The dispersion of WC grains Into the interior of an eutectic liquid has been studied by superimposing the eutectic WC-85wt.%Co liquid on the top surface of presintered WC-l0wt.%Co alloy compacts. The heavy WC grains diffused into the interior of liquid from the WC-l0wt.%Co compacts. According to increasing the treating temperatures and times, the dispersion distance from WC-l0wt.%Co substrates increased. The fine WC grains diffused into the liquid faster than the coarse WC grains. The high microstructural stability of WC-Co alloys having the heavier WC grains dispersed in a lighter Co-rich liquid was attributed to Brownian motion of WC grains in liquid. The motion of WC grains in the liquid appears to be same with the colloid(the disperse phase) in a dispersing medium. The dihedral angle of 0 degree of WC-Co at. toy seems one of key parameters, which enables the WC-Co alloys to have high structural stability without settling the WC grains during liquid phase sintering.

The potential impact of hypothetical accidents that occur during the immediate and deferred dismantling of the Kori Unit 1 steam generator has been comprehensively evaluated. The evaluation includes determining the inventory of radionuclides in the Steam Generator based on surface contamination measurements, assuming a rate of release for each accident scenario, and applying external and internal exposure dose coefficients to assess the effects of radionuclides on human health. The evaluation also includes calculating the atmospheric dispersion factor using the PAVAN code and analyzing three years of meteorological data from Kori NPP to determine the degree of diffusion of radionuclides in the atmosphere. Overall, the effective dose for residents living in the Exclusion Area Boundary (EAB) of Kori NPP is predicted, an it is found that the maximum level of the dose is 0.034% compared to the annual dose limit of 1 mSv for the general public. This implies that the potential impact of hypothetical accidents on human health discussed above is within acceptable limits.

The dispersing performance of oligomer-type anionic surfactants ($C_mD-Na$), cooligomers of diethylester maleate and alkylvinylether of different alkyl chain lengths or polymerization degree were studied on the aqueous suspension of iron dxide or titanium dioxide particles which are hydrophilic pigments. The dispersion behavior of oligomer-type surfactants for these dispersoids, although anion charges on the surface of pigments particles showed different dispersing properties, was dependent upon the side alkyl chain length. Oligomer-type surfactants having more than $C_8$ side alkyl chain exhibited large dispersing action for relatively hydrophobic ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ and Anatase $TiO_2$ in the concentration range of more than 0.1% oligomer-type surfactant solutions.

In this paper, we numerically investigated the optimum pump light power resulting best compensation of pulse distortion due to both chromatic dispersion and self phase modulation (SPM) in long-haul 3×40 Gbps wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) systems. We used mid-span spectral inversion (MSSI) method with path-averaged intensity approximation (PAIA) as compensation approach, which have highly nonlinear dispersion shifted fiber (HNL-DSF) as nonlinear medium of optical phase conjugator (OPC) in the mid-way of total transmission line. We confirmed that HNL-DSF is an useful nonlinear medium in OPC for wideband WDM transmission, and in order to achieve the excellent compensation the pump light power is selected to equal the conjugated light power into the latter half fiber section with the input light power of WDM channel depending on total transmission length. Also we confirmed that compensation degree of WDM channel with small conversion efficiency is improved by using pump light power increasing power conversion ratio upper than 1.

