The pelvis platform is the mechanical part which accomplishes the activities of diminishing the disturbances from the lower body and maintaining a balanced posture. When a biped robot walks, a lot of disturbances and irregular vibrations are generated and transmitted to the upper body. As there are some important machines and instruments in the upper body or head such as CPU, controller units, vision system, etc., the upper part should be isolated from disturbances or vibrations to functions properly and finally to improve the biped stability. This platform has 3 rotational degrees of freedom and is able to maintain balanced level by feedback control system. Some sensors are fused for more accurate estimation and the control system which integrates synchronization and active filtering is simulated on the virtual environment.
In this paper, we propose an efficient feature vector extraction and decision fusion methods for the automatic classification of power system disturbances. Here, FFT and WPT(wavelet packet transform) are und to extract an appropriate feature for classifying power quality disturbances with variable properties. In particular, the WPT can be utilized to develop an adaptable feature extraction algorithm using best basis selection. Furthermore. the extracted feature vectors are applied as input to the decision fusion system which combines the decisions of several classifiers having complementary performances, leading to improvement of the classification performance. Finally, the applicability of the proposed approach is demonstrated using some simulations results obtained by analyzing power quality disturbances data generated by using Matlab.

A submerged vehicle which is a nonlinear multivariable system must be designed to be roubst against inner-outer perturbations and hydrodynamic disturbances induces maneuvering operation. But a practical design of motion controller is limited by both mathematical modeling error and linearization errors. Performance of a motion controller based on traditional design method is very poor when the vehicle motion is under wave force distrubacnes near sea surface. Therefore, this ppaer proposes a design method of $^{\infty}$ controller under model uncertainty and sea wave disturbances. performance of the controllers by both computer simulation and HILS (hardwave in the loop simulation) shows that $H^{\infty}$ controller is more robust than PID controller under model uncertainty and high sea state...

The loads exerted on electro-hydraulic servo system are classified into inertial, viscous, and spring load. The additional load called disturbances is also exerted on system but is generally not modeled. To deal with these kinds of loads, it is necessary to maintain the continuous signal transfer, so we can construct compensator to satisfy control specifications using feedback signal such as displacement, velocity, acceleration and pressure known as state variables. In case of controlling the speed of hydraulic motor, we must keep up robust performance for the various loads and disturbances acted on the system. However, the load flow rate in the valve is characterized by nonlinearity so that traditional theory of linear control could not be expected to give the desired performance. In this paper, it is shown that speed controller of hydraulic motor gives a good command following and disturbance rejection performance by applying sliding mode theory as a way of robust control to the nonlinearity, variation of loads and disturbances.
Roll stabilization systems for ships are employed to increase comfort for passengers, maintain full working capabilities for members of the crew and prevent cargo damage. In this paper, we have investigated the usefulness of active stabilizing system to reduce ship rolling under disturbances, using varied reaction of the flaps. In the proposed anti-rolling system for a ship, the flaps as the actuator are installed on the stern to reject rolling motion induced by disturbances such as wave. The action induced by flaps depends on power of disturbances and can take the ship balance. Especially, in this study we define the system parameters under the given system structure and design the controller to evaluate the usefulness of the proposed system.

The issue of rejecting periodic disturbances arises in various applications dealing with rotating machinery. A new method using DIDF (Dual-Input Describing Function) is presented for the rejection of periodic disturbances with uncertain frequency. This can be added to an existing feedback control system without altering the closed-loop system stability. The objective is to design a nonlinear compensator to secure specified oscillation amplitude and frequency which are the same as disturbances. We suggest two procedures to determine coefficients for DIDF's synthesis. The structure of the proposed DIDF is so simple that we can easily synthesize. A number of computer simulations were carried out to demonstrate the salient feature of the proposed DIDF compared to the conventional ones(that is, adaptive algorithms).
This paper presents a time-varying sinusoidal disturbance compensation method (based on an adaptive estimation scheme) for induction motor drives fed by a matrix converter. In previous disturbance accommodation methods, sinusoidal disturbances with unknown time-invariant frequencies have been considered. However, in the new method proposed here, disturbances with unknown time-varying frequencies are considered. The disturbances can be estimated by using a disturbance accommodating observer, and an additional control input is added to the induction machine drive. The stability analysis is carried out considering the disturbance estimation error and simulation results are shown to illustrate the performance of the proposed solution.

An improved disturbance rejection control scheme is presented for minimizing the position error due to the repeatable runout disturbances in high density disk drive systems The proposed control algorithm is capable of attenuating repeatable disturbances which is one of the major detractors to hard disk drive quality and performance. This is achieved by a sys-tematic combination of an optimal feedback component and a feedforward preview component. The feedback component is designed where the emphasis is placed on robustness. The feedforward component is on the basis of a preview control comprised of a measured disturbance signals which leads to better disturbance rejection capabilites. The designed con-troller is applied as a plug-in module to a high density hard disk drive with a pre-existing conventional servo controller. Simulations have been carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of this control scheme in the reduction of the periodic disturbances.
Nonlinear dynamics of pulsating instability in radiating counterflow diffusion flames is numerically investigated by imposing Damk$\ddot{o}$hler number perturbation. Stable limit-cycle solutions occur in small ranges of Damk$\ddot{o}$hler numbers past bifurcation point of instability. Period doubling cascade and chaotic behaviors appear just before dynamic extinction occurs. Nonlinear dynamics is also studied when large disturbances are imposed to flames. For weak steady flames, the dynamic extinction range shrinks as the magnitudes of disturbances are increased. However, strong steady flames can overcome relatively large disturbances, thereby the dynamic extinction range extending. Stable limit-cycle behaviors reappears prior to dynamic extinction when the steady flames are strong enough.

This paper presents a method to apply disturbance observer to PID controller for robustness enhancement of UAVs. The system uncertainties and disturbances bring adverse effects on performance and stability of UAVs. In this paper, we estimate the acceleration disturbances using nonlinear disturbance observer, then compensate disturbances with composite controller. By employing nonlinear disturbance observer and composite controller, we have better performance and robustness than conventional PID controller. The asymptotical stability of nonlinear disturbance observer is presented through theoretical analysis. The estimation performance of nonlinear disturbance observer is evaluated by numerical simulation. And performance of disturbance observer based PID controller is evaluated by comparing the performance with conventional PID controller.
