고감쇠고무와 강재를 이용한 복합제진댐퍼의 구조성능평가 (Evaluation on the Structural Performance of Hybrid Damper Using High-damping Rubber and Steel)

  • The proposed hybrid damper installs at a coupling beam and consists of a high-damping rubber (HDR) and steel pin. The proposed hybrid damper adopted a pin-lock system acts as a viscoelastic damper under wind load (small displacement) while it behaves as a hysteretic damper under earthquake load (large displacement). In this paper, the pin-lock mechanism and structural performance of the proposed hybrid damper is evaluated through experiment. Experiments were carried out with the variables which displacement, loading frequency and steel pin quantities were used. Test results showed that the pin-lock mechanism and the performance of the hybrid damper under a large displacement were verified. Also equivalent damping ratios of HDR were increasing at a small displacement as displacement amplitudes were increasing. However HDR did not depend on frequency.

  • AIS-ASM은 AIS의 고유 기능인 선박의 위치 정보 외에 다양한 해양안전정보를 제공하기 위한 연구 중 하나로, 2004년부터 관련 규정을 정비하여 진행 중이다. 본 연구는 여객선의 출항에서 입항까지 안전항해를 위해 필요한 국내 여객선 항해사의 의무보고 내용을 조사하고 업무 부하를 줄이기 위해 자동화 할 수 있는 부분을 차세대 해상디지털통신 기술인 ASM2.0을 활용하여 자동화 하는데 목적이 있으며, 국내 여객선 운항 관련 법규를 조사하여 상호 교환해야하는 정보를 도출하고 국제적으로 사용하고 있는 AIS-ASM 메시지 분석을 통해 ASM2.0에서 활용하기 위한 프로토콜을 설계하고 프로토타입을 구현하였다.

Hardware Approach to Fuzzy Inference―ASIC and RISC―

  • This talk presents the overview of the author's research and development activities on fuzzy inference hardware. We involved it with two distinct approaches. The first approach is to use application specific integrated circuits (ASIC) technology. The fuzzy inference method is directly implemented in silicon. The second approach, which is in its preliminary stage, is to use more conventional microprocessor architecture. Here, we use a quantitative technique used by designer of reduced instruction set computer (RISC) to modify an architecture of a microprocessor. In the ASIC approach, we implemented the most widely used fuzzy inference mechanism directly on silicon. The mechanism is beaded on a max-min compositional rule of inference, and Mandami's method of fuzzy implication. The two VLSI fuzzy inference chips are designed, fabricated, and fully tested. Both used a full-custom CMOS technology. The second and more claborate chip was designed at the University of North Carolina(U C) in cooperation with MCNC. Both VLSI chips had muliple datapaths for rule digital fuzzy inference chips had multiple datapaths for rule evaluation, and they executed multiple fuzzy if-then rules in parallel. The AT & T chip is the first digital fuzzy inference chip in the world. It ran with a 20 MHz clock cycle and achieved an approximately 80.000 Fuzzy Logical inferences Per Second (FLIPS). It stored and executed 16 fuzzy if-then rules. Since it was designed as a proof of concept prototype chip, it had minimal amount of peripheral logic for system integration. UNC/MCNC chip consists of 688,131 transistors of which 476,160 are used for RAM memory. It ran with a 10 MHz clock cycle. The chip has a 3-staged pipeline and initiates a computation of new inference every 64 cycle. This chip achieved an approximately 160,000 FLIPS. The new architecture have the following important improvements from the AT & T chip: Programmable rule set memory (RAM). On-chip fuzzification operation by a table lookup method. On-chip defuzzification operation by a centroid method. Reconfigurable architecture for processing two rule formats. RAM/datapath redundancy for higher yield It can store and execute 51 if-then rule of the following format: IF A and B and C and D Then Do E, and Then Do F. With this format, the chip takes four inputs and produces two outputs. By software reconfiguration, it can store and execute 102 if-then rules of the following simpler format using the same datapath: IF A and B Then Do E. With this format the chip takes two inputs and produces one outputs. We have built two VME-bus board systems based on this chip for Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The board is now installed in a robot at ORNL. Researchers uses this board for experiment in autonomous robot navigation. The Fuzzy Logic system board places the Fuzzy chip into a VMEbus environment. High level C language functions hide the operational details of the board from the applications programme . The programmer treats rule memories and fuzzification function memories as local structures passed as parameters to the C functions. ASIC fuzzy inference hardware is extremely fast, but they are limited in generality. Many aspects of the design are limited or fixed. We have proposed to designing a are limited or fixed. We have proposed to designing a fuzzy information processor as an application specific processor using a quantitative approach. The quantitative approach was developed by RISC designers. In effect, we are interested in evaluating the effectiveness of a specialized RISC processor for fuzzy information processing. As the first step, we measured the possible speed-up of a fuzzy inference program based on if-then rules by an introduction of specialized instructions, i.e., min and max instructions. The minimum and maximum operations are heavily used in fuzzy logic applications as fuzzy intersection and union. We performed measurements using a MIPS R3000 as a base micropro essor. The initial result is encouraging. We can achieve as high as a 2.5 increase in inference speed if the R3000 had min and max instructions. Also, they are useful for speeding up other fuzzy operations such as bounded product and bounded sum. The embedded processor's main task is to control some device or process. It usually runs a single or a embedded processer to create an embedded processor for fuzzy control is very effective. Table I shows the measured speed of the inference by a MIPS R3000 microprocessor, a fictitious MIPS R3000 microprocessor with min and max instructions, and a UNC/MCNC ASIC fuzzy inference chip. The software that used on microprocessors is a simulator of the ASIC chip. The first row is the computation time in seconds of 6000 inferences using 51 rules where each fuzzy set is represented by an array of 64 elements. The second row is the time required to perform a single inference. The last row is the fuzzy logical inferences per second (FLIPS) measured for ach device. There is a large gap in run time between the ASIC and software approaches even if we resort to a specialized fuzzy microprocessor. As for design time and cost, these two approaches represent two extremes. An ASIC approach is extremely expensive. It is, therefore, an important research topic to design a specialized computing architecture for fuzzy applications that falls between these two extremes both in run time and design time/cost.   • 인터넷의 보편화로 인해 일반 정보뿐만 아니라 중요 정보의 전송도 인터넷을 통하여 이루어지고 있다. 그렇기 때문에, 비밀리에 중요 데이터의 전송이나 비밀문서 등의 유출도 증가되고 있다. 그러나 그에 따는 보안 방안은 매우 취약한 실정이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 네트워크 기반의 침입탐지시스템 모듈을 사용하여 네트워크를 통한 중요 정보의 유출을 탐지하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 그리고 중요 데이터의 유출과 테러에 대한 비밀문서의 방지 및 검출하기 위한 은닉정보검출방법을 제안하고 설계한다. 이는 기존의 은닉정보검출방법을 분석하고 그 중 스테고데이터에 대한 검출 방법을 이용하여, JPG, WAVE 등의 웹 데이터나 이메일의 첨부 파일에 스테고데이터 검출 방법에 초점을 맞추어 제안하고 설계한다. 또한, 본 논문에서 제안한 스테고데이터 검출 시스템을 실험을 통하여 분석한다.

