The distribution submarine cables are normally used for power supply at island, which are mostly installed in the southern coast of KOREA, and partially installed in the west coast and Jeju-Island. There are two way of submarine cable burying system, buried and unburied type. Since 2003, KEPCO is entirely being constructing the distribution submarine cable by buried type. In this case, 'burial depth' is key index for evaluating the suitability of the buried situation. Therefore, the measurement accuracy of 'burial depth' is a big issue for burying system in the distribution submarine cable. This paper demonstrates the measurement error of burial depth that is affected by electrical factor such as grounding type of submarine cable in case of magnetic field detection method, and indicates the method to reduce the measurement error in buried type of distribution submarine cable system.

Conventional Color-Based Face Recognition Methods are Sensitive to Illumination Changes, and there are the Possibilities of Forgery and Falsification so that it is Difficult to Apply to Various Industrial Fields. In This Paper, we propose a Face Recognition Method Based on LBP(Local Binary Pattern) using the Depth Images to Solve This Problem. Face Detection Method Using Depth Information and Feature Extraction and Matching Methods for Face Recognition are implemented, the Simulation Results show the Recognition Performance of the Proposed Method.

Recently, research on smart factories triggered by the 4th industrial revolution is being actively conducted. Accordingly, the manufacturing industry is conducting various studies to improve productivity and quality based on deep learning technology with robust performance. This paper is a study on the method of detecting tire surface defects in the visual inspection stage of the tire manufacturing process, and introduces a tire surface defect detection method using a depth image acquired through a 3D camera. The tire surface depth image dealt with in this study has the problem of low contrast caused by the shallow depth of the tire surface and the difference in the reference depth value due to the data acquisition environment. And due to the nature of the manufacturing industry, algorithms with performance that can be processed in real time along with detection performance is required. Therefore, in this paper, we studied a method to normalize the depth image through relatively simple methods so that the tire surface defect detection algorithm does not consist of a complex algorithm pipeline. and conducted a comparative experiment between the general normalization method and the normalization method suggested in this paper using YOLO V3, which could satisfy both detection performance and speed. As a result of the experiment, it is confirmed that the normalization method proposed in this paper improved performance by about 7% based on mAP 0.5, and the method proposed in this paper is effective.
Background: Inspection of livestock farms using surveillance cameras is emerging as a means of early detection of transboundary animal disease such as African swine fever (ASF). Object tracking, a developing technology derived from object detection aims to the consistent identification of individual objects in farms. Objectives: This study was conducted as a preliminary investigation for practical application to livestock farms. With the use of a high-performance artificial intelligence (AI)-based 3D depth camera, the aim is to establish a pathway for utilizing AI models to perform advanced object tracking. Methods: Multiple crossovers by two humans will be simulated to investigate the potential of object tracking. Inspection of consistent identification will be the evidence of object tracking after crossing over. Two AI models, a fast model and an accurate model, were tested and compared with regard to their object tracking performance in 3D. Finally, the recording of pig pen was also processed with aforementioned AI model to test the possibility of 3D object detection. Results: Both AI successfully processed and provided a 3D bounding box, identification number, and distance away from camera for each individual human. The accurate detection model had better evidence than the fast detection model on 3D object tracking and showed the potential application onto pigs as a livestock. Conclusions: Preparing a custom dataset to train AI models in an appropriate farm is required for proper 3D object detection to operate object tracking for pigs at an ideal level. This will allow the farm to smoothly transit traditional methods to ASF-preventing precision livestock farming.
In this paper, we will present a container auto-landing system, the system use the stereo camera to measure the container depth information. And the container region can be detected by using its hough line feature. In the line feature detection algorithm, we will detect the parallel lines and perpendicular lines which compose the rectangle region. Among all the candidate regions, we can select the region with the same aspect-ratio to the container. The region will be the detected container region. After having the object on both left and right images, we can estimate the distance from camera to object and container dimension. Then all the detect dimension information and depth inform will be applied to reconstruct the virtual environment of crane which will be introduce in this paper. Through the simulation result, we can know that, the container detection rate achieve to 97% with simple background. And the estimation algorithm can get a more accuracy result with a far distance than the near distance.

In this paper, we investigate a real-time environment recognition system based on stereo vision for moving object. This system consists of stereo matching, obstacle detection and distance estimation. In stereo matching part, depth maps can be obtained real road images captured adjustable baseline stereo vision system using belief propagation(BP) algorithm. In detection part, various obstacles are detected using only depth map in case of both v-disparity and column detection method under the real road environment. Finally in estimation part, asymmetric parabola fitting with NCC method improves estimation of obstacle detection. This stereo vision system can be applied to many applications such as unmanned vehicle and robot.

This paper propose a method to detect and track a human face using depth information as well as color images for detection of drowsy driving. It consists of a face detection procedure and a face tracking procedure. The face detection procedure basically uses the Adaboost method which shows the best performance so far. But it restricts the area to be searched as the region where the face is highly possible to exist. The face detected in the detection procedure is used as the template to start the face tracking procedure. The experimental results showed that the proposed detection method takes only about 23 % of the execution time of the existing method. In all the cases except a special one, the tracking error ratio is as low as about 1 %.
Human activity recognition using depth information is an emerging and challenging technology in computer vision due to its considerable attention by many practical applications such as smart home/office system, personal health care and 3D video games. This paper presents a novel framework of 3D human body detection, tracking and recognition from depth video sequences using spatiotemporal features and modified HMM. To detect human silhouette, raw depth data is examined to extract human silhouette by considering spatial continuity and constraints of human motion information. While, frame differentiation is used to track human movements. Features extraction mechanism consists of spatial depth shape features and temporal joints features are used to improve classification performance. Both of these features are fused together to recognize different activities using the modified hidden Markov model (M-HMM). The proposed approach is evaluated on two challenging depth video datasets. Moreover, our system has significant abilities to handle subject's body parts rotation and body parts missing which provide major contributions in human activity recognition.
Novel computational integral imaging technique with enhanced depth sensitivity is proposed. For each lateral position at a given depth plane, the dissimilarity between corresponding pixels of the elemental images is measured and used as a suppressing factor for that position. Experimental and simulation results show that reconstructed depth image on the incorrect depth plane is effectively suppressed.
Aggression among pigs adversely affects economic returns and animal welfare in intensive pigsties. Recently, some studies have applied information technology to a livestock management system to minimize the damage resulting from such anomalies. Nonetheless, detecting each pig in a crowed pigsty is still challenging problem. In this paper, we propose a new Kinect camera and deep learning-based monitoring system for the detection of the individual pigs. The proposed system is characterized as follows. 1) The background subtraction method and depth-threshold are used to detect only standing-pigs in the Kinect-depth image. 2) The standing-pigs are detected by using YOLO (You Only Look Once) which is the fastest and most accurate model in deep learning algorithms. Our experimental results show that this method is effective for detecting individual pigs in real time in terms of both cost-effectiveness (using a low-cost Kinect depth sensor) and accuracy (average 99.40% detection accuracies).
