  • In this paper, we introduce a new method detecting thyristor faults of the power converter module in Control Rod Control System. When we control the currents in each coil of Control Rod Drive Mechanism by using the current control method, the current value can follow the current reference despite the faults like the missing phase or the diode acting. Comparing the fault current values with the normal current values, the bad transient characteristics of the abnormal current can make the operations of control rods incorrect. In this case, the information from the current trends cannot be enough to detect the fault occurrence in thyristors. Instead of the coil currents, the state of thyristors can be watched by measuring the coil voltages. In the existing system of Westinghouse type, the ripple detector takes charge of this task. But this detector has some shortcomings in the point of time for fault detection, we come to devise a new fault detection method solving the problems which belong to the ripple detector.

  • A radiophotoluminescent glass rod detector (GRD) system has recently become commercially available. We investigate the dosimetric properties of the GRD regarding the reproducibility of signal, dose linearity and energy dependence. The reproducibility of five measurements for 50 GRDs is presented by an average of one standard deviation of each GRD and it is ${\pm}1.2%$. It is found to be linear in response to doses of $^{60}Co$ beam in the range 0.5 to 50 Gy with a coefficient of linearity of 0.9998. The energy dependence of the GRD is determined by comparing the dose obtained using cylindrical chamber to that by using the GRD. The GRD response for each beam is normalized to the response for a $^{60}Co$ beam. The responses for 6 and 15 MV x-ray beams are within ${\pm}1.5%$ (1SD). The energy response of GRD for high-energy photon is almost the same as the energy dependence of LiF:Mg:Ti (TLD-100)and shows little energy dependence unlike p-type silicon diode detector. The GRDs have advantages over other detectors such diode detector, and TLD: linearity, reproducibility and energy dependency. It has been verified to be an effective device for small field dosimetry for stereotactic radiosurgery.

  • In this paper, we propose a temperature independent the detective voltage source in voltage detector. The value of a detective voltage source is designed to become m times of silicon bandgap voltage at zero absolute temperature. By properly choosing the temperature coefficient of diode, the temperature coefficient of a concave voltage nonlinearities generated by the ${\Delta}V_{BE}$ section of diode between base and emitter of transistors with a different area can be summed with convex nonlinearities the $V_{BE}$ voltage to achieve the near zero temperature coefficient of the detective voltage source. We designed that the value of a detective voltage can be varied by ${\Delta}V_{BE}$, the $V_{BE}$multiplier circuit and resistor. In order to verify the performance of a proposed detective voltage source, we manufactured the voltage detector IC for 1.9V which is fabricated in $6{\mu}m$ Bipolar technology and measured the operating characteristics, the temperature coefficient of a detective voltage. To reduce the deviation of a detective voltage in the IC process step, we introduced a trimming technology, ion implantation and an isotropic etching. In manufactured IC, the detective voltage source could achieve the stable temperature coefficient of 29ppm/$^{\circ}C$ over the temperature range of -30$^{\circ}C$ to 70$^{\circ}C$. The current consumption of a voltage detector constituted by the proposed detective voltage source is $10{\mu}A$ from 1.9V-supply voltage at room temperature.

  • Additional neutral particle analyzer has been installed to investigate the variation of fast ion tails with regard to the line of sight during 2012 KSTAR campaign. The system has the same photo-diode particle detector as previous system [1]. Both newly installed system and previous system modifield for 2012 campaign have two channels. One has a particle stopper transparent to hard X-ray, the other has no one. It will be used to separate the hard X-ray component from total hard X-ray and fast neutral counts. It is expected to measure fast ion tails more clearly through this extended system. A detailed system and calibration result will be presented in the conference.

  • A simple and inexpensive colorimetric spectrometer for determining total cholesterol has been developed, comprising a diode laser as the light sourcoptical fibers for the light guide and a photodiode as the detector. The stabilty and performance of the new system was investigated by obtaining the calibration curve for stan-dard cholesterol solutions. The total cholesterol in humanserum was also measured by the analyzer and com-pared with the value obtained by a conventional spectrometer. The results showed that the developed spectrometer was useful for the determination of cholesterol levels. The visible diodelaser used in the study exhibited good spectroscopic and operational properties for colorimetric absorption spectrometry and could be a key component for the development of a simple and economical analyzer.

  • The radiative quantum efficiency of a solid-state laser was measured by photoacoustic spectroscopy with a PZT as the detector. The radiative quantum efficiency was about 58.3 % for a laser-diode pumped Nd:S-VAP laser under lasing conditions. The measurement of radiative quantum efficiency was presented as an effective method for the optimization of a laser resonator.

  • This paper offer the characteristics for the detection and classification of biological and non-biological aerosol particles in the air by using laser-induced-fluorescence (LIF) based Bio-aerosol Detection System (BDS). The BDS is mainly consist of an optical chamber, in-outlet nozzle system, 405 nm diode laser, an avalanche photo detector (APD) for scattering signal and photomultiplier tubes (PMT) for fluorescence signals in two different wavelength range ; F1, 510-600 nm and F2, 435-470 nm. The detection characteristics, especially ratio of fluorescence signal intensity were examined using well-known components : polystylene latex (PSL), fluorescence PSL, $2{\mu}m$ of SiO2 micro sphere, dried yeast, NADH, ovalbumin, fungicide powder and standard dust. The results indicated that the 405 nm diode laser-based LIF instrument can be a useful bio-aerosol detection system for unexpected biological threaten alter in real-time to apply for dual-use technology in military and civilian fields.

  • Near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy has become a widely used method in food and beverage analysis because of its speed, accuracy and the simplicity of sample preparation. One of the basic requirements of NIR instruments is a wide dynamic range if weak, or small, absorption changes or concentrations are to be measured. Thus the instrument must be sufficiently luminous, and efficient, to enable measurements to be made in a reasonably short time, as for some applications (e.g. sorting) short response times are essential. Diode lasers function the same way as lasers but linewidths are not as narrow as typical lasers. In this work an array of seven laser diodes (in the range of 750-1100 nm) with energy outputs of around hundred milliwatts each were combined with a fast diode array spectrometer (400-1100 nm, 1024 pixels, integration time from 3 ms) as detector. Measurements in transmission mode were performed in solutions of sugars in aqueous solutions and in deuteriumoxide. The feasibility of non-destructive measurements in transmission mode was investigated for different fruits and vegetables.

  • The PSD(Position Sensitive Detector) is a sensor for detecting the position of incident light. Because of its various advantages, it is used for position and angle sensing, optical range finders, laser displacement sensing, and etc. In the previous study of the position finding system, the laser tracking robot is developed. Small data rate and unidirectionality is the characteristics of data communication both DSP-based pan/tilt control board and the robot. If we can transmit data to the target using PSD sensor and laser diode module, there is no need for communication devices such as the bluetooth and wireless module. For this reason, this paper presents the new method for data transmission. Transmit data using RS-232 is modulated by a VTF(Voltage To Frequency) converter The laser diode module transmits the modulated data. And then the PSD sensor receive that data. Demodulation process is accomplished by the system which is consisted with trans-impedance amplifier, FTV(Frequency To Voltage) converter, and etc.
