Vibrations are generally recognized as the biggest concern in maintaining part' longevity of an All-in-one PC. The vibrations in PCs originate from excitation sources such as the HDD and the cooling fan. In this study, the vibrations from these sources were investigated in order to analyze the individual effects of the parameters on the structural vibrations of the PC; further, we attempted to establish design alterations that could successfully suppress vibrations, in order to achieve improved stability and part' longevity. The results show that relatively simple design alterations can substantially improve the stability of PCs.

Structural vibrations are among the biggest concerns in developing high resolution DVR(Digital Video Recorder) monitors. The vibrations in DVR monitors are mostly originated from the excitation sources such as the HDD and the cooling fan. In this study, the vibrations generated from the excitation sources were investigated in order to analyze the individual effect on the structural vibrations of the monitors and further to establish the design alteration to suppress the vibrations for the stability of the structure and for the better quality of the screen. The result shows that relatively simple design alterations can improve the stability of the structure substantially.

The objectives of this study are (1) to classify fashion consumers based on innovativeness and nostalgia and (2) to explore the differences in product purchase criteria, fashion information sources, and attitudes toward eco-friendly and fast fashion products among the identified groups of consumers. A total of 327 respondents were clustered into four distinct groups: (1) high innovativeness and low nostalgia, (2) high innovativeness and high nostalgia, (3) low innovativeness and high nostalgia, and (4) low innovativeness and low nostalgia. The four groups showed significant differences in the purchase criteria of quality, design, and brands and no difference in the criteria of functionality and washing methods. The four groups preferred different sources of fashion information: fashion magazines, people in the street, and salespeople, but did not differ in terms of social networking services (SNS) and in-store displays. While the four groups had significantly different attitudes toward eco-friendly fashion products, they did not show differences in attitudes toward fast fashion products, excluding usefulness. These meaningful results provide guidelines for developing more effective merchandising strategies for both eco-friendly and fast fashion products.

The study investigated computer literacy skills as a determinant of electronic reference sources utilization among selected secondary school students in Ado-Odo Ota Local Government, Ogun State, Nigeria. Four specific objectives with conforming research questions guided the study. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study comprises of SSS3 students of the three selected Community Secondary Schools in Ado Odo Ota. A sample size of 150 was used for the study. The instrument for data collection was a self-developed structured questionnaire. Data collected was analyzed using frequency and percentages. Findings of the study revealed that majority of secondary school students were not aware of the availability of electronic reference sources. It also revealed that the level of their computer literacy skills was below average. Majority of them have never used computer before and the few of them that have used computer before used it in their homes, their friend's homes or in the cyber café. It was found that lack of formal training on the use of electronic reference sources, lack of access to computer, lack of awareness of availability of electronic reference sources, lack of funds for internet subscriptions, over dependency on printed reference sources and lack of motivation to use electronic reference sources were the major hindrances to the use of electronic reference sources among secondary school students. It was recommended that the school librarians and teachers should play a role in creating awareness among secondary school students about the availability of online/ electronic reference sources among others.
Direction of arrival (DOA) estimation of multiple sources using sensor arrays has been widely studied in the last few decades, particularly, the spherical harmonic analysis utilizing a spherical array. Both the number of sensors on the aperture and size of the sphere can affect the estimation accuracy dramatically. However, those two factors are conflicted to each other in a single spherical array. In this paper, a multiple spherical arrays structure is proposed to provide an alternative design to the traditional single spherical array for the spherical harmonic decomposition, to obtain better localization performance. The new structure consists of several identical spheres in a given area, and the microphones are placed identically on each sphere. The spherical harmonic analysis algorithm using the new multiple array structure for the problem of multiple acoustic sources localization is presented. Simulation results show that the multiple spherical arrays can provide a more accurate direction of arrival (DOA) estimation for the multiple sources than that of a single spherical array, distinguish several adjacent sources more efficiently, and reduce the number of microphones on each sphere without decreasing its’ estimation accuracy.