Two hydrogenation surface modifications, namely hydrogen atmosphere heat treatment and hydrogen plasma treatment, were found to lead to improved dispersion of nanodiamond (ND) seed particles and enhanced nucleation density for deposition of smooth ultrananocrystalline diamond (UNCD) film. After hydrogenation, the C-O and O-H surface functionalities on the surface of nanodiamond particles were converted to the C-H surface functionalities, and the Zeta potential was increased. As the degree of dispersion was improved, the size of nanodiamond aggregates decreased significantly and nucleation density increased dramatically. After hydrogen heat treatment at 600℃, average size of ND particles was greatly reduced from 3.5 ㎛ to 34.5 nm and a very high nucleation of ~3.9 × 1011 nuclei/㎠ was obtained for the seeded Si surface.
Polypropylene (PP)-layered silicate nanocomposites were developed using a new processing method involving a supercritical carbon dioxide ($scCO_2$)-assisted co-rotating twin-screw extrusion process. The nanocomposites were prepared through two step extrusion processes. In the first step, the PP/clay mixture was extruded with $CO_2$ injected into the barrel of the extruder and the resulting foamed extrudate was cooled and pelletized. In the second step, the foamed extrudate was extruded with venting to produce the final PP/clay nanocomposites without $CO_2$. In this study, organophilic-clay and polypropylene matrix were used. Maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene (PP-g-MA) was used as a compatibilizer. This study focused on the effect of $scCO_2$ on the dispersion characteristics of the clays into a PP matrix and the rheological properties of the layered silicate based PP nanocomposites. The dispersion properties of clays in the nanocomposites as well as the rheological properties of the nanocomposites were examined as a function of the PP-g-MA concentration. The degree of dispersion of the clays in the nanocomposites was analyzed by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscope. Various rheological properties of the nanocomposites were measured using a rotational rheometer. In the experimental results, the $scCO_2$ assisted continuous manufacturing extrusion system was used to successfully produce the organophilic-clay filled PP nanocomposites. It was found that $scCO_2$ had a measurable effect on the clay dispersion in the polymer matrix and the melt intercalation of a polymer into clay layers.

Well-defined star shaped and linear block copolymers were synthesized to study the dispersion stability of copper phthalocyanine (CuPc). We synthesized dispersants using (2-dimethylamino) ethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA) and poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate) (PEGMA) by activators generated by electron transfer (AGET) atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). pDMAEMA-b-pPEGMA copolymers were characterized by GPC and NMR. Furthermore, we studied the effect of the dispersion stability of copper phthalocyanine by controlling the degree of polymerization of PEGMA as a stabilizing group. The 4-arm star shaped polymeric dispersant showed better dispersion stability of CuPc at $25^{\circ}C$ for 7 days.

Experimentally measured Lamb wave group velocities in composite materials with anisotropic characteristics are not accorded with the theoretical group velocities as calculated with the Lamb wave dispersion equation. This discrepancy arises from the fact that the angle between the group velocity direction and the phase velocity direction in anisotropic materials exists. Wave propagation in a composite material with anisotropic characteristics should be considered with respect to magnitude in addition to direction. In this study, $S_0$ mode phase velocity dispersion corves are depicted with the variation of degree with respect to the fiber direction using a Lamb wave dispersion relation in the unidirectional, bidirectional, and quasi-isotropic composite plates. Slowness surface is sketched by the reciprocal value of the phase velocity curves. The magnitude and direction of the group velocity are calculated from the slowness surface. The theoretically determined group velocity, which is calculated from the slowness surface, Is compared with experimentally measured group velocities. The proposed method shows good agreements with theoretical and experimental results.

Self-sensing on micro-failure, dispersion degree and relating properties, of carbon nanotube(CNT)/epoxy composites, were investigated using wettability, electro-micromechanical technique with acoustic emission(AE). Specimens were prepared from neat epoxy as well as composites with untreated and acid-treated CNT. Degree of dispersion was evaluated comparatively by measuring volumetric electrical resistivity and its standard deviation. Apparent modulus containing the stress transfer was higher for acid-treated CNT composite than for the untreated case. Applied cyclic loading responded well for a single carbon fiber/CNT-epoxy composite by the change in contact resistivity. The interfacial shear strength between a single carbon fiber and CNT-epoxy, determined in a fiber pullout test, was lower than that between a single carbon fiber and neat epoxy. Regarding on micro-damage sensing using electrical resistivity measurement with AE, the stepwise increment in electrical resistivity was observed for a single carbon fiber/CNT -epoxy composite. On the other hand, electrical resistivity increased infinitely right after the first carbon fiber breaks for a single carbon fiber/neat epoxy composite. The occurrence of AE events of added CNT composites was much higher than the neat epoxy case, due to micro failure at the interfaces by added CNTs.
