  • Telecommunication services are distinctive in that their adoptions are influenced by network effect resulting in 'the late take-off phenomenon' and the 'critical mass' problem. In this paper we examined, so called, 'the late take-off phenomenon' in the diffusion process of telecommunication services. We compared the parameters of the diffusion process of consumer durables with those of fax services in the US and Korea. By analyzing the parameters of a new diffusion model based on the threshold model proposed by Markus, we found that 'the late take-off phenomenon' resulted from the low heterogeneity of the threshold distribution for the potential adopters. A simulation approach was proposed for the theoretical implication of the 'critical mass' problem in the start-up telecommunications services.

  • This study was predicted the diffusion of the conservative contaminant using a two-dimensional hydraulic model. The research area is upper basin of Jakwang river where the possibility where the pollutant of vast quantity will flow is high. Using SMS model, we calculated two-dimensional stream flow. And using this result, predicted the conduct of the conservative contaminant by pollutant transfer diffusion calculation. And also we predicted flow and contaminant diffusion in the near estuary by constructed guide bank. As a result of study, pollutant effect scope of the conservative contaminant was predicted with the fact that will broaden because of interception by guide bank. As discharge was increased from the Jakwang river, The diffusion of the pollutant is accelerated, also the effect scope increases.

  • Chloride ion diffusion is the most important thing of occuring deterioration in RC structure. According to establish data, the curing time in concrete reduce the chloride ion diffusion coefficient. The purpose of this study is to make clear through experience on the effect of curing time on the chloride ion diffusion coefficient in concrete with Portland cement and ground granulated blast-furnance slag and a propose the standard of chloride ion diffusion coefficient in concrete.

  • This study adopts diffusion of innovation theory and analyses product life cycle on two different information communication technology (ICT) products. One is telematics located on introduction and the other one is MP3 located on maturity. The analytical results were mixed. ordinary least square (OLS) result showed that adoption of MP3 player is affected by white noise error ($\varepsilon$) and telematics is influenced by innovation effect (p coefficient) rather than imitation effect (q coefficient) or white noise error. However, nonlinear least square (NLS) result showed that adoption of MP3 player is affected by imitation effect (q coefficient) rather than innovation effect (p coefficient). In addition, the ratio of imitation effect/innovation effect of MP3 player is larger than that of telematics.

  • In this study, we investigate the effect of the diffusion barrier and substrate temperature on the length of carbon nanotubes. For synthesizing vertically aligned carbon nanotubes, thermal chemical vapor deposition is used and a substrate with a catalytic layer and a buffer layer is prepared using an e-beam evaporator. The length of the carbon nanotubes synthesized on the catalytic layer/diffusion barrier on the silicon substrate is longer than that without a diffusion barrier because the diffusion barrier prevents generation of silicon carbide from the diffusion of carbon atoms into the silicon substrate. The deposition temperature of the catalyst and alumina are varied from room temperature to $150^{\circ}C$, $200^{\circ}C$, and $250^{\circ}C$. On increasing the substrate temperature on depositing the buffer layer on the silicon substrate, shorter carbon nanotubes are obtained owing to the increased bonding force between the buffer layer and silicon substrate. The reason why different lengths of carbon nanotubes are obtained is that the higher bonding force between the buffer layer and the substrate layer prevents uniformity of catalytic islands for synthesizing carbon nanotubes.

  • Cu+ ions drift diffusion in different dielectric materials is evaluated. The diffusion is investigated by measuring shift in the flatband voltage of capacitance/voltage measurements on Cu gate capacitors after bias temperature stressing. At a field of 1.lMV/cm and temperature $200^{\circ}C$, $250^{\circ}C$, $300^{\circ}C$ for 1H, 2H, 5H. The Cu+ ions drift rate of polyimide$(2.8{\leq}k{\leq}3.2)$ is considerably lower than thermal oxide. Also Cu+ drift rate of polyimide is similar to PECVD oxide. But, polyimide film is even more resistant to Cu drift diffusion and thermal effect than Thermal oxide, PECVD oxide: This results got a comparative reference. The important conclusion is that polyimide film is strongly dielectric material by thermal effect and Cu drift diffusion.

  • In this study, the diffusion behaviors of C and Co in liquid phase sintering of WC-Co system were investigated whether these two components diffused in the same direction in case of having opposite gradient each other with not being $\eta$ phase. The green compacts with controlled compositions in not being of $\eta$ phase and gradient composition which one is WC-5Co-1.2%C, the other is WC-XCo-0.2%C (where X = 5, 10, 15, 20, 25) were sintered at $1350^{\circ}C$ and $1400^{\circ}C$ and then the diffusion behaviors of C and Co were investigated by analyses of compositional change, also determined for microstructure and microhardness. Also, same testing was carried out on the specimens with dual layers sintered in upright and reverse positions to evaluate the effect of gravity on the diffusion in liquid Co. From the results of this study, we can find the fact that the direction of diffusion for C and Co in WC-Co system during liquid phase sintering was different and the effect of gravity for the liquid was insignificant. Also other physical properties were changed on the diffusion of elements.

  • Convection effect in liquids has been one of the main targets to be overcome in pulsed-field-gradient NMR measurements of self-diffusion coefficients since the temperature gradient along the sample tube generated by the heating and/or cooling process causes the effect, resulting in additional diffusion. It is known that the capillary is the most appropriate tube type for diffusion experiments at variable temperatures since the narrower tube suppresses convection effectively. For evaluating the properties of hydrogen bonding, diffusion coefficients of the $K^+$-complexed and free valinomycin in a micro tube have been determined at various temperatures. From the analysis of the obtained diffusion coefficient values, we could conclude that the intramolecular hydrogen bonding in both of the $K^+$ complexed and free valinomycin in a non-polar solvent is preserved over the observed temperature range, and the temperature dependence of hydrogen bonding is more pronounced in free valinomycin. It is also thought that there is no big change in the radius of the $K^+$-complexed as temperature is varied, and the ratio of overall radius, $r_{complex}/r_{free}$ is slightly decreased as temperature rises.

  • The diffusion coefficient of C.I. Disperse Red 4 in the dyeing of carrier-pretreated poly (ethylene terephthalate) film was Investigated by Sekido's film-rolled method. From the result it was shown that the diffusion coefficient increases exponentially with the content-ration of carrier in the film, and, for the films containing same concentration of carrier, the carrier effect was enhanced with the molar volume of the carriers. The greater carrier effect was accompanied by the decrease in diffusion activation energy and entropy, which shows that the carrier with larger molar volume plasticizes PET film to more extent.

  • Effect of diffusion induced recrystallization(DIR) on mechanical properties of hot-pressed TiC was in-vestigated. The TiC specimen was electroplated with Cr and then heat-treated at 1550. Through the DIR process a new set of (Ti, Cr) C mixed carbide grains with uniform and small size was formed at the surface. As a consequence the scattering in fracture strength decreased and the toughness increased.