Applying the Multiple Cue Probability Learning to Consumer Learning

  • In the present study, we apply the multiple cue probability learning (MCPL) paradigm to examine consumer learning from feedback in repeated trials. This paradigm is useful in investigating consumer learning, especially learning the relationships between the overall quality and attributes. With this paradigm, we can analyze what people learn from repeated trials by using the lens model, i.e., whether it is knowledge or consistency. In addition to introducing this paradigm, we aim to demonstrate that knowledge people gain from repeated trials with feedback is robust enough to weaken one of the most often examined contextual effects, the asymmetric dominance effect. The experiment consists of learning session and a choice task and stimuli are sport rafting boats with motor engines. During the learning session, the participants are shown an option with three attributes and are asked to evaluate its overall quality and type in a number between 0 and 100. Then an expert's evaluation, a number between 0 and 100, is provided as feedback. This trial is repeated fifteen times with different sets of attributes, which comprises one learning session. Depending on the conditions, the participants do one (low) or three (high) learning sessions or do not go through any learning session (no learning). After learning session, the participants then are provided with either a core or an extended choice set to make a choice to examine if learning from feedback would weaken the asymmetric dominance effect. The experiment uses a between-subjects experimental design (2 × 3; core set vs. extended set; no vs. low vs. high learning). The results show that the participants evaluate the overall qualities more accurately with learning. They learn the true trade-off rule between attributes (increase in knowledge) and become more consistent in their evaluations. Regarding the choice task, there is a significant decrease in the percentage of choosing the target option in the extended sets with learning, which clearly demonstrates that learning decreases the magnitude of the asymmetric dominance effect. However, these results are significant only when no learning condition is compared either to low or high learning condition. There is no significant result between low and high learning conditions, which may be due to fatigue or reflect the characteristics of learning curve. The present study introduces the MCPL paradigm in examining consumer learning and demonstrates that learning from feedback increases both knowledge and consistency and weakens the asymmetric dominance effect. The latter result may suggest that the previous demonstrations of the asymmetric dominance effect are somewhat exaggerated. In a single choice setting, people do not have enough information or experience about the stimuli, which may lead them to depend mostly on the contextual structure among options. In the future, more realistic stimuli and real experts' judgments can be used to increase the external validity of study results. In addition, consumers often learn through repeated choices in real consumer settings. Therefore, what consumers learn from feedback in repeated choices would be an interesting topic to investigate.

