UIC기준에 근거한 틸팅 대차프레임의 피로강도평가 (Fatigue Strength Investigation of Bogie Frame for the Tilting Train under DIC standard)

  • This paper has evaluated the fatigue strength of a tilting bogie frame for the Korean tilting train. We have established the loading combinations for the tilting bogie frame based on the UIC standard because there are no standards for the tilting train. For this study, we have derived 31 load cases to consider tilting effect. Then, we have performed the static and fatigue analysis. From this study, we can make sure the safety of the tilting bogie.

Multiple effects of nano-silica on the pseudo-strain-hardening behavior of fiber-reinforced cementitious composites

  • Despite the significant features of fiber-reinforced cementitious composites (FRCCs), including better mechanical, fractural, and durability performance, their high content of cement has restricted their use in the construction industry. Although ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) is considered the main supplementary cementitious material, its slow pozzolanic reaction stands against its application. The addition of nano-sized mineral modifiers, including nano-silica (NS), is an alternative to address the drawbacks of using GGBFS. The main object of this empirical and numerical research is to examine the effect of NS on the strain-hardening behavior of cementitious composites; ten mixes were designed, and five levels of NS were considered. This study proposes a new method, using a four-point bending test to assess the use of nano-silica (NS) on the flexural behavior, first cracking strength, fracture energy, and micromechanical parameters including interfacial friction bond strength and maximum bridging stress. Digital image correlation (DIC) was used for monitoring the initiation and propagation of the cracks. In addition, to attain a deep comprehension of fiber/matrix interaction, scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis was used. It was discovered that using nano-silica (NS) in cementitious materials results in an enhancement in the matrix toughness, which prevents multiple cracking and, therefore, strain-hardening. In addition, adding NS enhanced the interfacial transition zone between matrix and fiber, leading to a higher interfacial friction bond strength, which helps multiple cracking in the composite due to the hydrophobic nature of polypropylene (PP) fibers. The findings of this research provide insight into finding the optimum percent of NS in which both ductility and high tensile strength of the composites would be satisfied. As a concluding remark, a new criterion is proposed, showing that the optimum value of nano-silica is 2%. The findings and proposed method of this study can facilitate the design and utilization of green cementitious composites in structures.

인장형 홉킨슨 바 장치를 이용한 알루미늄 단결정 및 멀티결정재의 동적 실험 (High-Strain Rate Tensile Behavior of Pure Aluminum Single and Multi-Crystalline Materials with a Tensile Split Hopkinson Bar)

  • 본 연구에서는 연성 금속재료의 판상형 인장 시편에 대한 동적 물성을 측정하기 위한 인장형 홉킨슨 바(TSHB, Tensile split Hopkinson bar)의 수정 방법에 대해 논의하고, 이를 이용하여 고순도 알루미늄 단결정 및 멀티결정재의 동적 물성을 측정하였다. 시편의 초기 미세조직 및 결정학적 방위는 전자후방 산란회절(EBSD, Electron backscattered diffraction) 분석을 통하여 측정하였으며, 동적 변형 후 파단 형상을 광학 현미경을 통하여 확인하였다. 고속인장 변형 중 시편 내부에 발생하는 변형 분포는 디지털 이미지 상관(DIC, Digital image correlation) 기법을 이용하여 측정하였다. 이를 통해 동적 변형 중 나타나는 알루미늄의 거시적인 소성 변형과 결정학적 방위 및 미세 조직과의 상관관계에 대해 논의하였다.

Estimation of the Cure Rate in Iranian Breast Cancer Patients

  • Background: Although the Cox's proportional hazard model is the popular approach for survival analysis to investigate significant risk factors of cancer patient survival, it is not appropriate in the case of log-term disease free survival. Recently, cure rate models have been introduced to distinguish between clinical determinants of cure and variables associated with the time to event of interest. The aim of this study was to use a cure rate model to determine the clinical associated factors for cure rates of patients with breast cancer (BC). Materials and Methods: This prospective cohort study covered 305 patients with BC, admitted at Shahid Faiazbakhsh Hospital, Tehran, during 2006 to 2008 and followed until April 2012. Cases of patient death were confirmed by telephone contact. For data analysis, a non-mixed cure rate model with Poisson distribution and negative binomial distribution were employed. All analyses were carried out using a developed Macro in WinBugs. Deviance information criteria (DIC) were employed to find the best model. Results: The overall 1-year, 3-year and 5-year relative survival rates were 97%, 89% and 74%. Metastasis and stage of BC were the significant factors, but age was significant only in negative binomial model. The DIC also showed that the negative binomial model had a better fit. Conclusions: This study indicated that, metastasis and stage of BC were identified as the clinical criteria for cure rates. There are limited studies on BC survival which employed these cure rate models to identify the clinical factors associated with cure. These models are better than Cox, in the case of long-term survival.

