  • SRM(Switched Reluctance Motor) has been highlighted for a next generation electric drive for electric vehicles. ISO 26262 FOI(Freedom of Interference) is mandatory requirement for an existing SRM driver to be reused as AUTOSAR CDD(Complex Device Driver). Therefore, this research is to provide an ISO 26262 FOI fulfilling method of AUTOSAR CDD SRM driver.

  • The cooling system is one of the most concerning factor for the reliability of the electric propulsion ship. Generally, a drive system operation in higher temperature decreases the device's reliability and power efficiency. The management of power loss and temperature of switching devices is indispensable for the reliability of the power electric system. In this paper, the switching devices are molded by IGBT, and the propulsion system is consisted of MIIR(Motor with Inverter Internal to Rotor). The system composition interacts with each other to calculate the loss and temperature of device. The calculation result is used for modeling and designing of the control and monitoring system for the electric propulsion system.

  • In order to decrease the power consumption in Embedded Linux environment based on XScale PXA255, We produce the device driver of DFS(Dynamic Frequency Scaling) technique, design and implement the middleware DFM(Dynamic Frequency Management) to scale the power of embedded target board with porting this device drive, suggest the method to reduce the Embedded system's power consumption.

  • Red emitting CaS:Eu,S electroluminescent(EL) device prepared at 550.deg. C by an electron-beam evaporation technique, demonstrated luminance of 175cd/m$\^$2/ and efficiency of 0.311m/W with 3kHz drive. Luminance was increased with the increase of applied voltage and frequency. From the results of the PL spectrum and the EL spectrum, the CaS:Eu, S device showed emission peak near 640nm resulted from the transition of EU$\^$2+/ 4f$\^$6/5d.rarw.4f$\^$7/. The capacitance of the phosphor layer from the Sawyer-Tower circuit was 10.5nF/cm$\^$2/.

  • This paper describes a gate driver that operates numerous semiconductor switch in the solide-state pulsed power modulator. the proposed gate driver is designed to receive both the isolated drive-power and the on/off pulse signals through the transformer. Moreover, the IGBT-switch can be quickly turned off by adding protection circuit. Therefore it protects the IGBT-switch from the arc condition that frequently occurs in high-voltage pulse application. To comprehend operating characteristic of each IGBT-switch in pulse output condition, the device consisting of a high efficiency soft-switching capacitor charger and two series stacking IGBT-switch is developed. Finally, the relability of the proposed gate driver and the device for its test are proved through PSpice simulation and experiments.

  • The electrical characteristics of high power LIGBT implemented by CMOS process are described and compared with those of high voltage LDMOSFET with the same device dimensions. LIGBT has exhibited approximately 8 times superior current drive capability than LDMOSFET. The proposed p+/n+ anode structure resulted in the significant increase of on-state breakdown voltage of LIGBT. Therefore, LIGBT suggested in this paper is one of the promising candidate for smart power IC applications.

  • In recent days, the various adjustable speed drives are widely employed at the industrial applications for the purpose of energy saving and speed control. In particular, for the machine control applications. the switching frequency is required to be increased for better dynamic performance of the drive. Moreover, this also leads to the reduction of the switching loss of the device. For IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor), the most widely used switching device in the inverters below the 100[kW] range, the falling and falling time is of the order about $200{\sim}300[ns]$. Therefore unexpected phenomena occurs such as voltage spikes due to high gradient of current at the switching instant, the weakening of motor insulation due to high gradient of voltage. In this paper, a new voltage gradient suppression technique is presented in both theoretically and experimentally.

  • This work describes a hardware implementation of a precision image tracking system which employs a CCD camera mounted on pan/tilt device. Unknown translation between two successive images of a moving object is estimated by using a generalized least-squares method. Estimated position error obtained by the tracking algorithm is used to drive DC motors built in the pan/tilt device for the camera to follow the image. An experimental result shows a sub-resolution tracking error for a image moving with a uniform velocity.

  • In applying LCD to TV application, one of the most significant factors to be improved is image sticking on the moving picture. LCD is different from CRT in the sense that it's continuous passive device, whichholds images in entire frame period, while impulsetype device generate image in very short time. We realized articulate image generation similar to CRT by CCFL blinking drive and TN-LCD overdriving. As a result, reduced image sticking phenomenon was validated by naked eye and response time measureme.

Ti:LiNbO3 2×2 Optical Add/Drop Multiplexers Utilizing Acousto-Optic Effect

  • An integrated optical 2$\times$2 add/drop multiplexer in X-cut, Y-propagating LiNbO$_3$ has been demonstrated. The device consists of passive polarization splitters and acousto-optical mode converters with weighted coupling utilizing tapered acoustical directional couplers; their specific design and properties are discussed. The insertion loss has been measured to be about -8.16 ㏈ and -8.6 ㏈ for TE and TM polarizations, respectively. The device shows a 3 ㏈ bandwidth of 2.3 nm, a tuning rate 8.34 nm/MHz around λ = 1554 nm, and a sidelobe suppression of about 14.5 ㏈. Optimum operation is achieved with a RF drive power of about 43 ㎽. Multi-wavelength operation has been demonstrated.
