30W급 LED 투광등의 풍속에 따른 히트싱크 온도분포에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Heatsink Temperature Distribution according to the Wind Speed of a 30W LED Floodlight)

  • This study investigated the heat dissipation characteristics of a heat-sensitive LED. More than 80% of the power supply is converted into heat energy, which has a fatal impact on the lifetime of the LED. Therefore, the effective heat dissipation characteristics of a heatsink, such as a 30W floodlight, through forced convection were grasped and the heat transfer characteristics were tested. As a result, it was confirmed that the smaller the number of fins, the more the temperature distribution varies according to the wind velocity. In addition, the larger the number of fins, the smaller the temperature difference according to the wind velocity. Therefore, it was found through this experiment that excellent heat dissipation performance was exhibited as the heat dissipation area and wind velocity increased.

  • The use of supplemental damping to dissipate seismic energy is one of the most economical and effective ways to mitigate the effects of earthquakes on structures. Both displacement-dependent and velocity-dependent devices dissipate earthquake-induced energy effectively. Combining displacement-dependent and velocity-dependent devices for seismic mitigation of structures minimizes the shortcomings of individual dampers, and is the most economical solution for seismic mitigation. However, there are few publications related to the optimum distributions of combined devices in a multiple-bay frame building. In this paper, the effectiveness of a building consisting of multiple bags equipped with combined displacement-dependent and velocity-dependent devices is investigated. A four-story building with six bays was selected as an example to examine the efficiency of the proposed combination methods. The parametric study shows that appropriate arrangements of different kinds of devices make the devices more efficient and economical.

  • Hydrodynamic performance of a movable submerged breakwater was analyzed using energy dissipation model. Based on two-dimensional boundary element method the equation of motion including a viscous dissipation term proportional to velocity squared was solved by Newton-Raphson method. Energy dissipation coefficients as well as reflection and transmission coefficients of a submerged flat plate were calculated with various plate lengths and thickness. Both real and imaginary components of body displacement and forces were used to solve the motion of breakwater accurately. The effect of the magnitude of dissipation coefficient on the body displacement was evaluated. The results from the potential theory with no dissipation term were found to be an overestimate in resonance frequency.

  • The principle of energy dissipation technology is to dissipate or absorb the seismic energy input through the deformation or velocity change of dampers installed in the main structure of high-rise buildings, so as to reduce the seismic response of the buildings. With the development of energy dissipation technology, recognized as an effective and new measurement for reducing seismic effects, its application in high-rise buildings has become more and more popular. The appropriate energy dissipation devices suitable for high-rise buildings are introduced in this paper. The effectiveness of energy-dissipation technology for reducing the seismic response of high-rise buildings with various structural forms is demonstrated with a number of actual examples of high-rise buildings equipped with various energy dissipation devices.

가변댐퍼식 궤도차량용 현수장치의 성능에 관한 연구 (A study on the performance of variable damper type suspension for tracked vehicle)

  • The feasibility of using fluidic components for improving certain performance characteristics of the suspension systems for tracked vehicle is investigated. This study describes three variable damping systems for which the damping coefficients are function of relative velocity and absolute a of the vehicle body. Through the comparison analysis between constant damping coefficient damper and each of variable dampers. the followings were found: (1)Fluidic Diode Damper gave less accelerations, (2)Both Fluidic Diode Damper and Relative Velocity Damper gave the less time for which the wheel is off the ground, (3) At low vehicle velocity Fluidic Diode Damper gave low energy dissipation rate, while at high vehicle velocity Turbulence Accelerometer Damper gave low energy dissipation rate.

  • Four turbulent $k-{\varepsilon}$ models (i.e., standard model, modified models with streamline curvature modification and/or preferential dissipation modification) are applied in order to analyze the turbulent flow of wall-attaching offset jet. For numerical convergence, this paper develops a method of slowly increasing the convective effect induced by skew-velocity in skew-upwind scheme (hereafter called Partial Skewupwind Scheme). Even though the method was simple, it was efficient in view of convergent speed, computer memory storage, programming, etc. The numerical results of all models show good prediction in first order calculations (i.e., reattachment length, mean velocity, pressure), while they show some deviations in ·second order (i.e., kinetic energy and its dissipation rate). Like the previous results obtained by upwind scheme, the streamline curvature modification results in better prediction, while the preferential dissipation modification does not.

