The purpose of this study is two-fold: first, to examine the current status of e-dictionary use in Korea and the attitude toward its use by Korean college students; second, to investigate to what degree e-dictionaries may be useful and effective tools in helping to improve learners' overall English skills. The subjects were 84 college students and they were divided into two groups: the experiment group and the control group. The instrument employed was the Preliminary Student Usage Questionnaire, which was developed by the researcher, together with the questionnaire survey developed by Koyama and Takeuchi (2004), which was modified for the study. The findings from this research are as follows: First, a special instruction session on how to use e-dictionaries made a statistically significant difference among users of the dictionaries. Those subjects who had received the instruction displayed a more positive attitude toward the use of e-dictionaries. Second, the experiment group showed a more favorable attitude toward the use of e-dictionaries. On the basis of the above results, the researcher suggests that proper guidance on the use of e-dictionaries and their benefits should have a positive influence on users. The findings from the current research will shed light on the current status of electronic dictionary use among Korean college students.

The terms of the one-room dwelling began to attract attention according to increasing of 1-2 person households in the 1990s. The purpose of this study is to analyze the meaning of the terms about one-room dwelling written in the Korean dictionaries and the dictionaries of architecture terms. For this purpose, the first study was divided into three periods. The second study investigated publishing of the Korean dictionaries and the dictionaries of architecture terms and analyzed meaning of the one-room dwelling written in the Korean dictionaries and the dictionaries of architecture terms. The result are summarized as follows. 1) 'Bang' and 'Sil', the smallest residence unit, have sense of the living space. 2) The terms written in dictionaries were five terms. It is Dankanbang, Dankan house, Ilsil house, One-room house, Ilsil dwelling. 3) Dankanbang and Dankan house meant a detached house and only a single room. 4) Ilsil house, One-room and Ilsil dwelling meant a multi-unit dwelling. Dwelling type combined unit space in a single room. 5) One-room and Ilsil dwelling focused on convenience and multipurpose. The result of this study is expected to provide useful information for small sized housing study.

The aim of this presentation is to show the structures and characteristics of English-Korean Machine Translator 'Trannie 96' 'Trannie 06' consists of five main engines and various types of dictionaries. With respect to the engines, the English sentences filtered by Pre-processor are tagged and parsed. After the conversion form English sentence structure to Korean one, 'Trannie 96' constructs Korean sentence. As for dictionaries, each engine has more than one optimized dictionaries. The algorithms employed by this machine is based on Linguistic theories, which make it possible for us to produce speedy and accurate translation.

Objectives : To examine changes in Korean Medicine during Japanese occupation through major Joseoneo dictionaries. Methods : Based on the Keun Sajeon, published in 1957 by the Korean Language Society, the most recently published among the major dictionaries under Japanese occupation, key Korean Medical terminology in the Joseoneo Sajeon, published in 1920 by the governor-general of Joseon, and the Joseoneo Sajeon, published in 1938 by Mun Seyeong were analyzed. The differences among the dictionaries provided insight into the situation which Korean Medicine was in. Results : 1) There was a lack of consistency among Korean Medical terminology. 2) Changes in medical policies and legislation were reflected in the Korean Medical terminology without much delay. 3) Korean Medicine was distinguished as a separate category in the Keun Sajeon for the first time. 4) With the exception of Korean Medicine specific terminology, most were explained using 'modern' concepts and ontology. Conclusions : Modernization lead by the Japanese splintered many areas of Joseon society, and Korean Medicine was no exception. This transition period as reflected in the terminology within the Joseoneo dictionaries show that Korean Medicine went through a process of regulation by changes in medical policies and legislation, while new, modern studies brought in by the Japanese started replacing language and ontology of pre-occupation Joseon. A look into Korean Medicine during Japanese occupation through Joseoneo dictionaries allows us to examine the connection between Korean Medicine and the more broader historical context in which it was situated.

사전은 각종 자연언어처리 시스템에 있어서 고도의 언어처리 및 성능향상을 위한 필수 요소이며, 아무리 좋은 언어처리 도구와 알고리즘이라도 계산언어학에 근거한 양질의 체계적인 전자사전이 없는 한 이의 실용화는 불가능하다. 기존의 출판된 일반 사전은 자연언어처리 및 이해를 목적으로 하여 개발된 사전이 아니다. 또한, 자연언어처리 도구 및 응용시스템을 위해 개발된 사전은 각 시스템의 목적에 따라 각기 다른 체계에 의해 구축되어 있기 때문에 이용하는데 있어서 비효율적인 점이 있다. 따라서, 고도의 언어처리 및 이해를 목적으로 한 체계적이고 과학적인 방법론을 이용하여 형태소 구문 의미정보등 각종 정보가 통합된 통합정보사전의 개발이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 통합정보사전을 구축하기 위한 방법론을 제시하고, 이에 근거하여 개발한 통합정보사전 개발 시스템을 제시한다.

