  • Recently, XML has been widely used as a standard for a data exchange, and there has emerged the tendency that the size of XML document becomes larger. The data transfer can cause problems due to the increase in traffic, especially when a massive data such as Data Warehouse is being collected and analyzed. Therefore, an XMDR wrapper can solve this problem since it analyzes the tree structures of XML Schema, regenerates XML Schema using the analyzed tree structures, and sends it to each station with an XMDR Query. XML documents which are returned as an outcome encode XML tags according to XML Schema, and send standardized messages. As the formalized XML documents decrease network traffic and comprise XML class information, they are efficient for extraction, conversion, and alignment of data. In addition, they are efficient for the conversion process through XSLT, too, as they have standardized forms. In this paper we profuse a method in which XML Schema and XMDR_Query sent to each station are generated through XMDR(extended Meta-Data Registry) and the generation of products and XML conversion occur in each station wrapper.

  • The aim of this essay was to investigate Marlow's desire for constructing enlightenment subject of knowledge and power sustained by the collusion of imperialism and patriarchy in Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness. Marlow's narrative, based on his journey up the river in Africa to retrieve Kurtz, attempts to conceptualize himself as the subject of the enlightenment reason and rationality. In the novella, collusive network of ideologies of empire and gender contributes to the making of a Western Enlightenment subject. Marlow eulogizes himself for realizing the harsh realities of imperialism, political domination and economic exploitation of the natives in Africa. However, Marlow is a colonial subject who has been ruled by the hierarchical system of thought in the Western logocentrism. He is not aware that his narrative has already been infiltrated by the ideological discourse of the totalitarian enlightenment. His narrative in effect is not a self-congratulatory testimony to truth and realities but a narcissistic and self-defeating document. Marlow unconsciously employs the totalitarian ideologies of empire and gender in order to relegate the African natives to the inhuman existence and to consign women to the sphere of illusion.

  • The most of the IR focus on the method for searching the document, so the keyword-based IR system is not able to reflect the feature information of the image. In order to overcome these limitations, we have developed a system that can search similar images based on the vector information of images, and it can search for similar images based on sketches. The proposed system uses the GAN to up sample the sketch to the image level, convert the image to the vector through the CNN, and then retrieve the similar image using the vector space model. The model was learned using fashion image and the image retrieval system was developed. As a result, the result is showed meaningful performance.

  • With the proliferation of artificial intelligence technology, it is becoming important to obtain, store, and utilize scientific data in research and science sectors. A number of methods for extracting meaningful objects such as graphs and tables from research articles have been proposed to eventually obtain scientific data. Existing extraction methods using heuristic approaches are hardly applicable to electronic documents having heterogeneous manuscript formats because they are designed to work properly for some targeted manuscripts. This paper proposes a prototype of an object extraction system which exploits a recent deep-learning technology so as to overcome the inflexibility of the heuristic approaches. We implemented our trained model, based on the Faster R-CNN algorithm, using the Google TensorFlow Object Detection API and also composed an annotated data set from 100 research articles for training and evaluation. Finally, a performance evaluation shows that the proposed system outperforms a comparator adopting heuristic approaches by 5.2%.

  • As the use of the internet increases, the distribution of spam mail has also vastly increased. The email's main use was for the exchange of information, however, currently it is being more frequently used for advertisement and malware distribution. This is a serious problem because it consumes a large amount of the limited internet resources. Furthermore, an extensive amount of computer, network and human resources are consumed to prevent it. As a result much research is being done to prevent and filter spam. Currently, research is being done on readable sentences which do not use proper grammar. This type of spam can not be classified by previous vocabulary analysis or document classification methods. This paper proposes a method to filter spam by using the subject of the mail and N-GRAM for indexing and Bayesian, SVM algorithms for classification.

  • As research has been published to predict future data using regression analysis or artificial intelligence as a method of analyzing economic indicators. In this study, we designed a system that predicts prospective futures prices using artificial intelligence that utilizes topic probability data obtained from past news articles using topic modeling. Topic probability distribution data for each news article were obtained using the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) method that can extract the topic of a document from past news articles via unsupervised learning. Further, the topic probability distribution data were used as the input for a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network, a derivative of Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN) in artificial intelligence, in order to predict prospective futures prices. The method proposed in this study was able to predict the trend of futures prices. Later, this method will also be able to predict the trend of prices for derivative products like options. However, because statistical errors occurred for certain data; further research is required to improve accuracy.

  • XML has become a do facto standard for structured document and data on the Web. An XML data deluge over the network will be more, since XML based standards such as Web Service and Semantic Web gets popular. There are efforts to store and query XML documents in a relational database system and recent efforts focus on how to provide such operations using XPath and XQuery. In this paper, we present study about those research efforts and we propose a new scheme to stoγe and query XML documents in a relational database using XPath query. The scheme uses a 'shred' method to store and translates XPath queries to SQL. We also present our empirical experiments using a RDBMS.

  • This study analyzes the relationship of citations appearing in the patent data to understand knowledge transfers and impacts between patent documents in the field of pharmaceutical research. Patent data were collected from a website, Google Patents. The top 25 assignees were selected by searching for patent documents related to pharmaceutical research. We identify the citation relationships between assignees, then calculate and compare the values of h-index and derived indicators by using the number of citations and rank for each document of each assignee. As a result, in the case of pharmaceutical research, the assignee, such as 'Pfizer, MIT, and Abbott' shows a high impact. Among the five bibliometric indicators, the g-index and hS-index show similar results, and the indicators are the most related to the rankings of Total Citation Frequency, Cites per Patents, and Maximum Citation Frequency. In addition, it is highly related to the five indicators in the order of Total Citation Frequency, Cites per Patents, and Maximum Citation Frequency. In some cases, it is difficult to make an accurate comparison with Cites per Patents alone, which is previously known to indicate the technological influence of patent assignees.
