  • Noodle was made using a combination of yulmu, wheat and water through mixture design. Statistical models of yulmu noodle were shown by analysing tensile stress and color $(L^{*})$, and sensory evaluation with other constraints. Analysing the linear and non-linear model, the linearity in the values of tensile stress, lightness $(L^{*})$ and sensory evaluation showed that each component worked separately without interactions. In studying the component effect on the response by trace plot, the result indicated that the increase in the amount of yulmu enhanced tensile stress of noodle while degrading $L^{*}$ value and sensory evaluation score. In the range of satisfying the conditions of noodle in every tensile stress, $L^{*}$ value and sensory evaluation point, the optimum mixture ratio of yulmu : wheat : water was 2.27% : 66.28% : 28.45% based on least cost linear programming. In this calculation, the least cost was 9.924 and estimated potential results of the response for tensile stress was 2.234 N and those for $L^{*}$ was 82.39. Finally, the potential response results affected by mixture ratio of yulmu, wheat and water were screened using Excel.

  • The actual condition of farmstead, mainly livestock facility, was surveyed in ChungChongBukDo in order to find out factors and problems of farmstead planning design. From the data collected, a type, plot, size and scope of farmstead, relationship of house and farmstead, topography, climate, proprietor's opinion on them were analyzed or obtained as the basic design criteria for planning: designs. The best type of farmsteads was individual farm having livestock facilities. They were mostly breeding a kind of livestock without their plan and Bone planning at residing area. The south aspect of the facility was extremely much and slope of the land was mostly 15。 below. Wind blows from East-South in summer and winter wind are West-North extremely much. Sun heat was mostly above 6 hours. In the case of collective and composite farmstead, proprietors wanted that a head of cow has 1,000-3,000 pyeong, the area of facility has 1,500-2,000 pyeong, total area of farmstead has 45,000-400,000 pyeong and an estimated expense is 0.2 - 1.5 billion won. Farmstead planning design was proposed through field survey results and contents of'references. Examples of farmstead planning design were composite and concentrated type and existed according to the situation of road(North, South, East, and West).

  • The weather data has important role for performative building design. If the data location is close to building site, the result of performative design can be accurate. The data which have used nowadays in Korea are from U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Korea Solar Energy Society (KSES) but they cover only several locations in Korea which are 4 in DOE and 11 in KSES and there are opinions which it could be served building design efficiently even if the data are not enough. However the weather data for micro-climate are exist which are Green Building Studio Virtual Weather Station (GBS VWS) and Meteonorm weather data. Each weather data has different generation methods which are TMY2, TRY, MM5, and extrapolation. In this research, the weather date for climate are compared with DOE and KSES to check correlation. The result shows the value of correlation in Dry Bulb Temp. and Dew Point Temp. is around 0.9 so they have high correlation in both but in Wind Speed case the correlation(around 0.2) is not exist. In overall result, the data has correlation with DOE and KSES as the value of correlation 0.648 of GBS VW and 0.656 of Meteonorm. Even if the correlation value is not high enough, the patterns of difference in each weather element are similar in scatter plot.

  • Using a quarter car model, an analytic method for performance estimation of a vehicle suspension system with respect to frequency response, RMS response and performance index is presented. From frequency response function, compromization of response performance to the whole frequency range is verified and from RMS response and performance index, sensitivity of ride md handling characteristics are examined. Using a full car model, sweet area(stable ride area) are determined and performance sensitivity is estimated according to the change of feedback gains. In order to esimate the output sensitivity, response we is displayed using a 3-dimensional contour plot. Design data n suggested for optimal design parameter esimation, which maximize the performance of the given suspension system.

  • The materials characteristics and lifetime evaluation are very important in design procedure to assure the safety and reliability of rubber components. This paper discusses the failure mechanism and material test were carried out to predict the useful life of NBR and EPDM rubber mount for compression motor which is used in refrigerator. In order to investigate the heat-aging effects on the materials properties, stress-strain curve were obtained from the results of material tests. Compression set results changes as the threshold are used for assessment of useful life and the time were plotted against reciprocal of absolute temperature to give the Arrhenius plot.

  • The goal is to assess the effect of fatigue loading on mechanical properties of Fiberite 934/T300 laminates of pressure vessel using the recent variational mechanics analysis. This analysis has been useful in providing fracture mechanics interpretation of matrix microcracking in cross-ply laminates. This paper describes using the new energy release rate analysis for a fracture mechanics based interpretation of microcrack formation during fatigue loading. The master plot by modified Paris-law gives a complete characterization of a material system's resistance to microcrack formation.

  • Rubber components are widely used in many application such as vibration isolators, damping, ride quality. Rubber spring is used in primary suspension system for railway vehicle. Characteristics and useful life prediction of rubber spring was very important in design procedure to assure the safety and reliability. Non-linear properties of rubber material which are described as strain energy function are important parameter to design and evaluate of rubber spring. These are determined by physical tests which are uniaxial tension, equi-biaxial tension and pure shear test. The computer simulation was executed to predict and evaluate the load capacity and stiffness for rubber spring. In order to investigate the useful life, the acceleration test were carried out. Acceleration test results changes as the threshold are used for assessment of the useful life and time to threshold value were plotted against reciprocal of absolute temperature to give the Arrhenius plot. By using the acceleration test, several useful life prediction for rubber spring were proposed.

  • This study investigated the effect on children's literacy of teacher-child discussion about the contents of storybooks. The subjects were 10 experimental and 10 control 5-year-old kindergarten children in Cheongju. The experimental design was the Split Plot design. The research instruments used for pre- and post-tests were the Vocabulary Decoding Competence Test(Lee, 1998), Writing Competence Test(Lee & Lee, 1990), Story Comprehension Competence Test(Lee, 1998; Morrow, 1990), and the Emergent Reading Ability Judgements for Favorite Storybooks(Sulzby, 1985). Data were analyzed by ANOVA with repeated measures. Results showed that the teacher-child discussions about the contents of storybooks were effective for improving children's competence in decoding vocabulary, writing, and story comprehension but not for improving emergent reading ability.

  • This paper presents a design of a divide unit supporting IEEE-754 floating point standard single-precision with 32-bit word length. Its functions have been verified with ALTERA MAX PLUS II tool. For a high-speed division operation, the radix-4 non-restoring algorithm has been applied and CLA(carry-look -ahead) adders has been used in order to improve the area efficiency and the speed of performance for the fraction division part. The prevention of the speed decrement of operations due to clocking has been achieved by taking advantage of combinational logic. A quotient select block which is very complicated and significant in the high-radix part was designed by using P-D plot in order to select the fast and accurate quotient. Also, we designed all division steps with Gate-level which visualize the operations and delay time.

  • The vibration of a flexible cantilever tube with nonlinear constraints when it is subjected to flow internally with fluids is examined by experimental and theoretical analysis. These kinds of studies have been performed to find the existence of chaotic motion. In this paper, the important parameters of the system leading to such a chaotic motion such as Young's modulus and the coefficient of viscoelastic damping are discussed. The parameters are investigated by means of system identification so that comparisons are made between numerical analysis using the design parameters and the experimental results. The chaotic region led by several period-doubling bifurcations beyond the Hopf bifurcation is also re-established with phase portraits, bifurcation diagram and Lyapunov exponent so that one can define optimal parameters for system design.
