Study of Registry Designing for the Hydrographic Data Standard Technology Operation (수로정보 표준기술 운용을 위한 등록소 설계 연구)

  • The IHO developed the S-100 standard for Digital Hydrographic Data in order to assist the proper and efficient use of hydrographic data and information for the safety of navigation and the protection of marine environment. The former model, S-57, was considered outdated to be utilized as the basis for the next-generation Electronic Chart(ENC) product specification. The key feature of the S-100 standard is the use of Registry and its components, Registers. This online-based Registry provides a universal standard that can be implemented in the actual performance of the navigation system with convenience. In the current situation, the only registry is owned by the IHO and it is available to domain experts. However, since S-100 is an international standard operated by an international organization, the process of the changes and updates of the data requires time before immediate implementation when demanded. Therefore, regarding the safety of navigation of the domestic users and mariners, a separate domestic registry is necessary to develop a domestic Information Registry. This study specifically aims to build a Registry based on IHO published S-99 through designing an adequate website dedicated for its purpose to provide collection of definitions and hydrographic data.

Maturity-Based Model for Concrete Compressive Strength with Different Supplementary Cementitious Materials (혼화재 치환율을 고려한 성숙도 기반의 콘크리트 압축강도 평가 모델)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose a simple model to evaluate the compressive strength development of concrete with various supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) and cured under different temperatures. For the generalization of the model, the ACI 209 parabola equation was modified based on the maturity function and then experimental constants A and B and 28-day compressive strength were determined from the regression analysis using a total of 265 data-sets compiled from the available literature. To verify the proposed model, concrete specimens classified into 3 Groups were prepared according to the SCM level as a partial replacement of cement and curing temperature. The analysis of existing data clearly revealed that the 28-day compressive strength decreases when the curing temperature is higher and/or lower than the reference curing temperature ($20^{\circ}C$). Furthermore, test results showed that the compressive strength development of concrete cured under $20^{\circ}C$ until an early age of 3 days was marginally affected by the curing temperature afterward. The proposed model accurately predicts the compressive strength development of concrete tested, indicating that the mean and standard deviation of the ratios between predictions and experiments are 1.00 and 0.08, respectively.

  • A modeling system that can consider the overall water environment and be used to integrate hydrology, water quality, and aquatic ecosystem on a watershed scale is essential to support decision-making in integrated water resources management (IWRM). In adapting imported models for evaluating the unique water environment in Korea, a platform perspective is becoming increasingly important. In this study, a modeling platform is defined as an ecosystem that continuously grows and provides sustainable values through voluntary participation- and interaction-of all stakeholders- not only experts related to model development, but also model users and decision-makers. We assessed the conceptual values provided by the IWRM modeling platform in terms of openness, transparency, scalability, and sustainability. I We also reviewed the technical aspects of functional and spatial integrations in terms of socio-economic factors and user-centered multi-scale climate-forecast information. Based on those conceptual and technical aspects, we evaluated potential modeling platforms such as Source, FREEWAT, Object Modeling System (OMS), OpenMI, Community Surface-Dynamics Modeling System (CSDMS), and HydroShare. Among them, CSDMS most closely approached the values suggested in model development and offered a basic standard for easy integration of existing models using different program languages. HydroShare showed potential for sharing modeling results with the transparency expected by model user-s. Therefore, we believe that can be used as a reference in development of a modeling platform appropriate for managing the unique integrated water environment in Korea.

Development of a Design Model for School Library-based Instruction under EduTech (에듀테크 기반 학교도서관활용교육 설계 모형 개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose a design model for school library based instruction under EduTech. EduTech-based education expands learning boundaries and requires new instructional environments and learning experiences for learner-centered deeper learning. Accordingly, this study modified the ADDIE model based on the system theory and presented a four-stage instructional design model (draft) consisting of 'analysis stage, preliminary learning and development stage, learning management stage, and team teaching evaluation stage.' This model reflects elements of flipped learning, the backward design model, and inquiry-based learning to develop of customized student materials and inquiry activities. In addition, the scope of learning was expanded to include prior learning, face-to-face learning, and additional learning to increase the diversity of collaboration and opportunities to utilize school library materials. Also, Several ways for school library based instruction within EduTec were proposed in terms of teacher librarians' expertise, school library space, budget, standard curriculum development, and comprehensive support system for reading education.

