The west coast of the Korean Peninsula is famous for its large tidal range (up to 9 m) and vast tidal flats. With comparison the sedimentary environments of open and close tidal flat using remote sensing, we select Kanghwa tidal flat and Hwang-Do tidal flat in Cheonsu Bay. Prior to surface sediment discrimination using remote sensing, sedimentary environments including intertidal OEM, hydraulic condition, and relationship between grain size and various tidal condition are investigated. Remote sensing has the potential to provide synoptic information of intertidal environments. The objectives of this study are: (i) to generate an intertidal digital elevation model (OEM) using the waterline method of Lansat TM/ETM+, (ii) to investigate the tidal channel distribution using texture analysis, and (iii) to analyze the relationship between surface grain size by using in-situ data and intertidal OEM and tidal channel density by using high-resolution satellite data such as IKONOS and Kompsat EOC. The results demonstrate that satellite remote sensing is an efficient and effective tool for a surface sediment discrimination and long term morphologic change estimation in tidal flats.
Mobility and cloud platform have become the dominant paradigm to develop web services dealing with huge and diverse digital contents for scientific solution or engineering application. These two trends are technically combined into mobile cloud computing environment taking beneficial points from each. The intention of this study is to design and implement a mobile cloud application for remotely sensed image fusion for the further practical geo-based mobile services. In this implementation, the system architecture consists of two parts: mobile web client and cloud application server. Mobile web client is for user interface regarding image fusion application processing and image visualization and for mobile web service of data listing and browsing. Cloud application server works on OpenStack, open source cloud platform. In this part, three server instances are generated as web server instance, tiling server instance, and fusion server instance. With metadata browsing of the processing data, image fusion by Bayesian approach is performed using functions within Orfeo Toolbox (OTB), open source remote sensing library. In addition, similarity of fused images with respect to input image set is estimated by histogram distance metrics. This result can be used as the reference criterion for user parameter choice on Bayesian image fusion. It is thought that the implementation strategy for mobile cloud application based on full open sources provides good points for a mobile service supporting specific remote sensing functions, besides image fusion schemes, by user demands to expand remote sensing application fields.
Interconnecting remote sensing systems to geographic information systems is valuable in many different applications. Two common techniques for moving data between these two related kinds of spatial data-processing systems were discussed. Digital classification of remote sensing data for use in natural resource inventory has produced mixed results. In attempts to improve classification, accuracy ancillary data, such as digitized maps and terrain(elevation) data, have been combined with remotely sensed data in various ways. These data have been used commonly in (1) preclassification scene stratification and (2) postclassification class sorting. These two approaches are found to be efficient, but lacking in sophistication due to their reliance on deterministic decision rules.
Irregular temporal sampling is a common feature of geophysical and biological time series in remote sensing. This study proposes an on-line system for reconstructing observation image series contaminated by noises resulted from mechanical problems or sensing environmental condition. There is also a high likelihood that during the data acquisition periods the target site corresponding to any given pixel may be covered by fog or cloud, thereby resulting in bad or missing observation. The surface parameters associated with the land are usually dependent on the climate, and many physical processes that are displayed in the image sensed from the land then exhibit temporal variation with seasonal periodicity. A feedback system proposed in this study reconstructs a sequence of images remotely sensed from the land surface having the physical processes with seasonal periodicity. The harmonic model is used to track seasonal variation through time, and a Gibbs random field (GRF) is used to represent the spatial dependency of digital image processes. The experimental results of this simulation study show the potentiality of the proposed system to reconstruct the image series observed by imperfect sensing technology from the environment which are frequently influenced by bad weather. This study provides fundamental information on the elements of the proposed system for right usage in application.
