MMORPG Development Company's Successful Market Entry Strategy : A Case Study of NHNgames (MMORPG 산업에서의 성공적인 시장 진입 전략 : NHNgames 사례를 중심으로)

  • Online game industry has achieved remarkable development not only in Korea, but also in the world with support from huge progress in information technology. By the way, there was calm period that top tier MMORPGs had held their ranks in oligopoly situation before Aion's appearance. At that time, NHNgames succeeded to penetrate into the market and settle down as a major player. In this context, this study will identify the factors of successful market entry strategy and draw helpful ideas by analyzing case of NHNgames which succeeded to enter the market of MMORPG through the basic strategic framework of Kalyanaram and Gurumurthy. This discussion will provide several implications for the solution of online game market penetration problem which might be never ended and for the way of industry's development.

The Effects of Personality and Attitude on Risky Driving Behavior Among Public van Drivers: Hierarchical Modeling

  • Background: Traffic injuries have become a significant public health problem in low- and middle-income countries. Several studies have examined the role of personality and attitude toward traffic safety in predicting driving behaviors in diverse types of drivers. Few studies have investigated risky behavior among public passenger van drivers. This study aims to identify the predictors of self-reported risky driving behavior among public van drivers. Method: A total of 410 public van drivers were interviewed at terminal stations in Bangkok. Hierarchical regression models were applied to determine the effects of demographics, personality traits, and attitude on self-reported risky driving behaviors. Results: The results indicated that drivers with a high education level, more working days, and high scores for normlessness and anger were more likely to report risky driving behaviors (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The personality traits and attitude toward speeding account for aberrant self-reported risky driving behavior in passenger van drivers. This could be another empirical basis for evidence-based road safety interventions in the context of public transport.

  • Rights process problem was stated among actors that participated in digital contents distribution while it was various type of digital content service. In order to solve it, It was expressed conceptual and technical elements by reflecting a system. Among them, the interoperability of metadata became a important issue. As for the metadata for contents service, necessity about standardization is stated as a basic framework composing a service system. This paper proposed the metadata element which focus on the rights process that is being a key factor of a DRM(Digital Right Management) system for digital comics contents service. Therefore, it was verified by using Context Model of MPEG-21 RDD with interoperability between metadata elements which developed a XML format and the existing MPEG-21 RDD elements.   • Restenosis after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) continues to be a serious problem in clinical cardiology. To solve this problem, drug eluting stents (DES) with antiproliferative agents have been developed. Variable local drug delivery systems in the context of stenting require the development of stent manufacture, drug pharmacology and coating technology. We have worked on a system that integrates electrophoretic deposition (EPD) technology with the polymeric nanoparticles in DES for local drug delivery and a controlled release system. The surface morphology and drug loading amount of DES by EPD have been investigated under different operational conditions, such as operation time, voltage and the composition of media. We prepared poly-D,L-lactide-co-glycolic acid (PLGA) nanoparticles embedded with curcumin, which was done by a modified spontaneous emulsification method and used polyacrylic acid (PAA) as a surfactant because its carboxylic group contribute negative charge to the surface of CPNPs (?53.5 ± 5.8 mV). In the process of ‘trial and error' endeavors, we found that it is easy to control the drug loading amount deposited onto the stent while keeping uniform surface morphology. Accordingly, stent coating by EPD has a wide application to the modification of DES using various kinds of nanoparticles and drugs.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine levels of claims and evidence produced by 53 secondary science teachers. Levels of claim and evidence produced by the teachers in this study are various depending on themes. For a problem integrated several science concepts, there were many teachers who produced claims and evidence in a level of 1 or 2. The participant teachers presented claims and evidence in a level of 3 or 4 for a problem related to chemistry concepts presented in chemistry textbooks. Professional development programs should be provided for science teachers to help them develop understanding of argument structure and construct high quality of claims and evidence.

