The recent emergence of diverse platform-based media devices such as smart phones and iPads has aroused interest of consumers all across the world. This interest has led to digitalization of paper books and a steep growth in the digital publishing industry at home and abroad. However, advent of various devices and content has caused the issue of compatibility and produced needs and demand for standardization to exchange and share content related to digital publication. Through collection of opinions of 16 stakeholders from the industrial, academic, research, and public sectors, this study aims to examine predictable future changes about content and its distribution, devices, standardization, technical protective measures, and obstacles in future digital publishing and eventually to draw out areas and elements for future standards development.

The ancient paper document we chose as a case study for our research is "One Hundred Poets of the Tang Dynasty", which is housed in the Ryukoku University Library. The purpose of this research is to introduce a method to analyze the surface roughness and microstructure at a high resolution. In addition, we attempt to quantitatively measure the surface unevenness of the types and curve structure. We used a tridimensional digital microscopy as a non-contact and a non-destructive method to study ancient cultural paper. The information contained in the paper may be lost in the process of applying strong pressure to clean and lining or press. However, this microscopic measurement method can non-destructively analyze a large amount of data in old printed books. Moreover, it enables observing them directly with reflected light. Therefore, this method may be useful for collecting printed information remaining on the surface of the paper.

IDPF, which builds formats and copyright protection standards of eBooks, has announced ePUB 3.0 as a technical standard of eBooks in October, 2011. This standard includes methods how to represent eBooks and technical specifications to protect eBook content. While technical specifications for content protection describe how to represent encryption and digital signature techniques, they do not identify any technical standards for rights expression but just file names for storages of rights information. It does not provide any unification of copyright information representation and formats used by eBook service companies. When copyright protection techniques for eBooks are used, comparability among eBook readers cannot be expected, even though there is a standard of ePUB. This study suggests a method to maintain compatibility toward eBook DRM by using unified rights information process under circumstances where different eBook service companies use diverse methods. The standard reference software of the model proposed in this study, together with other results of this study, will be offered as a registered open software.

The roles and functions of domestic public libraries are diversifying, but various problems have emerged due to internally biased book lending. In addition, due to the 4th Industrial Revolution, public libraries have introduced a book recommendation system focusing on popular books, but the variety of books that users can access is limited. Therefore, in this study, the public library unborrowed book recommendation system was implemented limiting its spatial scope to Duryu Library in Daegu City to enhance the satisfaction of public library users, by using the loan records data (213,093 cases), user information (35,561 people), etc. and utilizing methods like cluster analysis, topic modeling, content-based filtering recommendation algorithm, and conducted a survey on actual users' satisfaction to present the possibility and implications of the unborrowed book recommendation system. As a result of the analysis, the majority of users responded with high satisfaction, and was able to find the satisfaction was relatively high in the class classified by specific gender, age, occupation, and usual reading. Through the results of this study, it is expected that some problems such as biased book lending and reduced operational efficiency of public libraries can be improved, and limitations of the study was also presented.

21st Century is getting into Super aging society worldwide basis. Among those population, silver(aged) generation users' physical condition, such as sight, hearing and body, is getting older, especially sight ability which processes 80% of input data, it requires us studying new smartphone GUI designs convergence for the elderly. In light of this social phenomenon, this study suggests smartphone GUI designs convergence guideline for the silver generation through the research of text, icon which are basic elements of smartphone GUI with proper visual attributes. I had inferred UX designs, expert group and evaluation categories from existing papers, related books and designed some displays for the survey. I also offered this guideline with the deep survey of 101 people over 65 years old.

These days a great mix of traditional and digital contents such as movie, broadcasting, advertisement, e-books, music, game, animation, cartoon, character, knowledge information, and art performance are widely available. Many more are yet to come, with improved quality and added features. It is expected that all these contents will be evolved into a new breed of convergence content through the process of consolidation, expansion, integration, and recreation. Across the digital ecosystem, a new formula is being added to the industrial structure : 'Information/Content-Platform/Device-Goods/Service.' In the near future, as a result of technological innovation and convergence, the business sector will lose its boundaries as well, as businesses will be forced to look beyond the product itself and focus more on multi-functionality. Especially, in the era of creative economy, more policies need to be crafted in order to procure a new growth engine for the future with the agenda for convergence between humanities and technology. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to analyze the concept, factors, elements, types, and cases of convergence, which are the essence of content convergence. This analysis, with its focus on the convergence process, will help identify the effects and limits of content convergence as well as the prospects for convergence contents in the smart ecosystem under the creative economic system.

This research proposed the space planing methode and diagrams of restaurant kitchens to improve hygiene by analyzing the related contents collected from books and researches in interior design and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point). HACCP is an effective and scientific hygiene system for food safety in order to prevent cross-contamination from food hazards. Based on the analyses, improvement of food production environments like restaurant kitchens is necessary for food hygiene. The space planing methode of restaurant kitchens to improve hygiene are followings: The circulation planing is that the direction of movement of the food, workers, waste, and dishes should be fractionated and managed for cross-contamination prevention. The space separation planing is that the spaces in the kitchen should be classified and divided into contaminated area and non-contaminated and clean area depending on the degree of cleanliness. The zoning is space arrangement with feed-back process to check the possible points of cross-contamination and correct space arrangement until the possibility of cross-contamination disappear in kitchen. However, if cross-contamination is unavoidable in some points in restaurant kitchens, hygiene facilities such as washing rooms, pass rooms, and double doors with air-shower should be located in order to remove contamination.

Steven Holl is outstanding architect who has been applied his phenomenological thinking to his works. he has been reported that he had adhered to focus his interest on coherent phenomenological theme and sublimated his architectural concept succesfully. This study focuses on relationship how phenomenological concept has common ground with architectural parts and with the study on phenomenological application methodology of architectonics of Steven Holl. In the case of Holl, with the theme of sense and flesh, he molds phenomenologically sensitive space. His works contains coherent phenomenolgical concepts such as distrust of rationality, synthesis of consciousness, and qeustions of perception. The Methodologies of connection with environment(nature or bridge), regional values, placeness, light and time are considered in his works(books and architectural works) as anchoring, interwining and parallax for phenomenological process in his concepts. His methodologies of enlisted works contain many valuable concepts of phenomenological intuition and would be applicable to contemporary and future architecture for humanism.

E-books have been popular and common in everyday life during past a decade, and the market is expected to grow much more because of the popularity of tablet computing devices such as iPad. With the helps from the devices, people want to read or experience more interactive, fun, and informative e-book contents. In order to meet those needs, we introduce requirements of an e-book viewer system that supports user interaction, 3D modeling view, and augmented reality. We also introduce some design issues of the system and its concept proof prototype system. We determine to adopt HTML5 for e-book content format because it already supports content rendering, multimedia, and user interaction. Furthermore, it is easy to implement e-book viewer because there is already Webkit component for HTML5. We also discuss design issues for integrating an Augmented Reality viewer with Webkit-based e-book viewer. This paper will give e-book viewer developers and contents developers some guidelines for new e-book systems.

Since a 2-dimensional (2D) bar code can retrieve data and information quickly, it is widely used and recognized as a useful tool for many industrial applications. However, the information capacity of the 2D bar code is still limited. Recently the analog-digital code (AD code), which has the largest storage capacity yet contained in a code, has been developed, thereby expanding the bar code's application range because it overcomes the limitation of data capacity. In this paper, we present the AD code and implement an effective embedded system which can transform text information into voice using the 2D AD code and Text To Speech (TTS). This voice information can also be transmitted to blind people as well as the old by capturing the AD code on paper or in books.