Recently, large scale natural disasters such as floods and typhoons due to climate change have been occurring all over the world causing severe damages. Among the various efforts to reduce and recover damages, recently, advanced information technology and remote sensing techniques are applied in disaster management. In this study, a real-time automated damage estimation system using information technology and spatial imagery was developed to accomplish prompt and accurate disaster damage estimation. This system is able to estimate the damage amounts of public facilities such as roads, rivers, bridges automatically through spatial imageries including ground based digital images, aerial photos, satellite images of disaster sites. Based on these spatial imageries, the damage amounts are analyzed in the Web-GIS based analysis system. Consequently, the digital damage reports such as digital disaster information sheets and damage maps can be made promptly and accurately. This system can be a useful tool to carry out prompt disaster damage estimation and efficient disaster recovery.
We propose a method for deriving the relationship between channel width and discharge from remote sensing products. Stream widths at points distributed along a river network can be measured from high-resolution remote imagery. Further, corresponding drainage area for these points can be calculated using digital elevation models, making it possible to construct width-drainage area relation. On the other hand, the relationship between the flow discharge and the drainage area is obtained from historical data measured at ground stations. By coupling these two relationships, we can finally derive the width-discharge relationship which comprises an important component of downstream hydraulic geometry. The proposed method was tested for the Nakdong River and the Seomjin River, successfully capturing power-law exponents in the width-discharge relationships reported in earlier studies. The proposed approach can serve as an alternative for obtaining the hydraulic geometry relationship under the limits of ground data.

portable white space device(WSD) obeying the Korean regulations of TV white space(TVWS) can cause harmful interference to a digital TV receiver residing at the same pixel around the edge of the digital TV service coverage for the case with a changed propagation environment. In order to solve this problem, we propose a method to allocate the resource of a hybrid WSD based on TVWS geo-location DB with spectrum sensing. Using the received power of digital TV signal through the spectrum sensing, a hybrid WSD can calculate the maximum permitted EIRP based on location probability. Based on the accurate allocation method proposed in this paper, it is possible to satisfy the Korean TVWS regulations and to eliminate the harmful interference to TV receivers nearby the hybrid WSD.
The promotion of new product is one of most important object for exhibition design. The majority of conventional exhibition technique has been implemented through one-way communication. However, using digital technology, development of new exhibition techniques is necessary for promotion of high-tech products and consideration of the phases of the times. This paper propose the various possibilities of exhibition design model which is using camera sensing and video input/output. Interactivity is efficient method to communicate between viewers and displays. Viewers can be participate actively and exhibition goal will be accomplish through this. Using camera as visual senses, video input/output technique is offered not only introducing new product but also entertaining viewers through various ways of representation. Physical experience and learning process can be expected from the exhibition space and the object. The classification of the artist who are using video input/output technique and exhibition examples are described. The collaboration on a work with the new media artist and the exhibition design will be complement each other. It will be solved the problems of realization and corporation of idea and technology.
In order to present a space in details, it is indispensable to acquire 3D shape and texture simultaneously from the same platform. 3D shape is acquired by Laser Scanner as point cloud data, and texture is acquired by CCD sensor. Positioning data is acquired by IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit). All the sensors and equipments are assembled on a hand-trolley. In this research, a method of integrating the 3D shape and texture for automated construction of Digital Surface Model is developed. This Digital Surface Model is applied for efficient feature extraction. More detailed extraction is possible , because 3D Digital Surface Model has both 3D shape and texture information.

In this paper, we developed the U parameter test system which inspects the property of DC parameter for semiconductor products. The developed system is interfaced by IBM-PC. It is consisted of CPLD part, ADC (Analogue to Digital Converter), DAC (Digital to Analogue Converter), voltage/current source, variable resistor and measurement part. In the proposed system, we have designed the constant voltage source and the constant current source in a part. The CPLD part is designed by VHBL, which it generates the control and converts the serial data to parallel data. The proposed system has two test channels and it operates VFCS mode and CFVS mode. The range of test voltage is from 0[V] to 100[V], and the range of test current is from 0[mA] to 100[mA)]. The diode is tested. The test results have a good performance.
