A typically designed 'Peptide Lego' has two distinct surfaces: a hydrophilic side that contains the complete charge distribution and a hydrophobic side. In this article, we describe the fabrication of a unique lego-type peptide with the AEAEYAKAK sequence. The novel peptide with double amphiphilic surfaces is different from typical peptides due to special arrangement of the residues. The results of CD, FT-IR, AFM and DLS demonstrate that the peptide with the random coil characteristic was able to form stable nanostructures that were mediated by non-covalent interactions in an aqueous solution. The data further indicated that despite its different structure, the peptide was able to undergo self-assembly similar to a typical peptide. In addition, the use of hydrophobic pyrene as a model allowed the peptide to provide a new type of potential nanomaterial for drug delivery. These efforts collectively open up a new direction in the fabrication of nanomaterials that are more perfect and versatile.

In this paper, the performance about the CDMA inital synchronization under the Rician fading channel, which is actively studied as a CAI for IMT2000(FPLMTS) is analyzed. Through the performance analysis with the double dwell serial search code acquisition, the minimum mean initial synchronization acquisition time vs signal detection threshold value and first dwell duration time respectively with parameters of false alarm probability, detection probability and test PN chips is presented and the results show the mean initial synchronization acquisition time is increased with lower slope than Rayleigh fading as the threshold value of the initial synchronization acquisition decision is increased.
Argonaute 2 (AtAGO2) is a well characterized effector protein in Arabidopsis for its functionalities associated with DNA double-strand break (DSB)-induced small RNAs (diRNAs) and for its inducible expression upon ${\gamma}$-irradiation. However, its transcriptional regulation depending on the recovery time after the irradiation and on the specific response to DSBs has been poorly understood. We analyzed the 1,313 bp promoter sequence of the AtAGO2 gene ($1.3kb_{pro}$) to characterize the transcriptional regulation of AtAGO2 at various recovery times after ${\gamma}$-irradiation. A stable transformant harboring $1.3kb_{pro}$ fused with GUS gene showed that the AtAGO2 is highly expressed in response to ${\gamma}$-irradiation, after which the expression of the gene is gradually decreased until 5 days of DNA damage recovery. We also confirm that the AtAGO2 expression patterns are similar to that of ${\gamma}$-irradiation after the treatments of radiomimetic genotoxins (bleomycin and zeocin). However, methyl methanesulfonate and mitomycin C, which are associated with the inhibition of DNA replication, do not induce the expression of the AtAGO2, suggesting that the expression of the AtAGO2 is closely related with DNA DSBs rather than DNA replication.
Micro-scale magnetic beads are widely used for isolation of proteins, DNA, and cells, leading to the development of in vitro diagnostics. Efficient isolation of target biomolecules is one of the keys to developing a simple and rapid point-of-care diagnostic. A zinc finger protein (ZFP) is a double-stranded (ds) DNA-binding domain, providing a useful scaffold for direct reading of the sequence information. Here, we utilized two engineered ZFPs (Stx2-268 and SEB-435) to detect the Shiga toxin (stx2) gene and the staphylococcal enterotoxin B (seb) gene present in foodborne pathogens, Escherichia coli O157 and Staphylococcus aureus, respectively. Engineered ZFPs are immobilized on a paramagnetic bead as a detection platform to efficiently isolate the target dsDNA-ZFP bound complex. The small paramagnetic beads provide a high surface area to volume ratio, allowing more ZFPs to be immobilized on the beads, which leads to increased target DNA detection. The fluorescence signal was measured upon ZFP binding to fluorophore-labeled target dsDNA. In this study, our system provided a detection limit of ≤ 60 fmol and demonstrated high specificity with multiplexing capability, suggesting a potential for development into a simple and reliable diagnostic for detecting multiple pathogens without target amplification.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate if double inversion recovery (DIR) imaging can have a role in the evaluation of brain ischemia, compared with diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) imaging. Materials and Methods: Sixty-seven patients within 48 hours of onset, underwent MRI scans with FLAIR, DWI with b-value of 0 (B0) and $1000s/mm^2$, and DIR sequences. Patients were categorized into four groups: within three hours, three to six hours, six to 24 hours, and 24 to 48 hours after onset. Lesion-to-normal ratio (LNR) value was calculated and compared among all sequences within each group, by the Friedman test and conducted among all groups, for each sequence by the Kruskal-Wallis test. In qualitative assessment, signal intensity changes of DIR, B0, and FLAIR based on similarity with DWI and image quality of each sequence, were graded on a 3-point scale, respectively. Scores for detectability of lesions were compared by the McNemar's test. Results: LNR values from DWI were higher than DIR, but not statistically significant in all groups (P > 0.05). LNR values of DIR were significantly higher than FLAIR within 24 hours of onset (P < 0.05). LNR values were significantly different between, before, and after six hours onset time for DIR (P = 0.016), B0 (P = 0.008), and FLAIR (P = 0.018) but not for DWI (P = 0.051). Qualitative analysis demonstrated that detectability of DIR was higher, compared to that of FLAIR within 4.5 hours and six hours of onset (P < 0.05). Also, the DWI quality score was lower than that of DIR, particularly relative to infratentorial lesions. Conclusion: DIR provides higher detectability of hyperacute brain ischemia than B0 and FLAIR, and does not suffer from susceptibility artifact, unlike DWI. So, DIR can be used to replace evaluation of the FLAIR-DWI mismatch.
Elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) can achieve relatively good security with a smaller key length, making it suitable for Internet of Things (IoT) devices. DNA-based encryption has also been proven to have good security. To develop a more secure and stable cryptography technique, we propose a new hybrid DNA-encoded ECC scheme that provides multilevel security. The DNA sequence is selected, and using a sorting algorithm, a unique set of nucleotide groups is assigned. These are directly converted to binary sequence and then encrypted using the ECC; thus giving double-fold security. Using several examples, this paper shows how this complete method can be realized on IoT devices. To verify the performance, we implement the complete system on the embedded platform of a Raspberry Pi 3 board, and utilize an active sensor data input to calculate the time and energy required for different data vector sizes. Connectivity and resilience analysis prove that DNA-mapped ECC can provide better security compared to ECC alone. The proposed method shows good potential for upcoming IoT technologies that require a smaller but effective security system.
In this paper, the transmission of an improper-complex second-order stationary data sequence is considered over a strictly band-limited frequency-selective channel. It is assumed that the transmitter employs linear modulation and that the channel output is corrupted by additive proper-complex cyclostationary noise. Under the average transmit power constraint, the problem of minimizing the mean-squared error at the output of a widely linear receiver is formulated in the time domain to find the optimal transmit and receive waveforms. The optimization problem is converted into a frequency-domain problem by using the vectorized Fourier transform technique and put into the form of a double minimization. First, the widely linear receiver is optimized that requires, unlike the linear receiver design with only one waveform, the design of two receive waveforms. Then, the optimal transmit waveform for the linear modulator is derived by introducing the notion of the impropriety frequency function of a discrete-time random process and by performing a line search combined with an iterative algorithm. The optimal solution shows that both the periodic spectral correlation due to the cyclostationarity and the symmetric spectral correlation about the origin due to the impropriety are well exploited.

Grapevine leafroll-associated 1 virus (GLRaV-1) and Grapevine leafroll-associated 3 virus (GLRaV-3), member of the genus Ampelovirus, are important viral disease of grapevine in the world. these viruses transmitted only dicotyledonous host by vectors such as mealybugs and there is no suitable herbaceous host for virus. The diseased leaves turn yellowish or reddish depending on cultivars and viruses. Viruses are existed at low concentration and ununiformly distribution in grapevine. Using small-scale double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) extraction method, reverse transcription and polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) product of 1Kb long which encoded of coat protein (CP) gene for both viruses was successfully amplified with a specific primers. The RT-PCR product was cloned into the plasmid vector and its nucleotide sequences were determined from selected recombinant cDNA clones. Sequence analysis revealed that the CP of GLRaV-1 consisted of 969 nucleotide, which encoded 323 amino acid residues and CP of GLRaV-3 consisted of 942 nucleotide, which encoded 314 amino acid residues. The CP of GLRaV-1 and GLRaV-3 has 93.8% and 98.7% amino acid sequence identities, respectively.
The chromosomes of all the world are the same in all 24 pairs, but the key, skin color and appearance are different. Also, it is the resistance of adult disease, diabetes, cancer. In 1953, Watson, Crick of Cambridge University experimentally discovered a DNA double helix structure, and in 1962, They laureates the Nobel Prize. In 1964, Temin, University of Wisconsin, USA, experimentally identified the ability to copy gene information from RNA to DNA and received the Nobel Prize in 1975. In this paper, we analyzed 24 pairs of DNA chromosomes using mathematical matrices based on the combination order sequence of four groups, and designed the Taegeuk pattern genetic code for the first time in the world. In the case of normal persons, the middle Yin-Yang taegeuk is designed as a block circulant Jacket matrix in DNA, and the left-right and upper-lower pairs of east-west and north-south rulings are designed as pair complementary matrices. If (C U: A G) chromosomes are unbalanced, that is, people with disease or inheritance become squashed squirming patterns. In 2017, Professor Michel Young was awarded a Nobel by presenting a biological clock and experimentally explained the bio-imbalance through a yellow fruit fly experiment. This study proved mathematical matrices for balanced and unbalanced RNA.
We presented the accurate absolute dimensions and distances of fifteen main sequence eclipsing binaries. The photometric and spectroscopic solutions of the binary systems were determined by analyzing light curves and radial velocity curves collected from the literature using the Wilson-Devinney computer code. The fifteen double-line spectroscopic binaries consist of nine detached systems; QX Car, AH Cep, CW Cep, ZZ Cep, XY Cet, RX Her, V451 Oph, VV Pyx and V760 Sco, six semi-detached systems; LY Aur, IU Aur, AO Cas, DM Per, V Pup and HU Tau. The temperatures of the binary systems were determined from their colors using the color-temperature calibrations. Then the temperature of each component star were determined using the temperature ratio which was adjusted from the light curves. We estimated the possible Z values and ages for the detached systems by adopting the Y2 (Yonsei-Yale) stellar evolutionary tracks. The derived distances are in good agreement of the Hipparcos distances whose error of parallax is within 10 %. Finally these well-investigated systems will be used as the standard eclipsing binaries.
