The optimal design of digital controller for deadbeat performance (데드비트 성능을 위한 디지탈 제어기의 최적설계)

  • This paper presents in some detail a discussion of the design of the digital control system without nonlinear elements to exhibit deadbeat performance in response to step inputs. The transfer function of digital dontroller is obtained by calculating the sequence of inputs and outputs of the digital controller for deadbeat performance. Digital controllers are designed for unity feedback multivariable systems by this method, which is well adapted for obtaining a solution by a digital computer.

  • Rotational machines such as optical disk drives, hard disk drives, and so on are subject to periodic disturbances caused by their mechanical characteristics. In the meanwhile, it is well known that repetitive control rejects periodic disturbance effectively. This paper presents a practical application of repetitive control to the track-following servo of an optical disk drive. The repetitive control system is composed of two repetitive controllers which compensate for periodic disturbances generated by track geometry and eccentric rotation of disk and a feedback controller stabilizing the feedback loop. A robust stability for all plant uncertainties is proved using linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). In the controller design, a weighting function is introduced for the feedback controller to ensure a minimum loop gain and a sufficient phase margin. The repetitive controllers and the feedback controller are designed by solving an optimization problem which can consider the robust stability condition and the system performance. The developed repetitive control system is implemented in the digital control system with a 16-bit fixed-point digital signal processor (DSP). Through simulation and experiment. The feasibility of the proposed repetitive control system is verified.

  • This paper presents a SDM using the FDPA technique. The FDPA technique is the added feedback path which is the delayed path of DAC output. The designed SDM increases the SNR by adding the delayed digital feedback path. The proposed SDM is easily implemented by eliminating the analog feedback path. Through the MATLAB modeling, the optimized coefficients are obtained to design the SDM. The designed SDM has a power consumption of $220{\mu}W$ and SNR(signal to noise ratio) of 81dB at the signal-bandwidth of 20KHz and sampling frequency of 2.56MHz. The SDM is designed using the $0.18{\mu}m$ standard CMOS process.

  • An adaptive digital predistortion (PD) technique is proposed for linearization of power amplifiers (PAs) in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transmitters. We consider a PD structure equipped with only one combined feedback path while conventional systems have multiple feedback paths. Hence, the proposed structure is much simpler than that of multiple feedback paths. Based on the structure, a new PD algorithm is derived. The simulation results show that linearization performance of the proposed method is almost the same as the conventional multiple feedback technique while the former is much simpler to implement than the latter.

  • This paper presents the design methodology of digital fuzzy controller(DFC) for the systems with time-delay. We propose the fuzzy feedback controller whose output is delayed with unit sampling period and predicted. The analysis and the design problem considering time-delay become easy because the proposed controller is syncronized with the sampling time. The stabilization problem of the digital fuzzy system with time-delay is solved by linear matrix inequality(LMI) theory. Convex optimization techniques are utilized to solve the stable feedback gains and a common Lyapunov function for designed fuzzy control system. To show the effectiveness the proposed control scheme, the network control example is presented.

  • In this paper, we propose a new approach for the implicit rating algorithm of finding user's intense and preference to the contents on the web. Although the explicit method dig out the user preference of specific contents based on the user's intervention, we propose the implicit method obtaining the user preference according to the user's behavioral patterns on the web implicitly and automatically without the user's intervention. The implementation results show that the proposed approach is highly valuable for supporting recommender systems in conjunction with the users lifestyle.

  • The active magnetic bearing system for a TMP consists of four couples of magnets, five gap sensors with its amplifiers and a digital PID controller. For stabilizing and providing damping, digital PID controller is applied for each control axes and the inter-axis cross feedback controller is also applied to suppress low frequency vibration caused by gyroscopic moment of the rotor. Therefore in this paper, a digital controller of magnetic bearing for a TMP is design and examined.

  • Magnetic Levitation System(MLS) levitates a steel ball to the desired position in the gravity field using electromagnetic force. MLS consists of light sensor to measure the position of steel ball and an electromagnet to control the position of the ball, that composes a feedback control system. This work does not use a steel ball with constant mass but variable mass steel balls as magnetic levitation targets. Differential equation of electric circuit for electromagnet and motion equation of the movement of steel ball are derived for modeling nonlinear system, that will be linearized at the nominal operating point. We propose a digital control that can levitate a steel ball of which weight is not known for ED-4810 system. Algorithm for estimating ball weight and feedback control are implemented in digital scheme under pentium PC equiped with A/D and D/A converter, ACL-8112, using C-language. Simulation and experimental results are given to show the usefulness of the proposed controller.

  • Menopausal women have to care for their health. Menopause is a symptom that needs to be managed in the long term, which requires safe and economical treatment even after long term use. This study proposes digital-based exercise therapy. This study also suggests resistance exercise and walking exercise methods according to the proof of previous studies. It provides motivational contents for those who cannot perform regularly. As motivational methods, self-efficacy and narrative-based history methods are accepted. Self-efficacy is improved through voice agents feedback during exercise. Feedback is a type of messages such as encouragement and motivation. The narrative-based history consists of characters of visualization that improves through values, which leveraged by the exercise.

  • In this paper we consider technological requirements to broadcast digital television signals using single frequency networks (SFN) in the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) transmission systems and propose equalization digital on-channel repeater (EDOCR) that overcomes the limitations of conventional digital on-channel repeaters (DOCRs). Since there are no forward error correction (FEC) decoder and encoder, the EDOCR does not have an ambiguity problem. In addition, since an adaptive equalizer in the EDOCR removes multi-path signals, additive white Gaussian noise (A WGN), and feedback signal due to low antenna isolation, the EDOCR may have good output signal quality with high power.
