미생물에 의한 자귀나무·참싸리·비수리 종자의 발아촉진 (The Increase of Seeds Germination in Albizzia julibrissin, Lespedeza cyrtobotrya and Lespedeza cuneata by Microbial Treatment)

  • Herbs and plants widely used for the ecological restoration were selected for germination rate analysis under treatment of microorganisms to determine ideal treatment conditions and medium for enhanced germination rate. Albizzia julibrissin, when submerged in a nutrient medium or distilled water, presented a decrease in germination period rather than increase in germination rate. When treated with microorganism culture solution (JM-2) for 24 hours, 90% germination was achieved in two days, which is sufficient evidence to conclude that such treatment accelerates the germination of Albizzia julibrissin. Germination period decreased for Lespedeza cyrtobotrya samples submerged in microorganism solution for 15 and 48 hours, however, increases in germination rates were not observed. Sample treated in the solution for 24 hours had increased germination rate and enhanced germination period. Microorganism solution treatment had a negative effect on germination for Lespedeza cuneata, unlike Lespedeza cyrtobotrya and Albizzia julibrissin. Microorganism treated seeds of Lepsedeza cuneata had a lower germination rate than that of the control with no treatment.   • 전처리 후 저장방법, 저장온 습도, 저장기간 등 저장조건에 따른 절화품질과 수명을 비교함으로써 절화장미의 관상가치를 향상시키고자 본 실험을 수행하였다. 건식-저온처리의 경우 상자 내부의 온도가 저장고의 온도조건과 같은 $3^{\circ}C$를 유지하는데 12시간이 소요되었으며 습도는 20시간 경과 후 99%를 유지하였다. 꽃목굽음은 aluminum sulfate 혼합액 전처리에서 지연되었으며, 저장온도에서는 저온이, 저장방법에서는 습식이 적게 발생하는 것으로 나타났다. 흡수량은 저장시간이 길어질수록 상온($25^{\circ}C$)저장 보다는 저온($3^{\circ}C$)저장에서 높게 나타났다. 화경은 저장기간이 길어짐에 따라 처리별로 작아지는 경향을 보였으며 건식 저장보다 습식 저장에서 화경이 큰 것으로 나타났다. 절화수명은 aluminum sulfate 혼합액 전처리에서 저장기간에 관계없이 연장되었다. 습식저장은 건식보다 절화수명이 연장되었고 저장시간이 길어질수록 그 효과는 뚜렷하였으며, 저온저장($3^{\circ}C$)이 상온($25^{\circ}C$)에 비해 절화수명이 연장되었다.

피톤치드의 입냄새 제거효과 (The Effect of the Phytoncide in Decreasing the Mouth Odor)

  • 구강 내에서의 피톤치드는 항균효과를 통하여 입냄새 발생균을 줄여줄 뿐 만 아니라 발생된 휘발성 황화합물과 반응하여 생겨진 입냄새성분을 액체상태에서 침전시킴으로써 냄새제거를 할 수 있게 하는 기능을 가지고 있어, 미생물학적으로나 화학적으로 탁월한 냄새제거의 기능을 가지고 있다. 이에 본 실험에서는 ferrous sulfate를 사용하여 피톤치드에 의한 입냄새 성분인 휘발성 황화합물의 냄새제거작용을 증명함으로써 발전된 새로운 입냄새 치료 방법을 개발하고자 한 바, 아래와 같은 유의성 있는 결과를 얻었다. 1. 타액에 피톤치드 첨가 후의 침전에 의한 흡광도의 평균값과 타액자체만의 침전에 의한 흡광도의 평균값의 차이는 0.849이었다. 2. 증류수에 피톤치드 첨가했을 때 침전에 의한 흡광도의 평균값과 증류수 자체만의 침전에 의한 흡광도의 평균값의 차이는 0.701이었다. 3. 증류수에 피톤치드의 유무에 의한 평균값 차이(0.701)보다 타액 내 피톤치드의 유무에 의한 평균값의 차이(0.849)가 더 크므로 피톤치드는 타액 내에서 황화합물과 작용하여 더 많은 침전물을 발생시켰다. 이상의 결과로 보아, 본 연구에서 사용한 피톤치드는 타액 내의 입냄새물질인 황화합물과 반응하여 액체 상태에서 효과적으로 냄새제거작용을 수행할 수 있으므로, 인체에 부작용이 없는 한계 내에서 치약뿐 만 아니라 구강세척제 등의 구강용품에 첨가하여 임상에서 적극적으로 사용할 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

물리적, 화학적 자극이 안경 렌즈의 코팅에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Physical and Chemical Stimuli on Ophthalmic Lens Coatings)

