer-aided design system for axisymmetric deep drawing process will be described. An approach to the system is based on the knowledge based system. The system has been written in AutoLISP with personal computer. The system is composed of four main modules such as input geometrical design test & rectification and user modification. the system which aids designer provides powerful capabilities for the design of axisymmetric deep drawing process.

Prediction of Shape Recovery for Ni-Ti SMA Wire after Drawing (Ni-Ti 형상기억합금 선재의 인발 공정 후 형상회복 예측에 관한 연구)

  • The aim of the current study was to predict shape recovery behavior of Ni-Ti shape memory alloy (SMA) wire after loading-unloading and after wire drawing. The superelasticity of SMA was analyzed by a hyper-elastic model for the Mullins effect using ABAQUS. Firstly, tensile tests and loading-unloading tests of the Ni-Ti SMA wire with a diameter 1.0 mm were performed using an MTS servo-hydraulic tester. The parameters for the Mullins effect were computed by ABAQUS based on curve-fitting of the loading-unloading test data. The proposed FE-model predicted the shape recovery of Ni-Ti SMA after wire drawing. Finally, the effectiveness of the model was verified by drawing experiments. The wire drawing experiments using the Ni-Ti SMA were conducted on a drawing machine(1ton, 50mm/s). In order to evaluate the shape recovery of Ni-Ti SMA, the drawn wires are annealed for 30min at $450^{\circ}C$.