  • Human experts have the various own knowledges to be applied in specialized domains. The fact that knowledge itself becomes more critical in the context of textile knowledge with rapid development of new fibers, automated equipments, processes and applications. Diversity of worsted spun yarns, lack of human expertise, and inconsistency among manually generated process plans in consequency of adjustment machine parameters owing to change up raw materials frequently increase the necessity of developing computer aided process planning(CAPP) systems for spinning process. Expert systems offer one of techniques to develop CAPP systems which would behave in a knowledgeable manner. Expert systems are the problem-solving computer program that can reach a level of performance comparable to that of a human expert in some specialized problem domain. This paper is described as job justification module. The job justification module performs to consult with users on which worsted spun yarn manufacturing process planning under the various factors, e.g., raw materials, machine parameters and required yarn counts. Also, the developed module informs the various knowledges relevant process planning. The job justification module offers the control parameters at each process and includes the various standard process plans as database. These knowledges are generated by facts and rules within rule bases.

Direction for the Reform of Liberal Education in Engineering in an Era of Convergence (융합시대 공학교양 교육개혁의 방향과 과제)

  • This study deals with how liberal education in engineering could be positioned properly in an era of convergence. Disciplines of Engineering has long been focusing on engineer as a 'technical profession' and the liberal education as an accessory to major study has been left behind. Under this understanding, the topic of 'convergence' in the 21th century engineering is hardly to find its way to the establishment into engineering education. This study suggests a direction for the reform of liberal education in engineering, which is expected to overcome the distinction between professional and non-professional aligned with major education and liberal one. For the reform, introducing and developing contents and methodologies considering convergence would open the door of engineering education to interdisciplinary study and to 'open-profession'. Next, the problem solving model in education will be very effective for learners to define the problem, to utilize various knowledges and to lead to meaningful solution. Lastly, we emphasize the changing context of liberal education and it is necessary to integrate 'technology literacy' into liberal education in relation to major study.

  • In the context of accelerating the establishment of specialized libraries, this study aims to reestablish the entire system of specialized libraries scattered by Gimpo City as the Gimpo City Library has been in operation for 20 years. It aims to establish a specialized vision and strategy. In this study, the operational problems of the Gimpo library were discussed from three perspectives. First, there is a problem in selecting a special theme. Next is the problem of using specialized materials. Lastly, it is a matter of not operating the actual specialized program. Based on this analysis, three directions for the development of specialized topics were proposed. First, the selection of specialized topics based on local content and user needs. Second, it is necessary to prepare a plan to activate specialized services. Third, local specialty networks should be strengthened.

The Present Status and Vision of the Research on Daesoon Thought (대순사상 연구의 현황과 전망)

  • The doctrinal ideas within Daesoon thought are based on the faith of Daesoonjinrihoe (The Fellowship of the Truth of the Great Itineration), which is grounded upon the Jeongyung, the official scripture of the religious order. Today the religious order is faced with the problem of how to develop and deepen the study of Daesoon doctrine. If this project is carried out successfully, a theory would be presented that would provide not only a firm foundation for their religious work, but also systematic research of Daesoon doctrine necessary for greater understanding by people of other cultures and religions. The field of Daesoon studies has emerged along with the development of the Daesoon religious order, as research was initially carried out by the Institute at the Daesoon headquarters. More recent research has been undertaken by Daejin University and The Inter-Academic Society in Korea. What is needed now is to evaluate the findings of the research, which will be instrumental in focusing the vision of the religious order within the context of Daesoon thought.

Sliced Profile-based Automatic Extraction of Machined Features from CSG Models (단면 재구성을 통한 CSG 모델의 기계가공부품 형상추출)

  • This paper describe the development of a systematic method of slicing solid parts based on a data structure called Sliced Profile Data Structure(SPDS). SPDS is an augmented polygon data structure that allows multiple layers of sliced profiles to be connected together. The method consists of five steps: (1) Selection of slicing directions, (2) Determination of slicing levels, (3) Creation of sliced profiles, (4) Connection of sliced profiles, and (5) Refinement. The presented method is aimed at enhancing the applicability of CSG for manufacturing by overcoming the problem of non-uniqueness and global nature. The SPDS-based method of feature extraction is suitable for recognizing broad scope of features with detailed information. The method is also suitable for identifying the global relationships among features and is capable of incorporating the context dependency of feature extraction.
