  • In this paper, the single-phase static VAR compensator (SVC) is applied to regulate and stabilize the generated terminal voltage of the single-phase self-excited induction generator (single-phase SEIG) driven by a variable-speed prime mover (VSPM) under the conditions of the independent inductive load variations and the prime mover speed changes The conventional fixed gain PI controller-based feedback control scheme is employed to adjust the equivalent capacitance of the single-phase SVC composed of the fixed excitation capacitor FC in parallel with the thyristor switched capacitor TSC and the thyristor controlled reactor TCR The feedback closed-loop terminal voltage responses in the single-phase SEIG coupled by a VSPM with different inductive passive load disturbances using the single-phase SVC with the PI controller are considered and discussed herem. A VSPM coupled the single-phase SEIG prototype setup is established. Its experimental results are illustrated as compared with its simulation ones and give good agreements with the digital simulation results for the single-phase SEIG driven by a VSPM, which is based on the SVC voltage regulation feedback control scheme.

  • This study, guided by Engeström's (1999, 2001) activity theory which owes its theoretical lineage to sociocultural theory, explores how roles (peer feedback givers and receivers) and tasks are distributed among EFL students who engage in peer response. More specifically, as an extension of previous research of focusing on "stances" ESL students adopt, I investigate whether different roles in peer response groups make a difference in the nature of peer response and identify what underlays the different roles in peer group interaction. In addition, I examine whether different roles to the peer response create tensions and contradictions in peer response and how these created conflicts lead to changes in peer response activity system. The data I wish to consider is first-person narratives elicited from two EFL college students. I use Won's and Choi's (both pseudonyms) stories as a heuristic, which is a method that allowing one to proceed fruitfully in finding information. Foregrounded in this study are the students' different roles in the same peer response activity. A division of labor exists between Won/Choi and their peers - the way tasks are divided up and the way roles are structured. Yet Won and Choi adopted rather divergent roles when participating in peer response activity and carried out qualitatively different peer response activities. It is obvious here that the distribution of their roles in carrying out this particular peer response is shaped by Won' and Choi's perception about the validity of their peers' responses.

  • Direct velocity feedback (DVFB) control with a collocated distributed actuator and point sensor pair is known that it offers a good stability with high performance when the control strategy is applied at the suppression of structural vibration. Also decentralized control method introduced to offer to reduce implementaion effort and malfunction due to failure in sensors and actuators of control system has become an important position in DVFB. In this paper, the decentralized control is compared with centralized control in terms of vibrational velocity reduction in a clamped-clamped beam.

  • In this article, we study a reduced-order modelling for distributed feedback control problem of the Burgers equations. Brief review of the centroidal Voronoi tessellation (CVT) are provided. A weighted (nonuniform density) CVT is introduced and low-order approximate solution and compensator-based control design of Burgers equation is discussed. Through weighted CVT (or CVT-nonuniform) method, obtained low-order basis is applied to low-order functional gains to design a low-order controller, and by using the low-order basis order of control modelling was reduced. Numerical experiments show that a solution of reduced-order controlled Burgers equation performs well in comparison with a solution of full order controlled Burgers equation.

  • In [2], we have shown that the optimal boundary controls for hyperbolic systems in L$^{2}$-spaces can be attained in a feedback form via Riccati operators. A number of authors [1, 5, 7 and 10] have investigated approximations of Riccati operators arising in distributed parameter systems. They assumed bounded controls for parabolic systems. However, we in this paper study Galerkin approximations of Riccati operators and feedback controls for hyperbolic systems with unbounded control actions. Let us briefly introduce some results of [2]. Let .ohm. be an open bounded region in R$^{n}$ with smooth boundary .GAMMA. where n is a fixed positive integer. We consider a strictly hyperbolic differential operator H(x) of order 1 on .ohm. with noncharacteristic boundary on .GAMMA.

  • The present paper studies a robot manipulator's contact tasks on the uncertain flexible objects. The flexible object's distributed parameter model is approximated into a lumped "position state-varying" model. By using the well-known nonlinear feedback compensation, the robot's control space is decomposed into the position control subspace and the object's torque control subspace. The optimal state feedback is designed for the position loop, and the robot's contact force is controlled through controlling the resultant torque on the object using model-reference simple adaptive control. Experiments of a PUMA robot interacting with an aluminum plate show the effectiveness of this control approach. approach.

  • This paper addresses the control of free and dynamic response of composite rotating pretwisted blade modeled as non-uniform thin-walled beam fixed at the certain presetting and pretwisted angle and incorporating piezoelectric induced damping capabilities. A distributed piezoelectric actuator pair is used to suppress the vibrations caused by external disturbances. The blade model incorporates non-uniform features such as transverse shear, secondary warping and includes the centrifugal and Coriolis force field. A velocity feedback control law relating the piezoelectiriccally induced transversal bending moment at the beam tip with the appropriately selected kinematical response quantity is used and the beneficial effects upon the closed loop eigenvibration and dynamic characteristics of the blade are highlighted.

  • This paper considers the problem of regulating the output voltage of a current doubler rectified asymmetric half-bridge (CDRAHB) DC/DC converter via fuzzy integral control. First, we model the dynamic characteristics of the CDRAHB converter with the state-space averaging method, and after introducing an additional integral state of the output regulation error, we obtain the Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy model for the augmented system. Second, the concept of parallel distributed compensation is applied to the design of the TS fuzzy integral controller, in which the state feedback gains are obtained by solving the linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, numerical simulations of the considered design method are compared to those of the conventional method, in which a compensated error amplifier is designed for the stability of the feedback control loop.

  • To synchronize the distributed generation (DG) unit with the grid, the voltage sensors are generally employed to obtain the grid phase angle. This paper presents an observer-based voltage sensorless control scheme for a three-phase inverter connected to the grid through an LCL filter. The proposed control scheme consists of an augmented state observer and a feedback controller. The augmented state observer is used to estimate the grid voltages and states of the inverter system, which are then employed to determine the grid voltage angle and to construct the feedback controller. As a result of using the observer, only the grid current sensors are required to accomplish the control scheme. The simulation results are given to prove the validity of the proposed control scheme.