일제시대 건설된 해양 콘크리트구조물의 물성 평가(영도대교) (The Property Evaluation of the Marine Concrete Structure Constructed in the Period of Japanese Occupancy (YoungDo Bridge))

  • 영도대교는 부산 최초의 연륙교로서 1934년 준공된 이후, 수차례의 보수보강 공사를 거쳤으며 2011년 이후 현재까지 확장 복원을 위하여 철거공사를 실시하고 있다. 본 조사연구의 목적은 영도대교 건설 당시의 교량 기술 및 재료적 특성 분석 함으로써 근대 구조에 사용된 콘크리트의 당시 재료적 특성을 파악하고 근대 교량문화유산의 보존 및 활용을 위한 기초적 자료를 구축하는 데 있다. 일련의 실험을 통하여 콘크리트 구성재료는 시멘트 : 세골재 : 굵은골재 비율이 부위에 따라 1 : 2 : 4 또는 1 : 3 : 6 인 것으로 밝혀졌고, 압축강도는 50~55MPa, 탄성계수는 25~35GPa의 범위로 나타났다. 역학적 물성의 편차가 10%이하인 점을 미뤄봐서 당시의 품질관리가 비교적 우수했던 것을 알 수 있었다. 중성화 깊이는 높은 상대습도로 상당히 낮은 값을 나타내었고, 염소이온 확산계수는 1.052e-12($m^2/s$)로서 현대 콘크리트와 비교하면 물시멘트비 35%에 상응하는 것으로 밝혀졌다.

Does vitamin blends supplementation affect the animal performance, carcass traits, and nutrient digestibility of young Nellore finishing bulls?

  • Objective: This study was realized to evaluate the effects of supplementation with blends of water and fat-soluble vitamins on animal performance and carcass traits of young Nellore bulls. Methods: Forty-three Nellore bulls, with an initial weight of 261±27.3 kg and a mean age of 8±1.0 months, were used. Five animals were slaughtered at the beginning of the experiment (reference group), to determine the initial empty body weight of the bulls that remained in the experiment. The remaining 38 bulls were fed ad libitum and distributed in a completely randomized design in a 2×2 factorial scheme, with or without supplementation of water-soluble (B-blend+ or B-blend-) and fat-soluble (ADE+ or ADE-) vitamin blends. Diets were isonitrogenous (120 g of crude protein/kg dry matter [DM] of total mixed ration) and consisted of a roughage:concentrate rate of 30:70 based on total DM of diet. The experiment lasted 170 days, with 30 days of adaptation and 140 days for data collection. At the beginning and end of the experimental period, the bulls were weighed to determine the average daily gain. To estimate the apparent digestibility of nutrients and microbial efficiency, spot collections of feces and urine were performed for five consecutive days. Results: DM, ashes, organic matter, crude protein, ethereal extract, neutral detergent fiber corrected for residual ash and residual nitrogenous, and N intake and apparent digestibility were not influenced by vitamin supplementation, but total digestible nutrients intake and non-fibrous carbohydrates digestibility were influenced by B complex vitamin supplementation. Nitrogen balance, microbial efficiency, and performance data were not influenced (p>0.05) by vitamin supplementation. Conclusion: Vitamin supplementation (a blend of water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins or their combinations) does not influence the animal performance and carcass traits of young Nellore bulls.

Dextranase 함유 구강 세정액의 치태 억제 및 치은염 예방 효과에 관한 임상적 연구 (A Clinical Trial of Dextranase-Containing Mouthwash on the Inhibition of Plaque Formation and Gingivitis)

