  • In order to investigate the electrical properties of Transformer Oils, Volume Resistivity for transformer oils was made researches. in this paper, the specimen was produced by irradiation of electron beam, which is divided by the dose, 12[Mrad], 24[Mrad], 36[Mrad]. By investigating the electrical properties of dielectric liquid due to the difference of electron beam irradiation the effect of electron beam irradiation was studied. To measure the physcial properties of transformer Oils, Fourier transfer infrared spectroscopy was investigated. And the study for the electrical properties of dielectric liquid was made by measuring volume resistivity of specimen. the Electrode for the measuring Volume resistivity is formed coaxial cylindrical shape, and its geometric capacitance is confirmed to 16[pF]. In this experiments, Highmegohm meter which is model VMG-1000, was used for the measuring volume resistivity. the applying voltages were DC 100, 250, 500, 1000[V] in the temperature range of 20∼120[$^{\circ}C$]. By means of the result from this experiment the movement of carrier and the physcial constants to contribute dielectric properties is introduced.

  • A microwave NDI(Nondestructive Inspecting) method, based on SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) for inspecting such internal flaws or physical demage of FRP(Fiber Reinforced Polymer), is proposed in this paper. When a microwave is incident perpendicularly toward a multilayer dielectric FRP material, it gives a good response for the interfaces or transverse cracks. Interface depths or defect positions can be presented from the reflection waves, as using SAR imagery technique. As a result, it can be shown that such a SAR system can effectively inspect the type, size, or location of flaws within FRP composite material.

  • In this work effect of high energy milling on the structural and electrical properties of $Ba(Fe_{1/2}Ta_{1/2})O_3$ (BFT) ceramic synthesized using standard solid-state reaction method were investigated. X-ray diffraction studies indicated that the unit cell structure for all the samples to be hexagonal (space group: P3m1). FTIR spectra also confirmed the formation of BFT without any new phase. The milled (10 h) BFT ceramic showed the formation of small grain sizes (<$2{\mu}m$) which is beneficial for dielectric applications in high density integrated devices. Besides, the milled (10 h) BFT ceramic sample exhibited superior dielectric properties (enhancement in ${\varepsilon}^{\prime}-value$ and reduction in $tg{\delta}-value$) compared to un-milled one. Impedance analysis indicated the negative temperature coefficient of resistance (NTCR) character. The correlated barrier hopping model (jump relaxation type) is found to successfully explain the mechanism of charge transport in present ceramic samples.

  • The multi-dielectric layer $SiO_2$/$Si_3{N_4}$/$SiO_2$ (ONO) is used to improve charge retention and to scale down the memory device. The nitride layer of MNOS device is oxidize to form ONO system. During the oxidation of the nitride layer, the change of thickness of nitride layer and generation of interface state between nitride layer and top oxide layer occur. In this paper, effects of oxidation of the nitride layer is studied. The decreases of the nitride layer due to oxidation and trapping characteristics of interface state of multi layer dielectric film are investigated through the C-V measurement and F-N tunneling injection experiment using SONOS capacitor structure. Based on the experimental results, carrier trapping model for maximum flatband voltage shift of multi layer dielectric film is proposed and compared with experimental data. As a results of curve fitting, interface trap density between the top oxide and layer is determined as being $5{\times}10^11$~$2{\times}10^12$[$eV^1$$cm^2$].

  • Monolayers of lipids on a water surface have attracted much interest as models of biological membranes, but also as precursors of multilayer systems promising many technical applications. Until now, many methodologies have been developed in order to gain a better understanding of the relationship between the structure and function of the monolayers. Maxwell displacement current (MDC) measurement has been employed to study the dielectric property of Langmuir-films. MDC flowing across monolayers is analyzed using a rod-like molecular model. It is revealed that the dielectric relaxation time $\tau$ of mono layers in the isotropic polar orientational phase is determined using a liner relationship between the monolayer compression speed a and the molecular area $A_m$. Compression speed a was about 30, 40, 50mm/min. also, LB layers of Arachidic acid deposited by LB method were deposited onto slide glass as Y-type film. The structure of manufactured device is Au/Arachidic acid/Al, the number of accumulated layers are 9 ~ 21 and we then examined of the Metal-Insulator-Metal(MIM) device by means of I-V.