디지털 이미지 상관법을 이용한 치과용 복합레진의 수복 시 중합수축분포 관찰 (Polymerization Shrinkage Distribution of a Dental Composite during Dental Restoration Observed by Digital Image Correlation Method)

  • 손상된 치아의 복구에 사용되는 재료인 치과용 복합레진 Clearfil AP-X (Kuraray, Japan)을 대상으로 디지털 이미지 상관법을 이용하여 광중합 시 발생하는 수축분포를 관찰하였다. 디지털 이미지 상관분석법을 위해, CCD 카메라를 이용하여 광조사 중과 광조사 이후의 촬영 조건을 달리하여 사진을 획득하였다. 광조사중의 최적의 촬영 조건을 설정하기 위하여 노출시간을 0.15 ms부터 0.55 ms까지 0.05 ms 간격으로 촬영한 사전 실험을 통해 촬영 조건을 획득하였다. DIC 분석 결과 복합레진의 비균일한 수축 분포를 관찰하였으며 복합레진의 중심 부분에서 시편의 계면부보다 좀 더 자유로운 유동성으로 더 큰 수축이 발생하였다. 복합레진의 중합수축은 초기 20 s 의 광조사에서 최종경화수축률의 50~60% 수준까지 발생하였다. 이러한 치과용 복합레진의 큰 수축량은 레진/기질계면 근처에서 인장응력이 집중하도록 영향을 주었다.

t-링크를 갖는 마코프 이항 회귀 모형을 이용한 인도네시아 어린이 종단 자료에 대한 베이지안 분석 (Bayesian inference of longitudinal Markov binary regression models with t-link function)

  • 본 논문에서는 마코프 이항 회귀 모형의 시차가 알려져 있거나 그렇지 않은 경우일 때, t-링크 함수를 갖는 종단적 마코프 이항 회귀 모형을 제시한다. 일반적으로, 이항 회귀 모형에서는 로직 모형이나 프로빗 모형이 주로 사용된다. t-링크 함수는 t 분포가 자유도가 커질수록 정규분포로 근사하기 때문에 프로빗 모형을 대신 더 많은 유연성을 위해 사용될 수 있다. 게다가 마코프 회귀모형은 종단 자료에 대해 사용될 수 있다. 우리는 마코프 회귀 모형의 시차를 결정하기 위해 베이지안 방법을 제시하고자 한다. 특히, 각 모델의 차수에 대해 알고 있는 경우에는 DIC를 기준으로 모델 비교를 실시하였다. 모델의 차수에 대해 모르는 경우에는 가능한 모델들의 사후 확률을 이용하였다. 복잡한 베이지안 계산을 해결하기 위하여 Albert와 Chib (1993), Kuo와 Mallick (1998)과 Erkanli 등 (2001)의 방법을 이용하여 모델을 재설정하였다. 제안하는 방법은 시뮬레이션 데이터와 Somer 등 (1984)에 의해 조사된 인도네시아 어린이 종단 데이터에 적용했다. 마코프 이항 회귀모형의 순서에 대해서 아는 경우와 모르는 경우를 각각 가정하여 최적의 모델을 알아보기 위해 MCMC 방법을 사용하였다. 또한, 매트로폴리스 해스팅 알고리즘의 수렴성을 점검하기 위해 Gelman과 Rubin의 진단을 이용했다.

흉부둔상환자에서 인공호흡기 관련 폐렴환자의 임상적 분석 (Clinical Analysis of Ventilator-associated Pneumonia (VAP) in Blunt-chest-trauma Patients)

  • Purpose: Prolonged ventilation leads to a higher incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP), resulting in weaning failure and increased medical costs. The aim of this study was to analyze clinical results and prognostic factors of VAP in patients with blunt chest trauma. Methods: From 2007 to 2011, one hundred patients undergoing mechanical ventilation for more than 48 hours were divided into two groups: a VAP-negative group, (32 patients, mean age; 53 years, M:F=25:7) and a VAP- positive group, (68 patients, mean age; 60 years, M:F=56:12). VAP was diagnosed using clinical symptoms, radiologic findings and microorganisms. The injury severity score (ISS), shock, combined injuries, computerized tomographic pulmonary findings, transfusion, chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD), ventilation time, stay in intensive care unit (ICU) and hospital stays, complications such as sepsis or disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) and microorganisms were analyzed. Chi square, t-test, Mann-Whitney U test and logistic regression analysies were used with SPSS 18 software. Results: Age, sex, ISS, shock and combined injuries showed no differences between the VAP - negative group and - positive group (p>0.05), but ventilation time, ICU and hospital stays, blood transfusion and complications such as sepsis or DIC showed significant differencies (p<0.05). Four patients(13%) showed no clinical symptoms eventhough blood cultures were positive. Regardless of VAP, mortality-related factors were shock (p=0.036), transfusion (p=0.042), COPD (p=0.029), mechanical ventilation time (p=0.011), ICU stay (p=0.032), and sepsis (p=0.000). Microorgnisms were MRSA(43%), pseudomonas(24%), acinetobacter(16%), streptococcus(9%), klebsiela(4%), staphillococus aureus(4%). However there was no difference in mortality between the two groups. Conclusion: VAP itself was not related with mortality. Consideration of mortality-related factors for VAP and its aggressive treatment play important roles in improving patient outcomes.

