  • The purpose of multipurpose reservoir operation in flood season is to reduce the peak flood at a control point by utilizing flood control storage or to minimize flood damage by controlling release and release time. Therefore, the most important thing in reservoir operation for flood season is to determine the optimal release and release time. In this study, goal programming is used for the optimal reservoir operation in flood season. The goal programming minimizes a sum of deviation from the target value using linear programming or nonlinear programming to obtain the optimal alternative for the problem with more than two objectives. To analyze the applicability of goal programming, the historical storm data are utilized. The goal programming is applied to the reservoir system operation as well as single reservoir operation. Chungju reservoir is selected for single reservoir operation and Andong and Imha reservoirs are selected for reservoir system operation. The result of goal programming is compared with that of HEC-5. As a result, it was found that goal programming could maintain the reservoir level within flood control level at the end of a flood season and also maintain flood discharge within a design flood at a control point for each time step. The goal programming operation is different from the real operation in the sense that all inflows are assumed to be given in advance. However, flood at a control point can be reduced by calculating the optimal release and optimal release time using suitable constraints and flood forecasting system.

  • This study reviewed the research in China on music interventions for adult brain injury patients. Eighty-three studies that met the inclusion criteria were included for analysis. Our review revealed that the number of intervention studies using music with adult brain injury patients has been on the rise since 2012, and random control research design methods have been dominant. Studies focused on the physical domain and emotional domain together were most common. Researchers in fields outside of music therapy conducted 43 of the studies, and music therapists carried out 14 of the studies as intervention providers. Most of the studies carried out by experts in fields other than music therapy used listening activities involving preexisting recorded music. However, most of the studies conducted by music therapists adopted reconstructed music and played it live during their intervention. The specificity of the described content of the interventions and level and relevance of stated rationale to the target goal of the intervention suggests that high quality of intervention was conducted with a therapist/investigator who has completed adequate professional education/training, which would emphasize the importance of music therapy professionalism. This study provides the baseline data for how music intervention research has been implemented in China and presents implications for future clinical practice and research.

  • This paper describes a design method using an optimization technique to satisfy the longitudinal handling quality of high maneuverable jet aircraft. The dynamic inversion technique was applied to the target aircraft, and the control gain optimization satisfied the longitudinal short-period handling quality, however, the stability margin was not considered. If the stability margin is not satisfied, it is necessary to directly readjust the gains through trial and error methods for improvement. To improve this, an additional compensator and an optimization constraint were added to the control gain optimization procedure. In addition, the degree of handling quality satisfaction with the optimization result was reevaluated, and additional control evaluation criteria for the convergence of the time response and the steady state error that the flight performance requirement set as the optimization constraint cannot be reflected, and the results are described.

  • Trends in the developing era to discover and design peptide-based treatments throughout an epidemic infection scenario such as COVID-19 could progress into a more efficient and low-cost therapeutic environment. However, the weakening of proteolysis is one downside of natural peptide drugs. But, peptidomimetics may help resolve this issue. In this review, peptide and peptide-based drug discovery were summarized to target one key entry mechanism of severe coronavirus pulmonary emboli syndrome (SARS-CoV-2), which encompasses the association of the host angiotensin-converting enzyme-2 (ACE2) receptor and viral spike (S) protein. Furthermore, the benefits of proteins, peptides and other possible actions that have been studied for COVID-19 through new peptide-based treatments are discussed in the review. Lastly, an overview of the peptide-based drug therapy environment is comprised of an evolutionary viewpoint, structural properties, operational thresholds, and an explanation of the therapeutic area.

  • Because of the recent expansion of hydrogen vehicle supply, the installation of hydrogen filling station is expected to gradually expand. This study attempts to predict the damage scale and propose a safer design form based on the scenario that assumes the worst case of a hydrogen station. A Flacs solver using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) was used to predict the damage scale, and the accuracy was verified by comparing it with the experimental results of previous researchers. The damage scale prediction was conducted for hydrogen leakage and explosion, and the prediction target was the KR model based on the measured values. And as a comparative review model, a roofless model was selected without a ceiling. As a result of analyzing the two models, it was possible to confirm the accumulation and retention of hydrogen gas up to 60 vol% or more in the KR model, whereas in the case of the Roofless model, the phenomenon of discharge and diffusion to the outside of the charging station by riding the wall after leakage. I was able to check. In conclusion, it was reviewed that the type of hydrogen charging station without ceiling is more advantageous for safety than the hydrogen filling station model.

