  • This paper describes the automation of the surface grinder for a grinding wheel by application of programmable logic controller(PLC) with a position sensor, and a limit switch. The control system is designed to provide feeding a workpiece on the turn table and pressing it by the upper disk automatically. In this development the automation of checking the thickness of a grinding wheel is most important. In order to measure the relative displacement, the proximity sensors were employed and the sensitivities of the sensors were investicated and discussed the superiority. It has been shown by model experiment that the automation system of the surface grinder is performed satisfactory.

  • This paper introduces a supplementary module reducing tile standby-power of Power Line Communication(PLC) modem, one of the network equipments that take up much of tile stand-by power. This supplementary module consists of three parts, such as a compare part, a control part, and a switch part. This supplementary module controls the power going from the power supply element into PLC modem, which brings about the effect of standby-power reduction. It is assured that over 30% standby-power reduction is estimated when we applied this module to a low-speedy PLC control modem.

  • To remove the logical error inexpensively, in this paper, we propose new concept of VPLF(Virtual PLC Framework) which consists of VPLE(Virtual PLC Editor), Virtual Machine(Virtual Machine), VMC(Virtual Machine Control panel), Virtual PLC Program Editor(VPLPE) and Object Inspector. VPLC is for PLC hardware and software and VM is for the target to be controlled. VPLC has an individual editor and the screen of configuration. With using individual editor in VPLC, we can edit and compile to PLC ladder program. In VM, there are many kinds of object for machine elements, actuator, sensor and so on.   • 전력선을 이용한 PLC기술은 경제성과 접근의 용이함으로 현재 많은 각광을 받고 있는 첨단기술이다. 최근 국내외 PLC 핵심기술을 활용한 부가서비스가 개발되고 시장규모가 커짐에 따라 PLC 네트워크 기술의 중요성이 커지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 PLC 핵심기술을 이용해 방범, 가스제어, 조명제어, 가전기기 제어, 도어락 제어, 영상감시, 휴대폰 영상통보 등 기능을 갖춘 PLC 기반 통합관리 네트워크를 제안하고자 한다.

  • 최근 PLC들은 산업 자동화 분야에 필요한 자동화장비에서 널리 사용되고 있다. HMI는 다수의 PLC들을 효과적으로 제어하기 위해서 필수적인 시스템이다. 초기 HMI시스템은 단순한 아날로그 계기들을 사용하여 구성되었으나 반도체 및 디스플레이 기술의 발달로 최근에는 각종 디지털 부품들로 구성된 임베디드 시스템으로 구성되어 디스플레이 화면을 통해서 PLC를 제어 또는 감시할 수 있게 되었다. HMI시스템은 이러한 HMf 장치와 HMI 장치를 구동시키기 위한 프로그램 그리고 HMI 화면을 편집 하는 프로그램 세 가지 구성요소로 이루어져 있으며 화면편집 프로그램은 실제 HMI 장치에서 표현되는 각각의 화면들을 사용자가 편집할 수 있도록 다양한 화면 구성요소들을 제공해야 한다. 본 논문에서는 소형 HMI 장치용 화면편집 프로그램을 객체지향 언어를 통해 설계 및 구현하며, 임베디드 HMI 시스템의 프로토타입을 제안한다.

  • A wire communication module for PLC controller was developed. This system consists of RF module interface part, RS232 serial communication control part, LED display part and control S/W with GUI interface. RF communication frequency is controlled by PLL controlling and communication rate is also controlled as 1200 and 4800 bps. Communication and control status are displayed on LED. As a S/W part, graphic user interface on Window 95 O.S. was developed. To show the validity of the developed system, severial communication and control of PLC system were experemented.

  • In this paper, we proposed the program module that expand output points when increased of the output machine for the design of process control system with PLC. In order to incense output points we need the decoding. There is a hardware decoding and a software decoding. In this paper, we proposed the decoding program module which is a software decoding and confirmed feasibility through a simulation.

Two-Way Hybrid Power-Line and Wireless Amplify-and-Forward Relay Communication Systems

  • Power-line communication (PLC) has influenced smart grid development. In addition, PLC has also been instrumental in current research on internet-of-things (IoT). Due to the implementation of PLC in smart grid and IoT environments, strides have been made in PLC and its combination with the wireless system to form a hybrid communication system. Also, PLC has evolved from a single-input-single-output (SISO) configuration to multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) configuration system, and from a point-to-point communication system to cooperative communication systems. In this work, we extend a MIMO wireless two-way amplify-and-forward (AF) cooperative communication system to a hybrid PLC and wireless (PLC/W) system configuration. We then maximize the weighted sum-rate for the hybrid PLC/W by optimizing the precoders at each node within the hybrid PLC/W system. The sum-rate problem was found to be non-convex, therefore, an iterative algorithm is used to find the optimal precoders that locally maximize the system sum-rate. For our simulation results, we compare our proposed hybrid PLC/W configuration to a PLC only and wireless only configuration at each node. Due to an improvement in system diversity, the hybrid PLC/W configuration outperformed the PLC only and wireless only system configurations in all simulation results presented in this paper.

  • In this paper, a small PLC system is designed and developed for the distributed building control and fire control system. It uses 8031, a 8-bit micro controller from Intel Inc. The size of the PLC is $7cm{\times}8cm$ and the PLC can accept 4 sensor inputs and drive 4 relay outputs, which operates at 24V. Multiple access of PLC by one host computer is implemented by assigning a unique 10 to each PLC, which ranges from 0 to 126. The operation starts by sending a command packet from host computer to a PLC and the PLC of the same 10 fetches the command packet by comparing the first byte of the command packet with its own 10. The PLC is programmed to perform a various functions and the function is selected by the content of the command byte, which is the second byte of the command packet. The third byte, which is the last byte, is a checksum byte. The checksum byte is the sum of the first byte and the second byte and is used to detect the communication error. Depending on the content of the command byte, PLC performs the desired function and returns the response packet back to the host computer. The response packet is also a three-byte packet, 10 byte, response byte and checksum byte. For the independent operation of PLC without being controlled by the host computer, variable length RULE data packet is sent to PLC. In case the communication line is broken, the PLC perform the independent operation by referencing the RULE data. The applicable areas are; building automation system, distributed factory automation, measurement of temperature of toxic or dangerous area.

공정의 안전 검증을 위한 PLC 모듈 개발 (Development of PLC modules for the safety verification of chemical processes)

  • An automatic verification method has been studied to determine the safety and operability of programmable logic controller (PLC) based systems. For the systematic and efficient verification, we have developed a conversion method from relay ladder logic (RLL) to the verification system description. RLL is a common representation used to document PLC programs for the sequential logic of the system such as the safety interlocks and the startup/shutdown procedures. Once the modules are developed, complex RLLs can be represented by the combination of modules. As a result we can verify complex PLC systems using the verification method including RLL modules. The developed modules are used to verify alarm systems and show that the method is valid.
