Effects of the Deposition Rate of Pentacene Film on the Electrical Characteristics of Organic Thin-film Transistors

  • Organic thin-film transistors were fabricated using pentacene as an active electronic material. Device characteristics are improved with increasing the deposition rate of pentacene. It is observed that the deposition rate influences on the interface properties between pentacene and polystyrene, and the molecular ordering of pentacene film. In this paper, we report the effects of the deposition rate of pentacene film on the device performance.

Effects of indium tin oxide top electrode formation conditions on the characteristics of the top emission inverted organic light emitting diodes

  • Indium tin oxide (ITO) was used as the top anode of top emission inverted organic light emitting diodes (TEIOLEDs). TEIOLEDs were fabricated by deposition of an aluminum bottom cathode, an N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-bis(3-methylphenyl)-1, 1'-diphenyl-4, 4 1'-diamine (TPD) hole transport layer, a tris-8-hydroxyquinoline aluminum ($Alq_3$) emission layer, and an ITO top anode sequentially. ITO was deposited by r.f. magnetron sputtering without $O_2$ flow during the deposition. After the deposition, the deposited ITO layer was kept under oxygen atmosphere for the oxidation. The characteristics of the TEOILED were affected significantly by the post-deposition oxidation condition.

금속 분말의 레이저 적층 시 표면 및 단면 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Laser Deposition Surface and Cross-section for Metal Powder)

  • In this study, we compared the physical and chemical properties evaluation for each size in the SUS316L metal powder produced by water atomization and gas atomization. and we analyzed the experimental data in order to find the basis of a suitable metal powder (SUS316L) for DED (Direct Energy Deposition) processing. Also it evaluated the properties of each layered surface and cross section according to the number of deposition and deposition speed. In the result of optical microscopy measurements, the metal powder by water atomization was the crack generated between the deposition layer, the deposition layer was poor quality. However, metal powder by gas atomization was obtained a relatively good deposition results than metal powder by water atomization.

실린더의 회전이 원형 실린더 주위의 입자 부유 유동 및 입자 부착에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Cylinder Rotation on Particle Laden Flow and Particle Deposition on a Rotating Circular Cylinder)

  • 원형 실린더 주위의 유동에 부유된 입자가 실린더 근처에서 분산되거나 실린더에 부착되는 특성을 이해하는 것이 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 입자의 부착을 조절하는 방안으로 실린더의 회전을 고려해 보았고, 실린더의 회전 속도 및 입자의 Stokes 수가 실린더 주위의 유동과 입자의 분산 및 부착 특성에 미치는 영향을 수치해석적으로 연구하였다. 해석 결과 4보다 작은 Stokes 수에서는 회전속도가 증가함에 따라 부착효율이 크게 감소하였고, 4보다 큰 Stokes 수에서는 회전속도가 증가함에 따라 부착효율이 다소 증가하였다. 한편, 회전속도가 일정한 경우에는 Stokes 수가 증가함에 따라 입자의 부착효율이 증가하고, 입자의 부착 위치도 넓어졌다.

  • 본 논문은 지열을 이용한 코일 침적형 히트펌프 시스템의 운전변수에 대한 최적 설계를 위해서 히트펌프의 성능 특성을 실험적으로 조사하였다. 본 연구에서 고려된 작동변수로는 과냉각도, 증발온도, 응축온도 등이다. 그 실험결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 지열 이용 코일 침적형 히트펌프 시스템의 증발온도와 과냉각도가 증가할수록, 응축온도는 감소할수록 성능계수는 증가함을 알 수 있다. 즉, 지열 이용 코일 침적형 히트펌프 시스템의 증발온도, 응축온도, 과냉각도는 냉방과 난방의 성능계수에 영향을 미치는 것을 알 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서 제안하는 히트펌프 시스템이 최고의 성능을 나타내기 위한 최적의 운전조건을 결정할 필요가 있다.

