In this paper, we present wideband common-mode (CM) noise suppression using a vertical stepped impedance electromagnetic bandgap (VSI-EBG) structure for high-speed differential signals in multilayer printed circuit boards. This technique is an original design that enables us to apply the VSI-EBG structure to differential signals without sacrificing the differential characteristics. In addition, the analytical dispersion equations for the bandgap prediction of the CM propagation in the VSIEBG structure are extracted, and the closed-form expressions for the bandgap cutoff frequencies are derived. Based on the dispersion equations, the effects of the impedance ratio, the EBG patch length, and via inductances on the bandgap of the VSI-EBG structure for differential signals are thoroughly examined. The proposed dispersion equations are verified through agreement with the full-wave simulation results. It is experimentally demonstrated that the proposed VSI-EBG structure for differential signaling suppresses the CM noise in the wideband frequency range without degrading the differential characteristics.
We have calculated differential reflection coefficient for isolated well structure of micro-scale, etched on dielectric surface. The differential reflection coefficient is computed using Green's second integral theorem. The purpose of our computation is to find a class of well profiles which give maximal diffusive scattering. To have such a maximal effect, we have concluded that the waist radius of Gaussian beam and its wavelength should be comparable to the well width and that well depth has to be larger than a wavelength. Exact calculation of differential reflection coefficients of dielectric surface with isolated structure on it may be used for the examination of dielectric surfaces and also in making simple but efficient diffuser.

Differential signaling has become a popular choice for high-speed interconnection schemes on Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), offering superior immunity to external noise. However, conventional differential transmission lines on PCBs have problems, such as crosstalk and radiated emission. To overcome these, we propose a Twisted Differential Line (TDL) structure on a multi-layer PCB. Its improved immunity to crosstalk noise and the reduced radiated emission has been successfully demonstrated by measurement. The proposed structure is proven to transmit 3 Gbps digital signals with a clear eye-pattern. Furthermore, it is subject to much less crosstalk noise and achieves a 13 dB suppression of radiated emission. In the reinforced concrete structure, as the height of building structure increases, the accurate estimation of differential column shortening is important factor in the structural design. In this study, the analysis of column shortening is applied to 36-story building structure to be built in time. As a result, it may found that, as the difference of compressive stress become larger, differential shortening effect due to creep and shrinkage are more signicant factor to structural designer.

In this study, differential settlements of adjacent structure and behaviour of ground during tunnel excavation and the effect of micropile installed to preserve differential settlement of structure are measured and analyzed by model test. In the test results, the effective range of reinforcement is suggested.
In this paper we present the differential geometric approach for the analysis and design of sliding modes in nonlinear variable structure feedback systems. We also design the robust controller for the nonlinear system using variable structure control theory on the basis of differential geometric methods and feedback linearization applying Min-Max control based on the Lyapunov second method. The robustness against parameter uncertainties for robot manipulators with flexible joint is considered. Simulation results are presented and show the advantage of the proposed nonlinear control method.

A new via structure on printed circuit board has been proposed for differential signaling in applications of high-speed interconnection. In new structure, the via is physically separated and then divided into two electrically-isolated sections using mechanical drill routing process. These cutted vias are connected respectively to the traces of the differential pair. New via structure makes possible to rout the differential pair using only one via, while conventional via structure needs two vias for interconnection. Because the spacing even in via region keeps almost constant, new via structure can alleviate an impedance discontinuity and then enhance its signal transmission characteristics such as reflection loss and insertion loss. It is expected that new via structure is effective in differential signaling for high-speed interconnection.
In this paper, we propose a differential fault analysis on SSB having same structure in encryption and decryption proposed in 2011. The target algorithm was designed using advanced encryption standard and has advantage about hardware implementations. The differential fault analysis is one of side channel attacks, combination of the fault injection attacks with the differential cryptanalysis. Because SSB is suitable for hardware, it must be secure for the differential fault analysis. However, using proposed differential fault attack in this paper, we can recover the 128 bit secret key of SSB through only one random byte fault injection and an exhausted search of $2^8$. This is the first cryptanalytic result on SSB having same structure in encryption and decryption.

It is essential to control the lateral displacement and differential axial shortening of the vertical elements in high-rise buildings. Recently, an outrigger or a mega structure system has been adopted to control the lateral displacement. Furthermore, to resolve the problems caused by differential axial shortening in high-rise buildings, analytical prediction and correction is often studied; however, the study on the comparisons of the lateral load resisting systems to address differential axial shortening is less. Therefore, in this paper, a 60-story RC residential building using an outrigger or a mega structure system is analyzed with a construction sequence. Moreover, differential axial shortening can result in an additional member force of structural members and failure of non-structural members. These problems caused by differential axial shortening affects the behaviors and can damage the important structure member in the high-rise buildings. Hence, the effects of the systems on differential axial shortening between the vertical elements in high-rise buildings are studied.

Impossible differential cryptanalysis is an essential cryptanalytic technique and its key point is whether there is an impossible differential path. The main factor of influencing impossible differential cryptanalysis is the length of the rounds of the impossible differential trail because the attack will be more close to the real encryption algorithm with the number becoming longer. We provide the upper bound of the longest impossible differential trails of several important block ciphers. We first analyse the national standard of the Russian Federation in 2015, Kuznyechik, which utilizes the 16-byte LFSR to achieve the linear transformation. We conclude that there is no any 3-round impossible differential trail of the Kuznyechik without the consideration of the specific S-boxes. Then we ascertain the longest impossible differential paths of several other important block ciphers by using the matrix method which can be extended to many other block ciphers. As a result, we show that, unless considering the details of the S-boxes, there is no any more than or equal to 5-round, 7-round and 9-round impossible differential paths for KLEIN, Midori64 and MIBS respectively.