  • 목적: 안경 렌즈에 물리적, 화학적 자극이 반복적으로 가해졌을 때 렌즈 코팅막의 기능에는 어떠한 변화가 나타나는 지를 알아보고자 하였다. 방법: CR-39 재질의 안경 렌즈 표면에 물리적, 화학적 자극으로 테이프 떼기, 아세톤 문지르기, 아세톤에 침윤 및 증류수에 침윤하기를 시행한 후 렌즈 표면의 변화, 광투과율 변화, 김서림 시간 변화 및 손상된 렌즈 표면의 안정성 여부를 측정하였다. 결과: 하드 코팅의 기능 변화를 알아보기 위한 표면관찰시 아세톤에 침윤한 안경 렌즈만이 침윤 30분 후부터 표면의 변화가 나타났다. 반사방지 코팅의 기능 변화를 알아보기 위한 광투과율 측정시 증류수에 180분간 침윤한 안경 렌즈는 1% 정도의 미세한 감소를 보인 반면 아세톤에 침윤시킨 렌즈에서는 침윤 60분 후 반사방지 코팅의 기능이 거의 소실됨을 알 수 있었다. 안티포그 코팅의 기능 변화를 알아보기 위한 김서림 지속시간 측정시 아세톤에 침윤시킨 안경 렌즈에서 김서림 지속시간이 증가하였다. 자극에 의해 손상받은 코팅막의 안정성을 알아보았을 때 테이프로 떼어내기, 아세톤으로 문지르기, 증류수에 침윤 및 아세톤에 침윤시킨 렌즈 표면의 코팅 손상이 관찰되었다. 결론: 반복적인 물리적, 화학적 자극으로 인하여 안경 렌즈의 코팅 변화가 관찰되었으므로 안경 조제 과정 중이나 안경 착용 시 이에 대한 주의가 요구된다.

고지방식이를 섭취한 마우스에서 양파껍질 열수 추출물이 혈중지질에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Onion Peel Water Extract on the Blood Lipid Profiles in Mice Fed a High-Fat Diet)

  • Onion (Allium cepa L.) is one of the richest sources of flavonoids in human diet. Onion peel contains over 20 times more quercetin than onion flesh. In this study, we studied the effects of onion peel water extract (OPE) on the blood lipid profiles in mice. The onion peel extracts was extracted with hot water. The experimental groups were divided with 3 groups (n = 6) of ICR male mice: normal diet + distilled water (NC), high-fat diet + distilled water (HF), high-fat diet + onion peel water extract 20 mg/kg (OPE-20). The oral administration was conducted daily. The experimental period was 7 weeks. Onion peel water extract showed higher concentration of polyphenol gallic acid and anti-oxidant trolox equivalent than the ethanol extract. The body weight gain and food efficiency ratio was significantly lower in the OPE-20 group as compared with HF group (p < 0.05). The epididymal fat and retroperitoneal fat showed significantly lower weights and sizes in the OPE-20 group as compared with HF group (p < 0.05). The serum levels of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and triglyceride were significantly lower in the OPE-20 group as compared with HF group (p < 0.05). The OPE-20 group showed higher HDL cholesterol concentration than HF group (p < 0.05). Atherogenic index was ignificantly lower in as compared with HF group (p < 0.05). The serum levels of glucose, GOT and GPT were significantly lower in the OPE-20 group as compared with HF group (p < 0.05). In these results, we suggests that onion peel water extracts supplementation can reduces the serum lipid components and improves the lipid metabolism in hyperlipidemic mice induced with a high-fat diet.

천연제올라이트를 이용한 메탄 하이드레이트 생성에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Methane Hydrate Formation Using Natural Zeolite)

  • Gas hydrate is formed by physical binding between water molecule and gas such as methane, ethane, propane, or carbon dioxide, etc., which is captured in the cavities of water molecule under the specific temperature and pressure. $1\;m^3$ hydrate of pure methane can be decomposed to the methane gas of $172\;m^3$ and water of $0.8\;m^3$ at standard condition. If this characteristic of hydrate is reversely utilized, natural gas is fixed into water in the form of hydrate solid. Therefore, the hydrate is considered to be a great way to transport and store of natural gas in large quantity. Especially the transportation cost is known to be 18~25% less than the liquefied transportation. However, when methane gas hydrate is artificially formed, its reaction time may be too long and the gas consumption in water becomes relatively low, because the reaction rate between water and gas is low. Therefore, for the practical purpose in the application, the present investigation focuses on the rapid production of hydrates and the increment of the amount of captured gas by adding zeolite into pure water. The results show that when the zeolite of 0.01 wt% was added to distilled water, the amount of captured gas during the formation of methane hydrate was about 4.5 times higher than that in distilled water, and the methane hydrate formation time decreased at the same subcooling temperature.