본 연구는 사전이 가지는 특징과 구조를 분석하고, 모든 한국어 사전항목을 손실 없이 인코딩 할 수 있는 마크업체계를 제안하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 국제표준인 MARTIF와 용어데이터의 상세한 인코딩형식을 제공하는 TEI를 분석하였다. TEI는 용어데이터베이스용 형식과 인쇄사전용 형식은 확연히 다른 형식이었다. 그리고 실제 사전 및 용어 관련 자료를 분석하여 한국어사전의 종합적인 미시구조를 파악하고, 그 미시구조를 MARTIF와 인쇄사전용 TEI에 대응시켜 적용가능성을 시험하였다. 그 결과, 두 형식 모두 한국어사전의 미시구조와 정확하게 매핑되지 않았으나 확장에 따라 두 형식 모두 사용가능 하다는 결론을 얻게 되었으며, 한국어사전의 특징을 살릴 수 있도록 하기 위하여 파악된 한국어사전의 미시구조 내용을 포함시켜서 새로운 두 가지 확장형식을 제안하였다.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to find the pronunciations suitable for the meanings of Chinese characters because the pronunciations of Chinese characters with multi-pronunciations in the "Huangdineijing" are written differently in Chinese character dictionaries(字典) and in Korean Medical dictionaries(韓醫學辭典) respectively. Methods : First, the annotations for pronunciations in the "Leijing" were searched, upon which the frequently mispronounced 16 Chinese characters in the "Huangdineijing" were selected. Then these selected Chinese characters were compared and considered with reference to Chinese character dictionaries(published in China and Korea), and Korean Medical dictionaries. Results & Conclusions : It was discovered that in "Leijing" there were 1,537 annotations that used 'FanQie(反切)', 'Pronunciation(音)', 'Replaceable character(通用)', 'Same character (同字)', 'Four intonations(四聲)' etc. In some places, there were additional meanings of the Chinese characters. It was found that 16 Chinese characters were susceptible to wrong pronunciations in the "Huangdineijing", for which the appropriate pronunciations in regards to the meaning of the sentences were determined.

So many terms of electrical engineering are nationalized words and Japanese words written in Chinese characters because electrical engineering is introduced from foreign countries. Many students who are not familiar to Chinese characters are difficult to study with this terms in the first step of electrical Engineering, In this study, the systematic compilation method of electrical dictionaries is proposed, which is based on the method of the standard Korean dictionary. Through this method, more systematic Korean electrical dictionaries will be compiled.

In this paper, we present a new approach for the progressive compression of three-dimensional (3D) mesh geometry using redundant frame dictionaries and sparse approximation techniques. We construct the proposed frames from redundant linear combinations of the eigenvectors of a combinatorial mesh Laplacian matrix. We achieve a sparse synthesis of the mesh geometry by selecting atoms from a frame using matching pursuit. Experimental results show that the resulting rate-distortion performance compares favorably with other progressive mesh compression algorithms in the same category, even when a very simple, sub-optimal encoding strategy is used for the transmitted data. The proposed frames also have the desirable property of being able to be applied directly to a manifold mesh having arbitrary topology and connectivity types; thus, no initial remeshing is required and the original mesh connectivity is preserved.

학문의 발전으로 새로운 개념의 생성과 함께 전문용어가 급증함에 따라 이를 체계적으로 집성하여 관리하고자 하는 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 본 연구는 전문용어사전에서 전문용어의 체계적이고 효율적인 뜻풀이를 위한 미시구조를 제안하고자 한다. 이를 위해 전문용어사전과 밀접한 관계를 맺고 있는 전문용어와 사전편찬학의 이론을 바탕으로 전문용어기술학의 특성 혹은 차이점을 살펴보고, 현행 전문용어사전의 미시구조를 분석하여 문제점을 파악한 후, 형태론적 측면과 방법론적 측면에서 미시구조에 대한 개선방안을 제안하였다.