유압벌지실험을 이용한 순 티탄늄 판재의 소성유동곡선 평가(제2보) (Evaluation of plastic flow curve of pure titanium sheet using hydraulic bulge test)

  • 본 논문에서는 대형 선박의 판형 열교환기 등에 널리 이용되고 있는 순 티타늄 판재의 소성변형을 유한요소해석하기 위한 기초 데이터로서 순 티타늄 판재의 유동곡선을 평가하였다. 순 티타늄 판재의 프레스 가공 시에 판재에는 국부적으로 큰 소성변형이 발생하고 있다. 그러나 기존의 단축 인장실험에서 얻을 수 있는 소성변형률이 낮아서 티타늄 판재의 가공공정 설계를 위한 유한요소해석의 정밀도를 떨어뜨리는 경우가 있다. 본 연구에서는 큰 소성변형률 까지 안정적으로 성형이 가능한 유압벌지실험을 수행하여 재료의 소성변형에서 가공경화특성을 나타내는 유동곡선으로써 진응력-진변형률 선도를 구하였고 그 결과를 인장실험 결과와 비교하였다. 순 티타늄 판재의 유압벌지실험에서 재료의 변형률은 3D 디지털 영상상관법을 이용한 ARAMIS 시스템으로 실시간 측정된다. 이 유압벌지실험으로부터는 소성 변형률이 0.65 이상 까지도 안정적으로 재료의 소성유동곡선을 얻을 수 있었으며 그 결과는 Kim-Tuan 이 문헌 17[Y.S. Kim, J.H. In, Korean Acadmia-Ind. Coop. Soc.,(be in print), 2016] 의 연구에서 제안한 가공경화식으로 잘 핏팅됨을 알 수 있었다.

상악골에 발생한 악성섬유성조직구종 (MALIGNANT FIBROUS HISTIOCYTOMA OF THE MAXILLA ; REPORT OF A CASE)

  • 우측 협부의 종창과 압통을 주소로 내원한 59세의 여자 환자에서 방사선 소견상 우측 상악골의 광범위한 골파괴상이 나타났고 조직생검에서 MFH로 진단되었다. 치료는 술전과 술후에 SWOG외 CY-VA-DIC요법을 변형시킨 화학요법과 총 40Gy의 $^{60}Co$ 방사선요법 그리고 우측 상악골전적출술의 삼자병용요법을 시행하였다. 술후 2년이 경과된 현재까지 재발이나 전이 등의 소경은 관찰되지 않고 있으며 환자의 예후에 대하여 주의 깊은 관찰을 계속하고 있다.

Effects of water on rock fracture properties: Studies of mode I fracture toughness, crack propagation velocity, and consumed energy in calcite-cemented sandstone

  • Water-induced strength reduction is one of the most critical causes for rock deformation and failure. Understanding the effects of water on the strength, toughness and deformability of rocks are of a great importance in rock fracture mechanics and design of structures in rock. However, only a few studies have been conducted to understand the effects of water on fracture properties such as fracture toughness, crack propagation velocity, consumed energy, and microstructural damage. Thus, in this study, we focused on the understanding of how microscale damages induced by water saturation affect mesoscale mechanical and fracture properties compared with oven dried specimens along three notch orientations-divider, arrester, and short transverse. The mechanical properties of calcite-cemented sandstone were examined using standard uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) and Brazilian tensile strength (BTS) tests. In addition, fracture properties such as fracture toughness, consumed energy and crack propagation velocity were examined with cracked chevron notched Brazilian disk (CCNBD) tests. Digital Image Correlation (DIC), a non-contact optical measurement technique, was used for both strain and crack propagation velocity measurements along the bedding plane orientations. Finally, environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM) was employed to investigate the microstructural damages produced in calcite-cemented sandstone specimens before and after CCNBD tests. As results, both mechanical and fracture properties reduced significantly when specimens were saturated. The effects of water on fracture properties (fracture toughness and consumed energy) were predominant in divider specimens when compared with arrester and short transverse specimens. Whereas crack propagation velocity was faster in short transverse and slower in arrester, and intermediate in divider specimens. Based on ESEM data, water in the calcite-cemented sandstone induced microstructural damages (microcracks and voids) and increased the strength disparity between cement/matrix and rock forming mineral grains, which in turn reduced the crack propagation resistance of the rock, leading to lower both consumed energy and fracture toughness ($K_{IC}$).