물-에탄올 기반 이성분 산화탄소나노유체의 특성 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study on the Characteristics of Binary Oxidized Carbon Nanofluids Based DI Water and Ethanol)

  • A nanofluid is a fluid containing suspended solid particles, with sizes on the order of nanometers. Normally, nanofluids have higher thermal conductivitiest han their base fluids. Therefore, we measured the thermal conductivity and viscosity of oxidized carbon nanofluids based the mixture of distilled water and ethanol (ethanol concentration is 0.2) oxidized carbon nanofluids were made by ultrasonic dispersing oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotubes in the mixture of distilled water and ethanol at the rates of 0.001~ 0.1 vol%. The thermal conductivity and viscosity of oxidized carbon nanofluids were measured by using transient hot-wire method and rotational digital viscometer, respectively. And all of experiments were carried out at the same temperature conditions($10^{\circ}C$, $25^{\circ}C$ and $70^{\circ}C$). As a result, when volume fraction of nanofluids is 0.1 vol%, thermal conductivity was improved 13.6% ($10^{\circ}C$), 15.1% ($25^{\circ}C$), and 17.0% ($70^{\circ}C$), and its viscosity was increased by 36.0% ($10^{\circ}C$), 32.9% ($25^{\circ}C$) and 19.5% ($70^{\circ}C$) than the base fluids.

화학 개질된 실크세리신 필름의 특성 (Properties of Silk-Sericin Films Modified by Isocyanate Compounds)

  • Polar amino groups of the waste SS(silk-sericin) were modified by two isocyanate compounds of MOI[2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl isocyanate] and AOI [2-(acryloyloxy)ethyl isocyanate]. When the MOISS (MOI-modified silk sericin) or AOISS(AOI-modified silk sericin) was pressed hot, vinyl groups in the MOI or AOI were polymerized and then the flexible and transparent films were obtained. Tensile moduli and strengths of the MOISS films were significantly improved as the MOI contents increased. By the addition of the isocyanate compounds, silk sericin films exhibited lower solubility to the distilled water($80^{\circ}C$) and also lower swell ratio to the distilled water(room temperature). In the effect of tensile properties and restraining the water swelling, MOI was better than AOI. BOD(biochemical oxygen demand)/TOD(theoretical oxygen demand) of the pure sericin film was almost 100% perfect level after 10 days immersion into the activated sludge. With increasing isocyanate content reacted with polar amino groups, BOD/TOD decreased. When more than 50 mol% of polar amino groups remained unreacted, sericin films could retain more biodegradability. Comparing with MOI from the viewpoint of biodegradability, AOI was more effective.

AZ31 마그네슘 합금의 절삭가공과정에서의 부식거동 (Corrosion Behavior of AZ31 Magnesium Alloy during Machining)

  • In the study, corrosion characteristics of AZ31 magnesium alloy under various environments exposed during machining(immersion in cutting oil, 5 % cutting oil aqueous solution and distilled water & contact with dissimilar metals, SPC4 and A5052-H32) were investigated. A corrosion test was performed AZ31 magnesium alloy was immersed in each electrolyte solution after contacting with each dissimilar metals, and the results were observed by an electron microscope. In immersion tests, corrosion of AZ31 magnesium alloy showed to be in the sequence of distilled water> 5 % cutting oil aqueous solution> cutting oil> air, and in the test of contact with dissimilar metals, corrosion showed to be in the sequence of SPC4> A5052-H32> AZ31. It can be concluded that to prevent corrosion during machining, AZ31 magnesium alloy must prevent contacting water and use magnesium alloy for raw material of Jig & Fixture.

Streptozotocin으로 유도된 제1형 당뇨 생쥐에서 생막걸리 투여가 혈당 및 생존률에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Non-sterilized Makgeolli Consumption on Blood Glucose Level and Survival Rate in Streptozotocin-induced Type I Diabetic Mice)

  • Makgeolli is a health beneficial food for diabetes compared to other alcoholic beverages. We examined the effect of Makgeolli on blood glucose level and survival rate in a streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic mouse model. We force fed 30 male STZ-induced diabetic ICR mice Makgeolli consisting of 6% alcohol (DM-MAK), 6% ethanol (DM-EtOH), or distilled water (DM-DW) for 4 weeks. In the DM-MAK group, food intake and water intake were higher than those of other groups after 4 weeks. Body weight, however, was not different among the experimental groups. We also found no significant difference in blood glucose level among the experimental groups. In normal ICR mice fed Makgeolli for 1 week, the area of the blood glucose curve was higher than those of other groups fed 6% ethanol, 2% glucose, or distilled water. Survival rates of STZ-induced diabetic mice fed Makgeolli, 6% ethanol, or DW for 4 weeks were 100%, 25%, and 62.5%, respectively. In conclusion, Makgeolli had no beneficial effect on blood glucose in a STZ-induced diabetic mouse model, although their survival rate was high. These results show that Makgeolli has an effect on type 1 diabetes through other mechanisms than blood glucose control.
