The simulation-based weapon system effectiveness analysis is to support the decision making in the acquisition process of the defense domain. The effectiveness of the weapon system is a complexly influenced indicator from various factors such as environment, doctrine and so on. And the measurement of effectiveness can be defined differently in compliance with major issues in the weapon system. Because of this, the weapon system effectiveness analysis requires the comparative experiment of various alternatives based on the underlying assumption. This paper presents the efficient approach to reconfigure the simulation using the reflection technique. The proposed method contains the recoupling and resetting the simulation entity using DEVS(Discrete EVent System specification) formalism-based dynamic plug-in method. With the proposed method, this paper designs the effectiveness analysis environment that can efficiently handle the various alternatives of the weapon system.
Timed Petri Net(TPN) is one of methods to model and to analyze Discrete Event Dynamic Systems(DEDSs) with real time values. It has two time values, earliest firing time ($\alpha$$_{i}$) and latest firing time ($\beta$$_{I}$) for the each transition. A transition of TPN is fired at arbitrary time of time interval ($\alpha$$_{I}$, $\beta$$_{i}$). Uncertainty of firing time gives difficulty to analyze and estimate a modeled system. In this paper, we proposed the Fuzzy Transition Timed Petri Net(FTTPN) with fuzzy theory to determine the optimal transition time (${\gamma}$$_{i}$). The transition firing time (${\gamma}$$_{i}$) of FTTPN is determined from fuzzy controller which is modeled with information of state transition. Each of the traffic signal controllers are modeled using the proposed method and timed petri net. And its Performance is evaluated by simulation of traffic signal controller. controller.
This paper describes dynamic simulation of the spent fuel storage system which is described by statistical discrete event models. It visualizes flow and queue of system over time, assesses the operational performance of the system acitivies and establishes the system components and streams. It gives information on system organization and operation policy with reference to the design. System was tested and analyzed over a number of critical parameters to establish the optimal system. Workforce schedule and resources with long processing time dominate process. A combination of two workforce shifts a day and two cooling pits gives the optimal solution of storage system. Discrete system simulation is an useful tool to get information on optimal design and operation of the storage system.

The object of this research is to develop a simulation system for earthmoving operations in consideration of the impact of congestion in-between equipment and existing traffic flow around the site. The congestion in-between equipment and traffic flow affect work productivity. The conventional discrete event simulation, however, has limitations in simulating the flow of construction equipment. To consider the impact of congestion in-between equipment and existing traffic flow, in this paper, a multi-agent based simulation model that can realize characteristics of truck behavior more accurately to consider the impact of congestion was proposed. In this simulation model, multiple agents can identify environmental changes and adapt themselves to the new environment. This modeling approach is a better choice for this problem since it describes behavioral characteristics of each agent by sensing changes in dynamic surroundings. This study suggests a detailed system design of the multi-agent based simulation system.
In this paper, we consider the optimal control problem based on Discrete Event Dynamic Systems(DEDS) in the Temporal Logic framework(TLF) which have studied for a convenient modeling technique. The TLF is enhanced with objective functions(event cost indices) and a measurement space is also defined. Our research goal is the design of the optimal controller for DEDSs. This procedure could be guided by the heuristic search methods. For the heuristic search, we suggested the Stochastic Ruler algorithm, instead of the A algorithm with difficulties as following; the uniqueness of solutions, the computational complexity and how to select a heuristic function. This SR algorithm is used for solving the optimal problem. An example is shown to illustrate our results.
This paper adopts the system configuration to assess the reliability instead of making a fault tree (FT), which is a traditional method to analyze reliability of a certain system; this is the reliability block diagram (RBD) method. The RBD method is a graphical presentation of a system diagram connecting the subsystems of components according to their functions or reliability relationships. The equipment model for the reliability simulation is modeled based on the discrete event system specification (DEVS) formalism. In order to make various alternatives of target system, this paper also adopts the system entity structure (SES), an ontological framework that hierarchically represents the elements of a system and their relationships. To enhance the calculation time of reliability analysis, GPU-based accelerations are adopted to the reliability simulation.
New and handoff calls control mechanisms are the key point to wireless cellular networks. In this paper, we present an adaptive algorithm for dynamic channel allocation scheme with guard channels and also with handoff calls waiting queue ensuring that handoff calls take priority over new calls. Our goal is to find better tradeoff between handoffs and new calls blocking probabilities in order to achieve more efficient channel utilization. Simpy is a Python based discrete event simulation system. We use Simpy to build our simulation models to get analytical data.

The sophistication of current software applications results in the increasing cost fur software development time. The component-based software development framework is proposed to overcome the difficulty and time-consuming requirements by modularity and reusability. As is the general software case, a component-based simulation framework encourages the reusability of the real system model based on the modularity of the applied simulation methodology. This paper presents a component-based simulation environment that is based on the DEVS/COM run-time infrastructure. The DEVS (Discrete Event System Specification) formalism provides a formal modeling and simulation framework for the generic dynamic systems [1] and Microsoft's COM (Component Object Model) is one of the strongest competitor fur the component standard. The reusability by the DEVS/COM simulation environment saves model development time remarkably and component technology make simulator itself to be a subparts of real application.

This study develops a dynamic scheduling model for parallel machine scheduling problem based on genetic algorithm (GA). GA combined with discrete event simulation to minimize the makespan and verifies the effectiveness of the developed model. This research consists of two stages. In the first stage, work sequence will be generated using GA, and the second stage developed work schedule applied to a real work area to verify that it could be executed in real work environment and remove the overlapping work, which causes bottleneck and long lead time. If not, go back to the first stage and develop another schedule until satisfied. Small size problem was experimented and suggested a reasonable schedule within limited resources. As a result of this research, work efficiency is increased, cycle time is decreased, and due date is satisfied within existed resources.
We propose a method to reduce the marking expression about the places when we model a discrete-event system using the Petri net. The net with reduced marking expression has the same dynamic behavior as the original model. The number of the places can be reduced by the number of the resource places of the Petri net, and consequently the net can be significantly simplified, still preserving the dynamic properties of the net.