Recently, with the development of the aerospace and automotive industries, the demand for high-melting-point materials has increased. However, high-melting-point materials are difficult to cut through conventional machining methods. Thermally assisted machining (TAM) is a method for improving the machinability by preheating the materials. A laser, the most commonly used device for TAM, has high efficiency through local preheating but is not sufficient for maintaining a high preheating temperature due to rapid cooling. However, the use of multi-heat sources can supplement the disadvantage of a single heat source. The high preheating temperature can be maintained with a wide and deep heat-affected zone (HAZ) by multi-heat sources. The purpose of this study is to analyze the preheating effects of multi-heat sources using laser plasma. Thermal analysis and preheating experiments were carried out. As a result, the high preheating effect of multi-heat sources compared with a single heat source was verified.
Increasing concerns of environment need to make change furniture field to more environmentally friendly approach, such as reuse of by-products from wooden products. As it is, the methods of recycling wood for industrial purposes have the advantage of productivity and adaptability. However, the industrial way is required a certain production facility of processing wooden by-products and has possible hygienic problems due to contaminated sources. Many designers have developed their own methods for reuse of wood in unique and artistic ways. Even so, because of confined sources, it could be not enough supply. Therefore, I developed the design methodology utilizing wooden by-products from S Design Company to relieve former ways' problems. The design suggestion took materials from a safe and abundant source. The wooden leftover pieces were connected together with epoxy clay, so previous process traces of furniture are remained as a decorative factor. Moreover, the synthesized material was able to be processed by ordinary woodworking facilities without additional installations. In doing so, console table focused on a commercial purpose and dining table for an artistic objective were successfully fabricated as final suggestions. In consideration of the proposal using wooden furniture leftovers, diverse recycling designs should be investigated for future reference.
This paper presents an optimization of the reinforced concrete ribbed slab in terms of minimum CO2 emissions and an economic justification of the final optimal design. The design variables are six geometry variables including the slab thickness, the ribs spacing, the rib width at the lower and toper end, the depth of the rib and the bar diameter of the reinforcement, and the seventh variable defines the concrete strength. The objective function is considered to be the minimum amount of carbon dioxide gas (CO2) emission and at the same time, the optimal design is economical. Seven significant design constraints of American Concrete Institute's Standard were considered. A robust metaheuristic optimization method called improved dolphin echolocation and ant colony optimization (IDEACO) has been used to obtain the best possible answer. At optimal design, the three most important sources of CO2 emissions include concrete, steel reinforcement, and formwork that the contribution of them are 63.72, 32.17, and 4.11 percent respectively. Formwork, concrete, steel reinforcement, and CO2 are the four most important sources of cost with contributions of 67.56, 19.49, 12.44, and 0.51 percent respectively. Results obtained by IDEACO show that cost and CO2 emissions are closely related, so the presented method is a practical solution that was able to reduce the cost and CO2 emissions simultaneously.
The volume of the party wear market is gradually growing in the Korean fashion market. The study attempted to examine psychological clothing benefits as the criteria for market segmentation, and identify differences in information sources. and clothing evaluative criteria in each segmentated market. The summary of the key findings are as follows. Three segments were identified by psychological clothing benefits: pleasurably self-expressing group, fashion-seeking group, and indifferent group. The differences in search information sources between the classified groups were identified The fashion-seeking group had a higher mean score on mass media. The pleasurably self-expressing group had higher scores on advice from friends, colleagues, or companions. The differences in evaluative criteria between the classified groups were also identified. Among the evaluative criteria, the splendid boldness and polished silhouette criteria showed a marginal difference between each group. This study can contribute as a cornerstone for future studies on party wear and market strategies.

Peninsular Malaysia lying on the stable Sunda Plate has traditionally been considered safe with low to moderate seismicity. However, far field Sumatran mega-earthquakes have been shown to be capable of triggering ground motions felt in high rise structures in the major Malaysian cities while seismic impact from local earthquakes of moment magnitude 3.8 have reportedly induced nominal structural damages to nearby buildings. This paper presents an overview of the recent seismic activities in and around Peninsular Malaysia with reference to prominent earthquakes generated by far field interplate and local intraplate sources. Records of ground motion data and seismic hazard assessment (SHA) results available in the literature have been analyzed and discussed. The peak ground acceleration (PGA) values from historical records for few local intraplate events were observed to be higher than those for the events from Sumatran Subduction Zone. This clearly points to the need for a detailed and comprehensive SHA incorporating both far field and local sources. Such an analysis would contribute the knowledge required for secure and reliable infrastructure design and safeguard the Malaysian people and economy.