  • This paper deals with analysis of measuring power dissipation when Maglev is running. With the various running scenarios for Maglev, power dissipation was measured and a comparative analysis of it and wheel-on rails were carried out. The purpose of this paper is to confirm the efficiency and economics on operation of Maglev and reflect detail design later. When the running scenarios of Maglev are the status of landing on and levitation, running at rated acceleration and deceleration and according to changes of velocity, the power dissipation was measured. The measured results are analyzed considering with apparent electric power and active power, reactive power and power factor etc. Due to the limited test track condition, it is very limited to compare and analyze Maglev and general trains. Nevertheless, It is a task of great significance to identify the efficiency and economics on operating Maglev through the results of measuring power dissipation. In the future, measuring power dissipation through more various scenarios will be carried out, and the results will be reflected the design.

1-g 진동대시험을 이용한 진동하중을 받는 포화된 모래지반의 투수계수 변화 추정 (Estimation of the Permeability Variation in Saturated Sand Deposits Subjected to Shaking Load Using 1-g Stinking Table Test)

  • 액상화후 과잉간극수압 소산양상을 파악하고 액상화를 겪는 지반의 침하량을 예측하는데 필요한 진동하중이 작용하는 동안의 포화된 모래지반의 투수계수 변화를 추정하기 위하여, 액상화 가능성이 큰 5종류의 모래에 대해 1-g 진동대시험을 수행하였다. 시험과정중에 깊이별 과잉간극수압과 지표면 침하량을 계측하였다. 액상화후 계측된 과잉간극수압 소산곡선을 침강이론으로 선형모사하였고 선형모사된 소산곡선의 기울기를 분석함으로써 소산속도와 입도특성치와의 상관관계를 얻었다. 이러한 상관관계와 계측된 침하량을 침강이론에서 제안한 소산속도식에 대입하여 소산과정중 투수계수를 역산하였고 산정된 소산과정중 투수계수를 이용하여 진동하중이 작용하는 동안의 투수계수 변화를 추정하였다. 액상화후 과잉간극수압의 소산속도는 유효입경을 균등계수로 나눈 값에 선형적 상관관계를 갖는 것으로 나타났으며, 이러한 상관관계를 이용하여 구한 소산과정과 액상화동안의 투수계수는 원지반의 초기투수계수에 비해 각각 1.1∼2.8배, 1.4∼5배 증가하였다 그리고 이러한 증가 정도는 시험모래의 유효입경이 클수록 균등계수가 작을수록 더 커짐을 알 수 있었다.

  • The temperature distribution on the superconducting thin-film is analyzed as moving constant field is applied above upper critical field. The distribution of magnetic field is derived in the normal spot. Governing equation is obtained with the help of the equation of conservation of energy. The temperature distribution and the heat dissipation are obtained through computer simulation by the method of numerical analysis. Maximum temperature is occured in the most right side inside normal spot. The temperature is increased abruptly inside the normal spot, and decreased more gradually outside normal spot in the direction of moving field as velocity is increased. Increasing the velocity rather than increasing magnitude of the normal spot and the applied field makes maximum temperature larger. Heat dissipation is affected by the velocity rather than the magnitude of normal spot and the applied field.

Large-Scale Vortical Structures in The Developing Plane Mixing Layer Using LES

  • Study of turbulent mixing layers has been a popular subject from the point of view of both practical application and phenomenological importance in engineering field. Turbulent mixing layers can be applied in many fields where rapid transition to turbulence is desirable in order to prevent boundary layer separation or to enhance mixing. The ability to control mixing, structure and growth of the shear flow would obviously have a considerable impact on many engineering applications. In addition to practical applications, free shear flows are one of the simplest flows to understand the fundamental mechanism in the transition process to turbulence. After the discovery of large-scale vortical structure in free shear flows many researchers have investigated the physical mechanism of generation and dissipation processes of the vortical structure. This study investigated the role of the large-scale vortical structures in the turbulent mixing layer using LES(Large-Eddy Simulation). The result shows that the pairing interaction of the vortical structure plays an important role in the growth rate of a mixing layer. It is found that the turbulence quantities depend strongly on the velocity ratio. It is also found that the vorticity in the high-velocity-side can extract energy from the mean flow, while the vorticity in the low-velocity-side lose energy by the viscous dissipation. Finally the results suggest the guideline to obtain the desired flow by control of the velocity ratio.
