  • This study aims to evaluate the influence of vitamin and mineral supplement intake, and degree of calcium and phosphorus intake on occurrence of dental caries in primary teeth. Research data was derived from the Fourth Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) and 1,139 Korean children of 3 to 6 years were selected as subject for this study. The dft index, nutrition factor including vitamin or mineral supplement intake and degree of intake for calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P) were identified. Chi-square test was performed to assess the difference in socioeconomic status, oral health behavior and nutrition factor, including vitamin or mineral supplement intake and degree of intake for Ca and P. Linear regression analysis was performed to identify the relationship between the dft index and the related variables. As a result, the dft index was increased with the age. Significant differences in Ca intake was examined according to the sex, and P intake was different according to the sex in 3-year-old group. Among the 4-year-old children, the vitamin and mineral supplement takers had 1.206 less dft index than the non-takers. In conclusion, intake of Ca, P and vitamin/mineral supplement was not a pivotal factor to influence the incidence of primary teeth caries. However, significantly low dft index was observed from 4-year-old group who intake vitamin or mineral.

The subject of this study was an online survey of 103 dental hygienists working in medical institutions from June to August 2021 and analyzed using the SPSS 21.0 program. As a result, work experience was positively correlated with perception (r=.280, p<0.01) and work (r=.303, p<0.01), and work experience with perception (r=.411, p<0.01).Hazardous chemical information showed a positive correlation with practice (r=.371, p<0.01). As a result of the education requirement survey, only 27.2% had experience in hazardous chemical education, and 96.1% of the awareness of the need for education was highly surveyed. As for the desired method of education, 49.5% of them were online education, and the desired time for education was 1 hour. Therefore, in order to create a safe working environment for dental hygienists and to secure the safety of hazardous chemicals, it was necessary to expand educational opportunities at universities, medical institutions, and maintenance education, and to increase accessibility through online education.

  • This study was conducted to collect the basic data to provide for the purpose of the development of dental field. This research is to find the relationship between the level of recognized empowerment of hygienists working in dental clinics and the factors influencing on work achievement in the system of dental clinics. The population of the research is some randomely chosen dental clinics located in Seoul City during the period from March 22 to April 30, 2010, and the sample of 256 female dental hygienists working in the field were recruited as the analysis object group. The data on general characteristics and empowerment were collected by a questionnaire survey. The collected data were analyzed with the SPSS WIN 12.0 program. The following shows the results of this study. 1. The empowerment level of the analysis subject group was 3.63. It is significant statistically that the longer working career or higher annual salary, the higher empowerment level (p<0.05). 2. It shows the high level of empowerment in the group of hygienists who are in education counsel (p<0.01), and who have a permanent job (p<0.05) than others. 3. There is a significant correlation among capability, age, career, annual salary (p<0.01). 4. There is a significant correlation among self determination, age(p<0.05), career (p<0.01), annual salary (p<0.05). 5. In regression analysis, career is proved as one of the significant factors that is related to the empowerment in dental hygienists (p<0.05). This finding shows high level of empowerment in dental hygienists who hold high level of career, annual salary, education counsel jobs, or permanent jobs. Therefore, I suggest with the result of the study that the organization of dental clinic needs to improve its capability and efficiency with the efficient manpower management. • Purpose: This study examined the work-related musculoskeletal pain and quality of life of hospital workers. Methods: Self-reported questionnaires were sent to 350 hospital workers at Seoul and Gyeonggi-do, of which 341 were returned. The questionnaire had four items that covered the demographic information, areas of musculoskeletal problems, pain rating scale, and quality of life. The analysis was completed using descriptive statistic, and the differences between pain and demographic variables were identified using a chi-square test. The differences between the type of occupation and quality of life were analyzed by one-way analysis of variance and a Kruskal-Wallis test. Results: The 12-month prevalence of work-related musculoskeletal pain was 86.1% of physical therapists, 86.5% of occupational therapists, 77.1% of dental hygienists, and 75.8% of nurses. A significant difference in the general and work related variables was observed between the subject with a physical burden and type of occupation. The most affected pain sites of the physical therapist included low back, hand and wrist, shoulder, and neck. The occupational therapists included the hand and wrist, shoulder, neck, but the nurses and dental hygienists reported the shoulder, back, hand and wrist. A significant difference in the quality of life was noted between the subjects in physical therapists and dental hygienists and the subjects in the nurses and occupational therapists (p=0.00). Conclusion: These findings show that hospital workers appear to be high risk for work-related musculoskeletal pain, and the quality of life of physical therapists and nurses was higher than that of dental hygienists and occupational therapists.

The subjects of the study were 10,806 subjects who answered to National Health and Nutrition survey for (2016, 2017). The response of 1,195 subjects were used for the final analysis. Analysis conducted using SPSS version 12.0 included Chi-square test to identify stress perceived, perceived physical health status and Chewing difficulty rate according to subject characteristics and multivariate logistic regression analysis to determined independent significance. Stress perceived was correlated with perceived physical health status(p=-0.252**), and had a negatively correlation, Chewing difficulty(p=-.150**). Therefore it is necessary to evaluate as a predictor of health risk for the health promotion of the elderly.