  • We developed a framework of consisting of concept understanding and learning activities in the area of algorithm and programming for constructing SW curriculum that can be used in school field. Based on this, it is composed of five levels of achievement standards by area. The algorithm area consists of 18 achievement standards elements, and the programming area consists of 21 elements. To examine the importance of content about achievement standards and the appropriateness of the education time of each area, its validity was suggested through expert verification by delphi survey. The present study could be utilized as the research data of the standard model of information education curriculum and provides important implications for the development of SW curriculum in the school field.

Performance Comparison between Neural Network and Genetic Programming Using Gas Furnace Data

  • This study describes design and development techniques of estimation models for process modeling. One case study is undertaken to design a model using standard gas furnace data. Neural networks (NN) and genetic programming (GP) are each employed to model the crucial relationships between input factors and output responses. In the case study, two models were generated by using 70% training data and evaluated by using 30% testing data for genetic programming and neural network modeling. The model performance was compared by using RMSE values, which were calculated based on the model outputs. The average RMSE for training and testing were 0.8925 (training) and 0.9951 (testing) for the NN model, and 0.707227 (training) and 0.673150 (testing) for the GP model, respectively. As concern the results, the NN model has a strong advantage in model training (using the all data for training), and the GP model appears to have an advantage in model testing (using the separated data for training and testing). The performance reproducibility of the GP model is good, so this approach appears suitable for modeling physical fabrication processes.

  • Mobile application is software executing on smart devices regardless of the time and place. Many individuals and companies have provided a lot of mobile applications services. However, there is not certain standard in terms of application's quality evaluation because study is deficient compared with increase amount of development of mobile application. Moreover, mobile application basically has many special characteristics. For these reasons mobile application is required special standard of quality different from general software. To satisfy these needs, I design and propose mobile application evaluation model. Evaluation model is mapped by characteristics of mobile application based on ISO/IEC 25000's quality characteristics and propose each quality characteristics and metrics. For verification, scenario-based studies were applied to quality model and carried out.

  • The compression of software development schedule has a limit without regarding to a development manpower. However, the actually developed softwares includes the impossible short time or unreal long time date. Previously suggested models are driving the development schedule from all of the actually developed software without considering these constraints. This paper recommends a standard of minimum and the most suitable development time period. This paper has chosen a criterion that shows the best development schedule among 5 criteria based on the actually performed projects. Moreover, this paper suggests a model that estimates the development schedule based on the best criterion.

  • Lately, as importance of biometric is recognized, domestic and foreign biometric software market is soaring and the requests of high reliability and quality of biometric software are inclosed. Evaluation items and criteria must be established for the biometric software quality certification. In this paper, we development the evaluation module for biometric software test based on ISO/IEC 12119 that is the standard about package software quality requirement and test, and ISO/IEC 9126 that is the standard about evaluation of software product, and ISO/IEC 14598-6 that is the standard for construction of the evaluation module. We think that this study can be used in establishing the software quality evaluation method of bio information processing software and constructing the basis for quality improvement.

Development of the intermittency turbulence model for a plane jet flow (자유 평면 제트유동 해석을 위한 간혈도 난류모델의 개발)

  • In a turbulent free shear flow, the large scale motion is characterized by the intermittent flow which arises from the interaction between the turbulent fluid and the irrotational fluid of the environment through the mean velocity gradient. This large scale motion causes a bulk convection whose effect is similar to the spatial diffusion process. In this paper, the total diffusion process is proposed to be approximated by weighted sum of the bulk convection due to the large scale motion and the usual gradient diffusion due to small scale motion. The diffusion term in conventional .kappa.-.epsilon. model requires on more equation of the intermittency transport equation. A production term of this equation means mass entrainment from the irrotational fluid to the turbulent one. In order to test the validity of the proposed model, a plane jet is predicted by this method. Numerical results of this model is found to yield better agreement with experiment than the standard .kappa.-.epsilon. model and Byggstoyl & Kollmann's model(1986). Present hybrid diffusion model requires further tests for the check of universality of model and for the model constant fix.