  • The use of additive manufacturing processes for the repair and remanufacturing of mechanical parts has attracted considerable attention because of strict environmental regulations. Directed energy deposition (DED) is widely used to retrofit mechanical parts. In this study, finite element analyses (FEAs) were performed to investigate the influence of the substrate phase and inclination angle on the heat transfer characteristics in the vicinity of Hastelloy X regions deposited via DED. FE models that consider the bead size and hatch distance were designed. A volumetric heat source model with a Gaussian distribution in a plane was adopted as the heat flux model for DED. The substrate and the deposited powder were S45C structural steel and Hastelloy X, respectively. Temperature-dependent thermal properties were considered while performing the FEAs. The effects of the substrate phase and inclination angle on the temperature distributions and depth of the heat-affected zone (HAZ) in the vicinity of the deposited regions were examined. Furthermore, the influence of deposition paths on depths of the HAZ were investigated. The results of the analyses were used to determine the suitable phase and inclination angle of the substrate as well as the appropriate deposition path.

  • The structural and electrical characteristics of PLZT thin films fabricated onto $Pt/IrO_2/Ir/Ti/SiO_2/Si$ substrates by a pulsed laser deposition were investigated to develop the high dielectric thin films for capacitor layer of semiconductor memory devices The slim region 14/50/50 PLZT thin films were fabricated by PLD and estimated the characteristics for memory application 14/50/50 PLZT thin films have crystallize into perovskite structure at the $600^{\circ}C$ deposition temperature, 200 mTorr of oxygen pressure, and 2 $J/cm^2$ of laser energy density. In this condition PLZT thin films had the dielectric constant as high as 985, storage charge density 8.17 ${\mu}C/cm^2$ and charging time 0.20 ns. Leakage current density was less than $10^{-10}A/cm^2$ up to 5 V bias voltage.

고속 스퍼터링 소스를 이용한 구리 후막 제조 및 특성 평가 (Characteristics of Cu Thick Films Deposited by High Rate Magnetron Sputtering Source)

  • A high rate magnetron sputtering source (HRMSS) was employed to deposit thick copper films. The HRMSS was manufactured by changing the magnet size, arrangement, and field intensity. For the preparation of thick copper films, the copper sputtering conditions using HRMSS were characterized based on the deposition parameters such as discharge characteristics, I-V characteristics of the source, and change of deposition rate. The deposition rate of copper turned out to be more than 5 times than that of conventional magnetron sputtering source. Thick copper films having thickness of more than $20{\mu}m$ were prepared by using HRMSS. The morphology and orientation of the films were investigated by scanning electron microscopy and x-ray diffraction.

Electron-beam Evaporation의 증착 방법에 따른 MgO Layer의 표면 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Surface Characteristics of MgO Layer as the Various Deposition Methods of Electron-beam Evaporation)

  • A MgO layer is used as electrode protective film in the alternating current plasma display panel (AC PDP). The properties of MgO layer are thought to be one of the most important factors that affects the panel reliability through the firing voltage variation. In this study, we investigated the relations between the surface characteristics and e-beam evaporation process parameters such as deposition rate, temperature of substrate and distance between the MgO pellet and substrate. To produce the MgO layer of (200) crystal orientation, we suggest the high temperature of the substrate, the long distance between the pellet and substrate and the high deposition rate.

Electrical characteristics of multi-walled carbon nanotube-polyethylene composites by catalyst and gas control

  • In this study, the electrical conductivity of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and polyethylene synthesized by an extrusion process was evaluated. The MWCNTs used exhibited differences in their dispersion characteristics depending on the type of catalyst or synthesis gas used. Thus, the choice of catalyst or synthesis gas significantly affect the physicochemical state of the final MWCNTs and MWCNT-based composites. In this investigation, the characteristics of MWCNTs were analyzed in four cases by introducing ethylene and propylene gas to each catalyst synthesized using deposition precipitation and spray drying methods. The MWCNT-based composites synthesized using the catalyst prepared by deposition precipitation and the ethylene synthesis gas showed the best electrical conductivity. In principle, the morphologies of the MWCNTs indicate that the smaller the aggregate size and bundle thickness, the better the electrical conductivity of the MWCNT composites. This implies that the network is well-formed.
