  • This study investigates the resilient structural characteristics of a region by assessing the impact of the financial crisis. Utilizing panel data at the prefecture level for metropolitan cities across pre-shock (2006-2008), shock (2009), and post-shock (2010-2019) periods, we calculated an employment resilience index by combining the resistance and recovery indices. The panel logit regression measures the influences of the region's industrial structure and external economic factors in response to the global financial crisis. The results revealed that the diversity index of industries contributed to the post-shock recovery bounce-back. Additionally, the presence of large firms and industrial clusters within the region positively contributed to economic resilience. The specialization and the proportion of manufacturing industries showed negative effects, suggesting that regions overly reliant on manufacturing-centered specialization might be vulnerable to external shocks. Furthermore, excessive capital outflows for market expansion were found to have a detrimental impact on regional economic recovery.

  • In this paper, the new technique combining beamforming with space-time coding is proposed for an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) system with multi-input multi-output(MIMO). When MIMO-OFDM system is employing Nt(the number of transmitterantenna) beamfomers and one S-T decoder at Nr receiver antennas, Nt signals removed CCI are outputted at the beamformer and then diversity gain can be got through space-time decoding. As the proposed technique can reduce cochannel interference and get diversity gain in the multi-user environment, the performance of MIMO-OFDM system is very improved. BER performance improvement and convergence behavior of the proposed approach are investigated through computer simulation by applying it to MIMO-OFDM system in the multi-user environment.

  • This paper theoretically and empirically explores the reliability gain that can be obtained by installing multiple antennas in on-vehicle broadcasting receivers. Analytical derivations reveal that maximal-ratio-combining-based diversity allows a multi-antenna receiver (MR) to achieve significantly better coverage probability than a single-antenna receiver (SR). In particular, the notable MR gains for low-power reception and high-throughput services are highlighted. We also discuss various aspects of mobile MRs, including geometric coverage, volume of the users served, and impact of receiver velocity. To examine the feasibility of MRs in the real world, extensive field experiments were conducted, particularly with on-air ATSC 3.0 broadcast transmissions. Relying on the celebrated erroneous second ratio criterion, MRs with two and four antennas were verified to achieve notable reliability gains over SRs in practice. Furthermore, our results also prove that layered-division multiplexing can cope better with receiver mobility than traditional time-division multiplexing when multiple services are intended in the same radio frequency channel.

  • Background: Rhizospheric fungi play an essential role in the plantesoil ecosystem, affecting plant growth and health. In this study, we evaluated the fungal diversity in the rhizosphere soil of 2-yr-old healthy Panax notoginseng cultivated in Wenshan, China. Methods: Culture-independent Illumina MiSeq and culture-dependent techniques, combining molecular and morphological characteristics, were used to analyze the rhizospheric fungal diversity. A diffusion test was used to challenge the phytopathogens of P. notoginseng. Results: A total of 16,130 paired-end reads of the nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer 2 were generated and clustered into 860 operational taxonomic units at 97% sequence similarity. All the operational taxonomic units were assigned to five phyla and 79 genera. Zygomycota (46.2%) and Ascomycota (37.8%) were the dominant taxa; Mortierella and unclassified Mortierellales accounted for a large proportion (44.9%) at genus level. The relative abundance of Fusarium and Phoma sequenceswas high, accounting for 12.9% and 5.5%, respectively. In total,113 fungal isolates were isolated from rhizosphere soil. They were assigned to five classes, eight orders (except for an Incertae sedis), 26 genera, and 43 species based on morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analysis of the internal transcribed spacer. Fusarium was the most isolated genus with six species (24 isolates, 21.2%). The abundance of Phoma was also relatively high (8.0%). Thirteen isolates displayed antimicrobial activity against at least one test fungus. Conclusion: Our results suggest that diverse fungi including potential pathogenic ones exist in the rhizosphere soil of 2-yr-old P. notoginseng and that antagonistic isolates may be useful for biological control of pathogens.

  • In this paper, we discusses that the theoretical analysis is made for the performance of FS MC-CDMA by the aid of the Nakagami fading channels and the block error probabilities of the FS MC-CDMA in Nakagami fading channel are presented. The channel fading speed, slow or fast, is considered in evaluating block error probabilities. The effectiveness of diversity combining in improving block error performance is examined.

  • This paper proposes an alternate time-switched space-frequency block coding transmission technique for orthogonal frequency division modulation systems. There are two antennas in the transmitter but it still has only a baseband and RF and a switch that alternates between the antennas at every symbol timing. Alternating transmit symbols result in zeros that make maximal ratio receive combining possible in the receiver. Simulation results show that it provides better performance than the traditional algorithm at the expense of one additional antenna.

  • Recently developed computational methods allow the imputation of human leukocyte antigen (HLA) genes using intergenic single nucleotide polymorphism markers. To improve the imputation accuracy in HLA imputation, it is essential to increase the sample size and the diversity of alleles in the reference panel. Our software, MergeReference, helps achieve this goal by providing a streamlined pipeline for combining multiple reference panels into one.

  • Alamouti proposes a two branch transmit diver-sity scheme that provides the same diversity order as maximal ratio combining at the receiver. It has many advantages of no bandwidth expansion, not requiring channel information at the transmitter and simple maximum likelihood decoding at the receiver. Papadias and Foschini extend this sch-eme to four transmit antennas and suggest several schemes to decrease the interference component and allow the attainment of the open-loop capacity. This paper shows the performance of ZF and MM-SE schemes comparing with ideal case on 4xl sy-stem over BER and 10% outage capacity.