  • According to the 「Guidelines of Structural Design for Piloti Building」 of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (2018), the natural period of middle and low rise building of upper-walled lower frame type, such as the domestic multiplex house in piloti style, is suggested for safety to apply the existing code formula of the wall structure. However, the current code formula of the wall structure was provided based on actual measurement of high-rise wall-type structures that mainly exhibit bending behavior. So it is considered that it is not suitable for a piloti-type house with four stories or less, where the wall behaves in shear. See also Park et al. (2000) confirmed that the effect of the lower frame part is greater than that of the upper wall part in the natural period of complex structures with 10 or more floors through analytical studies. Therefore, in this study, in order to examine the effect of the lower frame on the natural period of the middle and low-rise piloti structure, the estimation of natural period by the finite element analysis, approximation formula and ccurrent code formula was performed for the target structures with the shear and flexural stiffness of the upper wall and the shear stiffness of the lower frame as variables. As result, it was found that the change in the shear stiffness of the lower frame had a greater effect on the natural period of the whole building than the change in the bending or shear stiffness of the upper wall.

  • This study was conducted to design and fabricate a heat pump that can produce some weather conditions similar to those of the dry season of the rough rice in Korea, and to investigate basic performances of the apparatus. During the drying test, the amount of energy consumption and drying characteristics were measured at four different temperature levels ranging between 20$^{\circ}C$ and 50${^{\circ}C}$. In the psychrometric chart, the freezing capacity and refrigerant circulation ratio of the heat pump were 173 kJ/kg and 49.6 kg/hr, respectively. Therefore, coefficient of performance was 5.5, which was superior to that of refrigerant R-22 (4.0) in standard refrigeration cycle. In addition, the time to reach target drying temperature (30${^{\circ}C}$) and relative humidity (40%) were 6 minutes and 7 minutes, respectively. Temperature differences between the drying temperature and the rice were 1.5${^{\circ}C}$ and 8.5${^{\circ}C}$ at the drying temperatures of 21.9${^{\circ}C}$ and 48.7${^{\circ}C}$, respectively. This result demonstrated that the increased temperature of the rice in the drying section decreased sufficiently in the tempering section. At the drying temperatures of 21.9, 30.7 38.8, and 48.7${^{\circ}C}$, drying rates were 0.29, 0.61, 0.85, and 1.26%/hr, respectively, which were similar to those of commercial dryer. In addition, the amounts of energy consumption were 325, 667, 692, and 776 kJ/kg, respectively. These results showed that this dryer saved up to 86% of energy consumption compared with the commercial dryer, which uses 4,000-5,000 kJ/kg of fossil fuel.

  • This study confirmed the applicability to the field of geotechnical engineering for relatively complicated space and many target design variables in back analysis. The Sharan's equation and the Blum's method were used for the tunnel field and the retaining wall as a model for the multi-variate problem of geotechnical engineering. Optimization methods are generally divided into a deterministic method and a stochastic method. In this study, Simulated Annealing Method (SA) was selected as a deterministic method and Differential Evolution Algorithm (DEA) and Particle Swarm Optimization Method (PSO) were selected as stochastic methods. The three selected optimization methods were compared by applying a multi-variate model. The problem of deterministic method has been confirmed in the multi-variate back analysis of geotechnical engineering, and the superiority of DEA can be confirmed. DEA showed an average error rate of 3.12% for Sharan's solution and 2.23% for Blum's problem. The iteration number of DEA was confirmed to be smaller than the other two optimization methods. SA was confirmed to be 117.39~167.13 times higher than DEA and PSO was confirmed to be 2.43~6.91 times higher than DEA. Applying a DEA to the multi-variate back analysis of geotechnical problems can be expected to improve computational speed and accuracy.

  • This paper presents the development of compact and lightweight broadband power amplifier module using HMIC (Hybrid Microwave Integrated Circuit) technology that could be high-density integration for many non-packaged microwave components into the small area of a high dielectric constant printed circuit board, such as a ceramic substrate, also using the special design and fabrication schemes for the structure of minimized electromagnetic interference to obtain the homogeneous electrical performance at the wideband frequency. The results confirmed that the small signal gain has a gain flatness of ${\pm}1.5dB$ within the range of 32 to 36 dB. In addition, the output power satisfied more than 30 dBm. The noise figure was measured within 7 dB, and OIP3 (Output Third Order Intercept Point) was more than 39 dBm. The fabricated broadband power amplifier satisfied the target specification required to electrically drive the high power amplifiers of jamming generators for electronic warfare, so the actual applicability to the system was verified. Future studies will be aimed at designing other similar microwave power amplifiers in the future.
