In this paper, an ultra low voltage SRAM design method based on dual-boosted cell bias technique is described. For each read/write cycle, the wordline and cell power node of the selected SRAM cells are boosted into two different voltage levels. This enhances SNM(Static Noise Margin) to a sufficient amount without an increase of the cell size, even at sub 1-V supply voltage. It also improves the SRAM circuit speed owing to increase of the cell read-out current. The proposed design technique has been demonstrated through 0.8-V, 32K-byte SRAM macro design in a $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. Compared to the conventional cell bias technique, the simulation confirms an 135 % enhancement of the cell SNM and a 31 % faster speed at 0.8-V supply voltage. This prototype chip shows an access time of 23 ns and a power dissipation of $125\;{\mu}W/Hz$.
Purpose This study aims to investigate the factors that influence switching intention of Smart Appliances. We focuses on Push-Pull-Mooring theory and status quo bias as factors related to switching behavior. Design/methodology/approach This study developed an model to explain the switching intention of Smart Appliances and conducted structural equation modeling with AMOS22.0. To test the proposed hypotheses, we collected 319 survey responses from smart appliances's users. Findings The results indicated that low usefulness and low ease of use had an effect on the switching intention of smart appliances. The results also indicated that attractiveness of the alternative and social norms had an effect on the switching intention of smart appliances. Lastly, The difference between the relation of push effect and switching intention and the relation of pull effect and switching intention was found to be due to the level of status quo bias. The academic and managerial implications were discussed based on the results of empirical analysis.
Purpose - This study analyzes the intertemporal patterns in personnel decisions made between a supervisor and a subordinate to understand potential supervisor bias in the decisions. A correlation between the current and the most recent personnel decisions made for a subordinate by a current supervisor captures certain relationship-embedded and time-invariant factors in effect. The characteristics speak to the nature of a supervisor bias arising from a relationship, or favoritism. Design/methodology/approach - This study manually collects the executive profile data from annual reports of key Samsung Group affiliates and compile a longitudinal sample of 3,675 executive-years. It mainly explores the logistic regression analysis. Findings - The study finds that a supervisor' previous promotion award to a subordinate does not improve but decreases the likelihood of promotions in ensuing years, suggesting the containment of favoritism; and that the time since the last promotion award to a subordinate by the current supervisor increases the likelihood of both promotions and dismissals of the subordinate. Research implications or Originality - The findings are generally consistent with the theory suggesting that incentive schemes that align interests between an individual and an organization will contain the form of a supervisor bias.

In this paper, the study of a design, fabrication and measurement of the receiver MMIC LNA, mixer for S-band application is described. The LNA is designed by 2-stage common source. The mixer is composed of active LO and RF balun to integrate on a chip and applied a newly proposed bias circuit to compensate the process variations of active devices. The LNA has 15.51 dB-gain and 1.02dB-Noise Figure at 2.1 GHz. The conversion gain of the mixer is -12 dB, IIP3 is approximately 4.25 dBm and port-to-port isolation is over 25 dB. The newly proposed bias circuit is composed of a few FETs and resistors, and can compensate the variation of the threshold voltage by the process variations, temperature changes and etc. The designed chip size is $1.2[mm]\times1.4[mm]$.

Purpose : The purpose of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the effects of electrical stimulation on patients with non-specific low back pain. Methods : Domestic databases were gathered from studies that conducted clinical trials associated with electrical stimulation and its impact on pain of non-specific low back patients. A total of 681 studies were identified, with 12 studies satisfying the inclusion data. The studies consisted of patient, intervention, comparison, outcome, and study design (PICO-SD). The search outcomes were items associated with low back pain. Cochrane risk of bias 2 (RoB 2) was used to evaluate the quality of 12 randomized controlled trials. Effect sizes (Hedges's g) in this study were computed as the corrected standard mean difference (SMD). A random-effect model was used to analyze the effect size because of the high heterogeneity among the studies. Egger's regression and 'trim-and-fill' tests were carried out to analyze the publication bias. Cumulative meta-analysis and sensitivity analysis were conducted to analyze the effect according to the sample size and the consistency of the effect size. Results : The following factors had a large overall effect size (Hedges's g=1.28, 95 % CI=.20~2.36) involving electrical stimulation on non-specific low back pain. The subgroup analysis all showed a statistical difference in the types of study design, electrical stimulation, and assessment tool. No statistically significant difference was found in the meta-regression analysis. Publican bias was found in the data. Conclusion : The findings in this study indicate that electrical stimulation interventions have a positive effect on patients with non-specific low back pain. However, due to the low quality of studies and publication bias, the results of our study should be interpreted cautiously.

