  • In this paper, we treat the problem of a robust finite-time dissipative state feedback controller design method for discrete-time singular systems with polytopic uncertainties. A BRL(bounded real lemma) for finite-time stability of discrete-time singular systems is derived. A finite-time dissipative state feedback controller design method satisfying finite-time stability and dissipativity is proposed by LMI(linear matrix inequality) technique on the basis of the obtained BRL. Moreover it is shown that the obtained condition can be extended into polytopic uncertain systems by proper manipulations. Finally, illustrative examples are given to show the applicability of the proposed method.

  • This paper describes a consideration on the sampling in linearly time-varying (LTV) systems in view of the convenience in digital signal processing. The relation between a continuous-time and a discrete-time system models is investigated for a simple linear time-invariant system. Based on the results of the investigation, we first consider discrete-time models for LTV systems, Then the simplicity of the models in terms of microprocessor-based digital signal processing is compared.

  • This paper deals with the stability of discrete time linear systems with time - varying delays in state. In this paper, the magnitude of time - varying delays is assumed to be upper-bounded. The stability of discrete time linear systems with time - varying delays in state is related with the stability of discrete time linear systems with constant time delay in state. To show this, a new Lyapunov function is proposed. Using this Lyapunov function, a sufficient condition for the asymptotic stability is derived.

  • This paper suggests a method using Bayesian inference to estimate the parameters of Weibull distribution and acceleration parameters under the condition that the stresses are time-dependent functions. A Bayesian model based on the discrete time approximation is formulated to infer the parameters of interest from the failure data of the virtual tests and a statistical analysis is considered to decide the most probable mean values of the parameters for reasoning of the failure data.

  • In this paper, a DEVS(Discrete EVent Systems Specification)-HLA(High Level Architecture) interface was developed in order to perform the simulation using the combined discrete event and discrete time simulation model architecture in a distributed environment. The developed interface connects the combined simulation model with the HLA/RTI(Run-Time Infrastructure) which is an international standard middleware for distributed simulation. The interface consists of an interface model, a model interpreter, and a distributed environment interpreter. The interface model was defined by using the combined simulation architecture in order to easily connect the existing combined simulation model without modification with the HLA/RTI. The model interpreter takes charge of data transmission between the interface model and the combined simulation model. The distributed environment interpreter takes charge of data transmission between the interface model and the HLA/RTI. To evaluate the applicability of the developed interface, it was applied to the diving simulation of a submarine in a distributed environment. The result shows that a simulation result in a distributed environment using the interface is the same to the result in a single computing environment.

  • The stabilized Gauge-Uzawa method (SGUM), which is a second order projection type algorithm to solve the time-dependent Navier-Stokes equations, has been newly constructed in 2013 Pyo's paper. The accuracy of SGUM has been proved only for time discrete scheme in the same paper, but it is crucial to study for fully discrete scheme, because the numerical errors depend on discretizations for both space and time, and because discrete spaces between velocity and pressure can not be chosen arbitrary. In this paper, we find out properties of the fully discrete SGUM and estimate its errors and stability to solve the evolution Navier-Stokes equations. The main difficulty in this estimation arises from losing some cancellation laws due to failing divergence free condition of the discrete velocity function. This result will be extended to Boussinesq equations in the continuous research (part II) and is essential in the study of part II.

  • The stability robustness problem of linear discrete-time systems with delayed time-varying perturbations is considered. Compared with continuous time system, little effort has been made for the discrete time system in this area. In the previous results, the bounds were derived for the case of non-delayed perturbations. There are few results for delayed perturbation. Although the results are for the delayed perturbation, they considered only the time-invariant perturbations. In this paper, the sufficient conditions for stability can be expressed as linear matrix inequalities(LMIs). The corresponding stability bounds are determined by LMI(Linear Matrix Inequality)-based algorithms. Numerical examples are given to compare with the previous results and show the effectiveness of the proposed results.

  • This paper presents matrix inequality conditions for H$_2$optimal control of linear time-invariant descriptor systems in continuous and discrete time cases, respectively. First, the necessary and sufficient condition for H$_2$control and H$_2$controller design method are expressed in terms of LMls(linear matrix inequalities) with no equality constraints in continuous time case. Next, the sufficient condition for H$_2$control and H$_2$controller design method are proposed by matrix inequality approach in discrete time case. A numerical example is given in each case.

  • This paper considers a discrete-time queueing system with variable service capacity. Using the supplementary variable method and the generating function technique, we compute the joint probability distribution of queue length and remaining service time at an arbitrary slot boundary, and also compute the distribution of the queue length at a departure time.

  • We present a discrete-time version of the distributional Little's law, of which the continuous-time version is well known. Then we extend it to the queue in which two or more customers may depart at the same time. As a demonstration, we apply this law to various discrete-time queues such as the standard Geom/G/1 queue, the Geom/G/1 queue with vacations, the multi-server Geom/D/c queue, and the bulk-service Geom/$G^b$/1 queue. As a result, we obtain the probability generating functions of the numbers in system/queue and the waiting times in system/queue for those queues.