  • A novel glucanhydrolase(DXAMase) from a mutant of Lipomyces starkeyi(KSM 22) has been shown effective in hydrolysis of mutan, reduction of mutan formation by Streptococcus mutans and removal pre-formed sucrose-dependentadherent microbial film and DXAMase has been strongly bound to hydroxyapatitie. These in vitro properties of Lipomyces starkeyi DXAMase are desirable for its application as a dental plaque control agent. This study was performed to determine the adjunctive oral hygiene benefits and safety of dextranase(Lipomyces starkeyi KSM 22 DXAMase)-containing mouthwash when used alongside normal tooth-brushing. This 6-month clinical trial was placebo-controlled double-blind design evaluating 1U/ml dextranase mouthwash and 0.12% chlorhexidine mouthwash. A total 39 systemically healthy subjects, who had moderate levels of plaque and gingivitis were included. At baseline, 1, 3 and 6 months, subjects were scored for plaque accumulation(Turesky modification of Quingley-Hein's plaque index), gingivitis status($L\ddot{o}e$ and Silness gingival index), and tooth stain(Area and severity index system by Lang et al). Additionally, oral mucosal examinations were performed and subjects questioned for adverse symptoms. Two weeks after pre-experiment examinations and a professional prophylaxis, the subjects provided with allocated mousewash and instructed to use 20-ml volumes for 30s twice daily after toothbrushing. All the groups showed significant increase in plaque accumulation since 1 month of experiment. During 6 months' period, the Dextranase mouthwash group showed the least increase in plaque accumulation, compared to the Chlorhexidine mouthwash and placebo groups. As for gingival inflammation, all the groups showed significant increase during 6 months of experiment. The Experimental group(Dextranase mouthwash) also showed the least increase in gingival index score, compared to the Positive control(Chlorhexidine mouthwash)as well as the Negative control(placebo)groups. Whereas the tooth stain was increased significantly in the Positive control group, compared to the baseline score and the Negative controlgroup since 3 months of mouthrinsing. It was significantly increased after 6 months in the Experimental group, still less severe than the Positive control group. As for the oral side effect, the Experimental group showed less tongue accumulation, bad taste, compared to the Positive control group. From these results, mouthrinsing with Lipomyces starkeyi KSM 22 dextranase provided adjunctive benefits to toothbrushing, comparable to 0.12% chlorhexidine mouthwash in inhibition of plaque accumulation and gingival inflammation and local side effects were if anything less frequent and less intense than chlorhexidine, with long-term use of the mouthwash. All data had provided positive evidence for Lipomyces starkeyi KSM 22 dextranase as an antiplaque agent and suggested that further development of dextranase formulations for plaque control are warranted.

  • 바이오정보학(bioinformatic)은 생물학 분야 특히 분자 수준의 유전체 연구에서 발생하는 데이터를 저장, 관리, 분석하여 실험 프로젝트를 지원함은 물론, 기능 예측 및 조절에 대한 실험 설계를 가능하게 하는 제반 컴퓨터 기술을 의미한다. 유전체 연구의 다양한 접근 방식 중 단백체학(proteomics)는 유전체의 최종 산물인 단백질을 직접적으로 다룬다는 측면에서 그 효용성에 대해 많은 기대를 모으고 있다. 본 논문에서는 단백질의 기능을 결정하는 가장 중요한 요소 중 하나인 단백질의 구조를 예측하기 위한 데이터 마이닝 기법을 제안한다. 단백질의 일차 구조인 아미노산 서열에 타나나는 부서열간의 연관성이 해당 단백질의 이차 혹은 삼차 구조를 결정하는 중요한 단서임을 설명하고, 아미노산 부서열간의 연관성을 표현하기 위한 모델로서 서열 연관 규직을 정의한다. 서열 연관 규칙의 유용성을 평가하기 위한 지지도와 신뢰도를 새롭게 정의하고, 주어진 단백질 집단으로부터 유용한 서열 연관 규칙을 발견하기 위한 기법을 제안한다. 아울러, SWISS-PROT 단백질 데이터베이스로부터 입수한 단백질 서열 데이터를 이용하여 제안한 기법의 성능을 평가한다.

페이스북 건강정보 게시물 형식이 시각적 주의와 인지결과에 미치는 영향 (How do Formats of Health Related Facebook Posts Effect on Eye Movements and Cognitive Outcomes?)

  • 소셜미디어 상에서 보다 효과적인 건강정보 전달을 위해 시각정보가 많이 사용되고 있다. 그러나 시각정보가 사용된 소셜미디어상의 건강정보를 이용자들이 어떻게 읽고, 시각정보가 어느 정도 효과적인 정보전달을 하는가에 대한 연구는 미흡한 상황이다. 이에 본 연구는 페이스북 상의 건강정보를 담은 게시물을 사용하여 이용자들의 게시물 시선주시 패턴과 회상 및 인지테스트 결과를 보고하였다. 21명의 대학생들을 대상으로 하여, 온라인 설문지, 시선추적실험, 회상과 인식 테스트를 수행하였다. 그 결과, 첫째, 이용자들은 정보를 포함하고 있는 영역에 주의를 집중하는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 정보를 포함하지 않고 있는 사진보다는 본문의 내용에 이용자들은 먼저 시선집중하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 인포그래픽을 포함한 게시물의 경우 이용자들이 인포그래픽에 주의를 집중하지만, 회상과 인식 테스트 결과는 사진을 포함한 게시물보다 낮게 나타났다. 특히 콜라주 형식의 복잡한 인포그래픽을 포함한 게시물의 회상과 인식 테스트 결과가 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 본문 길이를 살펴보면, 본문의 길이가 짧은 게시물의 회상과 인식테스트 결과가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 의의는 페이스북 건강정보 제공자 및 배포자에게 페이스북 게시물 디자인 시 고려사항에 대해 제안점을 제시한 점을 들 수 있다.