  • The electrorheological (ER) behavior of suspensions in silicone oil of silica gel powder (average particle size 49 $\mu$m) absorbed water was investigated at room temperature with electric fields up to 2.4 KV/mm. In this paper, for development of succcessful ER fluids used for wide temperature range later, we would like to know a fundamental understanding of water on ER effect. As a first step, the ER fluids involving water activated silica gel were measured not only the electrical characteristics such as dielectric constant, current density and electrical conductivity but also the rheological properties on the strength of electric field, the quantity of dispersed phase and absorbed water. From the experimental results that water absorbed to the particles directly affects to the surface charge density of electric double layer model proposed by Schwarz and makes dielectric constant and current density of ER fluids increase. The current density and dynamic yield stress $($\tau$_y)$ of water activated silica gel suspensions was in exponential proportion to the strength of electric field, the quantity of dispersed phase and absorbed water. And the optimum water quantity and weight concentration of silica gel for electrorheological effect were 4-5 wt% and 15 wt%, respectively.

  • In this paper, plasma modeling is achieved using fluid dynamics, thereby electron density is derived. The way proposes the key to overcoming the limitations of conventional researches which adopt simplified plasma model. The result is coupled with Maxwell-Boltzmann system in order to calculate scattering waves in various incident angle. The first part is dedicated to perform plasma modeling in dielectric barrier discharge(DBD) structure. Suzen-Huang model is adopted among various models due to the fact that it uses time independent variables to calculated potential and electron distribution in static system. The second part deals with finite difference time domain(FDTD) scheme which computes the scattered waves when the modulated Gaussian pulse is incident. Founded on it, radar cross section(RCS) is observed. Consequently, RCS is decreased by 1~2 dB with DBD plasma. The result is analogous to the RCS measurement in other researches.

  • We report parameters that allow the dielectric functions ${\varepsilon}={\varepsilon}_1+i{\varepsilon}_2$ of $AlAs_xSb_{1-x}$ alloys to be calculated analytically over the entire composition range $0{\leq}x{\leq}1$ in the spectral energy range from 0.74 to 6.0 eV by using the dielectric function parametric model (DFPM). The ${\varepsilon}$ spectra were obtained previously by spectroscopic ellipsometry for x = 0, 0.119, 0.288, 0.681, 0.829, and 1. The ${\varepsilon}$ data are successfully reconstructed and parameterized by six polynomials in excellent agreement with the data. We can determine ${\varepsilon}$ as a continuous function of As composition and energy over the ranges given above, and ${\varepsilon}$ can be converted to complex refractive indices using a simple relationship. We expect these results to be useful for the design of optoelectronic devices and also for in situ monitoring of AlAsSb film growth.

  • As the interest in the millimeter wave frequency (30 ~300 GHz) increases, Nonradiative Dielectric (NRD) guide is being more attractive due to its low loss characteristics. Most of millimeter wave components, which can be realized with waveguide, can also be realized with NRD guide since NRD guide has similar dispersion characteristics and field patterns to waveguide. Previously, Variational Method was applied to the gap discontinuity problem to design a gap-coupled NRD bandpass filter. In this paper, the design procedure was simplified by replacing the air gap region with an equivalent circuit model of an evanescent waveguide using the fact that the NRD guide has a similar structure with a dielectric-filled metal waveguide. Prior to applying this design method to the bandpass filter of millimeter wave frequency range, a bandpass filter of which center frequency is 10 GHz(3-Pole, 0.1 dB ripple, 2% fractional bandwidth) was designed and fabricated. The measured result agrees with one simulated with HFSS within an error range of a fabrication.