The resistance bias factors for driven steel pipe piles are evaluated as a part of study to develop the LRFD(Load and Resistance Factor Design) for foundation structures in Korea. The 43 data sets of static load tests and soil property tests performed in the whole domestic area were collected and analyzed to determine the representative bearing capacities of the piles using various methods. Based on the statistical analysis of the data, the Davisson's criterion is proved to be the most reasonable method for estimation of pile bearing capacity among the methods used. The static bearing capacity formulas and the Meyerhof method using N values are applied to calculate the design bearing capacity of the piles. The resistance bias factors of the driven steel pipe piles are evaluated respectively as 0.98 and 1.46 by comparison of the bearing capacities for both of the static bearing capacity formulas and the Meyerhof method. It is also shown that uncertainty of the static bearing capacity formulas is relatively less than that of the Meyerhof method.
Objectives : The aim of this study is to analyze the details of acupuncture treatment methods and the reporting quality of acupuncture on Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS). Methods : Search was conducted in Pubmed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library for acupuncture studies on CTS. The reporting quality of acupuncture treatment was assessed using the following guidelines: Standards for Reporting Interventions in Clinical Trials of Acupuncture (STRICTA) for analyzing the method of acupuncture treatment, Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT) for analyzing study design and study process, and Risk of Bias (ROB) for analyzing bias. The number of reported items was calculated and evaluated as a proportion. The reported proportion of each study was classified into three grades: Grade A (% score ≥75), Grade B (50≤ % score <75), and Grade C (% score <50). Results : A total of 9 Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) were included in this study. All trials reported 12 items (66.67%) on average in STRICTA guidelines. Five studies were conducted with manual acupuncture and 3 studies were conducted with electroacupuncture. PC7 (Daereung) was most frequently used to treat CTS. In STRICTA guideline evaluation, 3 studies were classified as Grade A, 5 studies were classified as Grade B, and 1 study was classified as Grade C. In the CONSORT statement assessment, all trials reported an average of 20.56 items. Of the 9 RCTs, 6 studies were classified as Grade B and 3 studies were classified as Grade C. In ROB assessment, most studies showed a low (63.49%) or unclear (26.98%) risk of bias. The selective reporting bias and the incomplete outcome data bias were found to have the lowest risk of bias, and the allocation concealment of selection bias was found to have the most unclear risk of bias. Conclusions : Recent acupuncture studies on CTS showed moderate reporting quality. However, more detailed reports on acupuncture are still needed to establish more solid evidence of acupuncture treatment.

The flexible solid state device has been widely studied as portable and wearable device applications such as display, sensor and curved circuits. A zero-bias operation without any external power consumption is a highly-demanding feature of semiconductor devices, including optical communication, environment monitoring and digital imaging applications. Moreover, the flexibility of device would give the degree of freedom of transparent electronics. Functional and transparent abrupt p/n junction device has been realized by combining of p-type NiO and n-type ZnO metal oxide semiconductors. The use of a plastic polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film substrate spontaneously allows the flexible feature of the devices. The functional design of p-NiO/n-ZnO metal oxide device provides a high rectifying ratio of 189 to ensure the quality junction quality. This all transparent metal oxide device can be operated without external power supply. The flexible p-NiO/n-ZnO device exhibit substantial photodetection performances of quick response time of $68{\mu}s$. We may suggest an efficient design scheme of flexible and functional metal oxide-based transparent electronics.

This paper introduces a new active magnetic bearing(AMB) that can provide both radial and axial control functions in one bearing unit without axial disk. It has a structure of double four-pole AMB or a four-pole AMB where each core is split into two axially. The cores have two kinds of coil winding; they independently generate fluxes on the planes perpendicular or parallel to the shaft. For the radial control action, it works just like a conventional four-pole AMB. Meanwhile, for the axial control, it uses the Lorentz force generated by the interaction of the bias flux for radial control and the axial control flux. In this paper, the proposed structure, principle, and design process based on magnetic flux analysis are introduced, and its feasibility is experimentally verified by using a simple PD control algorithm with a feedforward loop to compensate the coupled flux effect.

We define a broad class of rotation designs whose monthly sample is balanced in interview time, level of recall, and rotation group, and whose rotation scheme is time-invariant. The necessary and sufficient conditions are obtained for such designs. Using these conditions, we derive a minimum variance unbiased generalized composite estimator (MVUGCE). To examine the existence of time-in-sample bias and recall bias, we also propose unbiased estimators and their variances. Numerical examples investigate the impacts of design gap, non-sampling error sources, and two types of correlations on the variance of MVUGCE.
