NPC Control Model for Defense in Soccer Game Applying the Decision Tree Learning Algorithm (결정트리 학습 알고리즘을 활용한 축구 게임 수비 NPC 제어 방법)

  • In this paper, we propose a defense NPC control model in the soccer game by applying the Decision Tree learning algorithm. The proposed model extracts the direction patterns and the action patterns generated by many soccer game users, and applies these patterns to the Decision Tree learning algorithm. Then, the proposed model decides the direction and the action according to the learned Decision Tree. Experimental results show that the proposed model takes some time to learn the Decision Tree while the proposed model takes 0.001-0.003 milliseconds to decide the direction and the action based on the learned Decision Tree. Therefore, the proposed model can control NPC in the soccer game system in real time. Also, the proposed model achieves higher accuracy than a previous model (Letia98); because the proposed model can utilize current state information, its analyzed information, and previous state information.

An Exploration of Players' Aggression: Role of Game and Life Self-Efficacy and Adaptive Game Use Tendency

  • This study examined whether game usage would alleviate players' aggressive tendencies. Other game-related variables, psychological care factors (adaptive game use tendency, game self-efficacy, and life self-efficacy), and psychological problem factors (loneliness and depression) were controlled for determination of the effect. We drew on the catharsis theory from therapeutic psychology literature to explain how game usage contributes to the alleviation of aggressive tendencies. Over two weeks data were collected from 918 participants online. The results indicated that gaming activity had a significant effect on aggression. Higher levels of game and life self-efficacy, as well as adaptive game use tendencies, decreased the degree of aggression. Likewise, higher levels of loneliness and depression reduced the degree of aggression. Results and implications are discussed.

  • This study is analytical prototype and usability studies centering on game development for game major in university curriculum by the collaboration of professor and students. The study set up the assumption of successful game development throughout the school curriculum initialized by fifteen weeks of time period. In the previous study, we defined the responsibility of positional personnel, and possibilities of current game majored school from both USA and Korea. The study aimed to analyze the productional guideline for the game development courses by conducting a usability survey from the groups of potential participants.

The Development of Game Addiction Treatment Program using Digital Storytelling (디지털스토리텔링을 적용한 게임중독치료교육 프로그램의 개발)

  • The study proposed new approach for the developing a game addiction treatment program using digital storytelling. We chose 5 types of multimedia elements as educational contents for digital storytelling learning and prepared the teaching strategy for game addiction treatment. We applied the proposed program to 5 students who were included the high risk-user group of game addiction. We also conducted the game addiction tendency test, game usage time test, interview and the effectiveness test of proposed program. As a result of tests, the proposed program showed a positive effect that reduced the game addiction tendency. In the effectiveness test of proposed program, we found the result that 5 experimenters were improved the immersions, challenges, and social interaction, sense of accomplishment in digital storytelling program. We expect that this study will provide positive role and new education strategy for game addiction treatment.

  • Education using smart mobile devices has become part of current children's art education activities. Today's release of pen-equipped mobile devices and smart tablet PC's allows users to painting and coloring with digital devices. Today, art content for children is downloaded and can be educated at any time as an application. However, coloring games that give children the effect of art education are extremely rare, and the content elements in the games are similar to all games and lack the ability to express themselves. The study recognizes the importance of developing coloring game content for children's art education that can help children's coloring activities and improve creativity and imagination, and focuses on the direction and elements of developing children's coloring game content using smart mobile devices that fit digital coloring functions.

  • This paper focuses on the sequences between game performance, game experience, game generation. Present-day the game has powerful effects to form new human species as game generation. Especially, the experience game is important because it could have one of the most powerful effect by characteristics of own interface. First of all, this paper analyzes a experience of the experience game and researches the game-extended space. Secondly, We create concept of 'new game generation' in order to explain new human species on the experience game. So we can reveal the social meaning of accelerated present state by the experience game through this new analysis.

  • With the development of OSMU mode in the game industry, the most popular 3D mobile game 'Honour Of Kings' in China, in addition to the entertainment effects of the game itself, has paid more attention to the production of promotional animation video contents in recent years. The huge animation market is generating abundant game revenue for 'Honour Of Kings'. This paper selected the most popular game promotional animations 'MU BIAO' and 'Bu Ye Chang'an' through a survey of 30 CG promotional animation in the official story station of 'Honour of Kings'. Important elements such as rich stories and the special effects of the gorgeous scenes, etc are summarized. Through the research of this paper, grasped the importance of promotional animation content in the game industry, and can expect the common growth of the game industry and the animation industry, which is one of the ways to create high profits in the game market.

  • This study examines the possibility of development into a place of existential human meaning and the process of formation of placeness based on the Simulacre theory of digital game space. First of all, the game space related to humans was reinterpreted into the Simulacra theory of Plato, Jean Baudrillard, and Gilles Deleuze, and typified into three simulacra of spaces. The formation process of placeness in the game space is presented by linking the simulacra of space, place theory, and the user's game experience that were reinterpreted. It is hoped that this will contribute to exploring the aspect of the placeness of digital game spaces for authentic experiences of various media.

  • Recently, as multi-platform game environments become common, many games of convergence genre have been produced, and the boundaries of genre division by existing platforms have become blurred. The game genre is convergence content consisting of user-centered 'narrative and play'. In this paper, we propose a game genre classification according to the user 's behavior type based on the essential recognition that the subject of the game is the user. The user's actions are done in different genres and goals and rules, and the interaction is an important act for immersion. Therefore, the user's behavioral classification and perception by the game genre are important and expected to help redefine the game structure.

  • The progress of the game engine make us easier to develop a game product and it is possible for one man to make a game. This means that if you have ideas about game, you can make a game as you thought only if you know how to design a game. Because the game designing is not the field that may not be used like tools and could not buy like graphical data. This study, based on the practice, presented to the understanding and guidance for people who want to know about game designing such as no experienced person and starting new game design. These contributions are supported by a detailed exploration of common understandings of game design methods so that I expect to help designing or managing the project.
