It is very difficult to forecast accurately a damage from the natural disasters which occurs frequently. If the significant weather event was forecasted one or two days ago, we will be able to minimize a damage from the severe weather event through the suitable prevention activities. It said that 2000's our country's total damages from the meteorological disasters was several trillion won(Park et al, a, b, 2005). Therefore, we analyzed the Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA) and television broadcasting's reports, information contents, and transmission system, an ex post facto valuation about typhoon Nabi which struck the Korean peninsula from September 5 to 7, 2005. Through these investigations, we want to present the basic data to rises the application effect of disaster prevention meteorological information. We think KMA must present many information report to promote a citizen's understanding about the meteorological information and the serious disaster situation. And also we think the KMA and television broadcasting must present an advisable reports, the contents which is suitable to disaster response stages. And we must grasp the problem of disaster prevention meteorological information through an ex post facto examination, improve it effectively.
This paper describes the design and trial development of a system that supports continuous hazard mapping by local residents in their daily life. We performed an interview survey to design our system in a model traditional town in Saga Prefecture, Japan. The results show that despite continued efforts, many practical problems remain and residents feel unsafe. Considering these results, we designed and developed a unique information and communication technology-based support system that contributes to community-based disaster prevention and reduction. The continuous resident participation and posting design are the core concept for our community-based approach. Our system continues to support making a hazard map by integrating the community-based hazard information. Local residents register information (disaster types, risk level, photographs, comments, positional information) about locations that could be dangerous in a disaster. In addition, our system enables information sharing through a Web server. We expect that this information sharing will allow local hazard information for each district to be used.

In order to maximize the effect of installing screen door system while to minimize the problems in an initial stage of introduction, it is strongly required to research an optimum installation solution in connection with ventilation and disaster prevention system alongside with safety structure analysis of screen door in respect to train-induced wind, as well as to develop the criteria for the operation after the installation. This paper presents the results of study to develop the optimum design technology in urban railway equipped with platform screen door systems.
Against the backdrop of frequent weather disasters such as floods, droughts, and heat waves worldwide, urban parks should provide functions for the safety of urban residents as well as rest, culture, and ecological functions. In this study, a classification system for urban disaster prevention parks is proposed for the safety of the urbanites with the aim of securing a complex function in a green space in response to climate changes in the city. Analytical indicators were extracted through literature research, and the classification system was verified through on-site surveys of the target sites and interviews with those involved. The large class for evaluation was divided into three types: location, spatial composition, and disaster prevention complex facilities of urban parks; the direction of improvement was proposed for problems identified through empirical analysis.
In order to manage traffic operations efficiently, it is required to establish evacuation strategies, including path, disaster prevention, and signal control. This is because the delayed response of operators would cause dreadful loss of our community. Therefore, it is very important to do the research related to traffic disaster prevention system. In this paper, we select the City of Cheongju as a study area since lots of damage resulting from natural disaster such as storm and flood have been frequently taken place. In addition, this paper suggest traffic disaster prevention measures and analyzed its effect on signal operation to achieve high level of traffic efficiency. As a result, traffic flow is similar to normal condition when we applied developed signal operation method. It is also demonstrated if disaster information is spread out as fast as it can be, and signal operation is managed properly in case by case, we conclude that user safety has to be secured.
In the case of medium and small-sized businesses handling hazardous chemicals, emergency disaster prevention by workers, rather than a disaster prevention system using a safety device equipped with an automation system in case of a leak accident, is highly likely to occur. In order to solve these limitations, in this study investigated an emergency disaster prevention system that can be easily removed and adhered to the expected point of leakage according to the occurrence frequency of the leak during the chemical handling process.

The building infrastructures such as high-rise buildings, shopping malls, exhibition centers, etc. are becoming larger in magnitude and more complex in complexity. Considering a large number of tenants and visitors are staying in these facilities, it is upper most important to keep those in safe from fire outbreak. In this paper, a u-Disaster Prevention System has been presented to provide effective fire evacuation when fire breaks out in building infrastructures. The ubiquitous sensor network (USN) technology was applied to detect heat and smoke from fire outbreak. The information then is transmitted wirelessly to a host computer. The tenants and visitors residing in the facility can evacuate following the instruction that is displayed in LED sign boards of the u-Disaster Prevention System. A case study shows that the ubiquitous environment can help people evacuate faster in time, shorter in distance with the assistance of the u-Disaster Prevention System.

To minimize the damage from disasters, various aspects of prevention, preparation, and response, etc. are being managed. Even though prevention and preparation are well conducted, irresistible calamities such as natural disasters may cause unexpected damage. Therefore, a system that can share the identical disaster information based on prompt disaster management and prediction must be developed and constructed for integrated disaster management. Especially, for a prompt disaster response, the same information needs to be shared between the related organization and the disaster prevention personnel such as on-site officials. Recent disaster management systems use high-capacity geographic information or other various factors for accurate disaster predictions. In case of using a recently constructed or researched 3D GIS, the system may not be used in some cases due to conflicts with hardware, etc. Thus, even though response information is secured using prediction simulation in advance, it is essentially difficult in some cases to share the common information when the system cannot be utilized or the extension of the corresponding data cannot be read. Therefore, this study aims to construct a system for dealing with disasters that shares the same prompt and accurate information in compliance with common data formats. The system is expected to reduce the existing disaster response time and minimize human and physical damage by assisting decision making through prompt responses.

As global warming and has caused the number of abnormal changes, much damage has occurred recently in Korean Peninsula from natural disaster. To prevent and cope with these annually repeated natural hazards, scientific analysis are needed in Disaster Management, including systematic management. In this study, As part of scientific disaster prevention measures, digital image based hazard map for solution to overcome the existing hazard map with schematic representation was constructed. which was combined digital image, digital map and hazard information, and than hazard information system was developed using the hazard map. The hazard information map and hazard information system are able to provide great service to the public and to support quick decision making for hazard management and analysis of natural hazard damage.
