Background: Clinicians determine degree of mammographic density based on tissue firmness on breast examination. The study aimed to compare breast density in mammography and clinical breast examination. Materials and Methods: Six-hundred sixty three women 40 years of age or older were studied. The breast exam density was graded from 1 to 4 by two expert surgeons and the mammographic parenchymal density by two expert radiologists. Then for practical reasons, grades 1 and 2 were considered as low-density and grades 3 and 4 as high-density. Results: High and low densities were detected in 84.5% and 15.5% of clinical breast examinations and 59.7% and 40.3% of mammographies, respectively. The statistical analysis showed a significant difference between the breast tissue densities in breast examination with those in mammography. Conclusions: A clinically dense breast does not necessarily imply a dense mammographic picture.
The effect of fabrication variables and microstructures on the compressive strength of open cell alumina zirconia and silicon nitride ceramics fabricated by polymeric sponge method was investigated. Bulk density and compressive strength of open cell ceramics were mainly affected by coating characteristics of ceramic slurry on polymeric sponge that controlled a shape thickness and defect of the struts. Sintering temperature was optimized for enhancement of strut strength and compressive strength of open cell ceramics. Relative density and compressive strength behaviors were relatively well matched with the predicted values. Open cell ceramics of lower relative density below 0.1 prepared by first relatively well matched with the predicted values. Open cell ceramics of lower relative density below 0.1 prepared by first coating of ceramic slurry had thin triangular prismatic struts that were often broken or longitudinally cracked. With an application of second coating of slurry shape of struts was transformed into thickner cylindrical one and defects in struts were healed but the relative density increased over 0.2 Open cell zirconia had both the highest bulk density and compressive strength and alumina had the lowest compressive strength while silicon nitrides showed relatively high compressive strength and the lowest density. Based upon the analysis open cell silicon nitride was expected to be one of potential structural ceramics with light weight.

In concert halls and auditoriums, acoustic reflector and stage enclosure is one of the main factors on the room and stage acoustic characteristics. As a stage enclosure and acoustic reflector honey comb based light-weight reflector is widely used, because it is easy to install. However, there was not enough research on the surface density effect on room and stage acoustics. In this study, sound absorption coefficient tests on three kinds of wooden acoustic reflectors with different surface density were conducted. Surface density of acoustic reflector was changed from 11 kg/$m^2$ to 41 kg/$m^2$. For the low frequency excitation, sub-woofer was used with omnidirectional loud-speaker simultaneously. From the experiments, it was found that sound absorption coefficient below 250 Hz band was decrease by the increment of surface density. In order to check the influence of the surface density on room and stage acoustic parameters, room acoustic simulation was conducted with sound absorption coefficients, which were tested in reverberation chamber. By the increment of surface density of acoustic reflector, RT(reverberation time) and EDT(early decay time) were increased. Also, ST(stage support) was improved in low frequency bands.
The plasma density distribution in between the electrode and lateral wall of a narrow gap CCP was investigated. The plasma density distribution was obtained using single Langmuir probe, having two peaks of density distribution at the center of electrode and at the peripheral area of electrodes. The plasma density distribution was compared with the RF fluctuation of plasma potential taken from capacitive probe. Ionization reactions obtained from numerical analysis using CFD-$ACE^+$ fluid model based code. The peaks in two region for plasma density and voltage fluctuation have similar spatial distribution according to input power. It was found that plasma density distribution between the electrode and the lateral wall is closely related with the local ionization.
The focus of this work is placed on the analysis of the mixture formation mechanism under the evaporative diesel spray of impinging and free conditions. As an experimental parameter, ambient gas density was selected. Effects of density variation of ambient gas on liquid and vapor-phase inside structure of evaporation diesel spray were investigated. Ambient gas density was changed between ${\rho}a=5.0\;kg/m^3$ and $12.3\;kg/m^3$. In the case of impinging spray, the spray spreading to the radial direction is larger due to the decrease of drag force of ambient gas in the case of the low density than that of the high density. On the other hand, in the case of free spray, in accordance with the increase in the ambient gas density, the liquid-phase length is getting short due to the increase in drag force of ambient gas. In order to examine the homogeneity of mixture consisted of vapor-phase fuel and ambient gas in the spray, image analysis was conducted with statistical thermodynamics based on the non-dimensional entropy (S) method. In the case of application of entropy analysis to diesel spray, the entropy value always increases. The entropy of higher ambient density is higher than that of lower ambient gas density during initial injection period.
Bone density is one of the factors in the early failure of dental implants and doctors should make a preoperative assessment of jaw bone density using patient's CT data before dental implant surgery in order to find out whether the patient has osteoporosis and osteopenia. The main goal of this study was to propose a method that based on image processing techniques in order to provide accurate information about where to drill and place an abutment screw of implants in the jaw bone for doctors and reduce human activity for the estimation of the local cancellous bone density of mandible using CT data. The experiment was performed on a computed tomography data of the jaw bone of two different individuals. We assumed that the result of the estimation of jaw bone density depends on the angle of drilling and average HU (Hounsfield Unit) values were used to evaluate the quality of local cancellous bone density of mandible. As a result of this study, we have been developed a toolbox that can be used to estimate jaw bone density automatically and found a positive correlation between the angle of the drill and time complexity but a negative correlation between the diameter of the drill and time complexity.
Understanding three-dimensional structure and parameters (e.g., radial velocity, angular width, source location and density) of coronal mass ejections (CMEs) is essential for space weather forecast. In this study, we determine CME mean density in solar corona and near the Earth. We select 38 halo CMEs, which have the corresponding interplanetary CMEs (ICMEs), by SOHO/LASCO from 2000 to 2014. To estimate a CME volume, we assume that a CME structure is a full ice-cream cone which is a symmetrical circular cone combined with a hemisphere. We derive CME mean density as a function of radial height, which are approximately fitted to power-law functions. The average of power-law indexes is about 2.1 in the LASCO C3 field of view. We also obtain power-law functions for both CME mean density at 21 solar radii and ICME mean density at 1AU, with the average power-law index of 2.6. We estimate a ratio of CME density to background density based on the Leblanc et al.(1998) at 21 solar radii. Interestingly, the average of the ratios is 4.0, which is the same as a default value used in the WSA-ENLIL model.
Since 1990's, a plywood for flooring base has gotten customers' demand. Costs of raw material and production increased because of changed environment of industry. Tropical timber such as Red Meranti (Shorea acuminate) used for raw material of the floor has been depleting beside countries in South Eastern Asia changed species of afforestation. As a result, it gets hard to secure good quality of raw material for plywood. Moreover plywood price is increased suddenly after earthquake in Japan. Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus) in china has been using for raw material as a countermeasure of changed environment of industry. In this study, possibility of using flooring consisted of Eucalyptus veneer as crossband layers was checked by deflection experiments. Flooring consisted of Red Meranti was used for comparison. Two factors which impact on deflection are a type of density gradient and density difference between Long-grain veneer and Short-grain veneer. Red Meranti samples are M type of density gradient on the other hand Eucalyptus samples are W type of density gradient. The more samples have high density difference, the more deformation was checked. A sample which has big density difference between core and cross bands layer warp more also deform. Flooring was deformed smaller than plywood and samples which have big density difference was deformed more.

The plasma density is an essential plasma parameter describing plasma physics. Furthermore, it affects the throughput and uniformity of plasma processing (etching, deposition, ashing, etc). Therefore, a novel technique for plasma density measurement has been attracting considerable attention. Microwave probe is a promising diagnostic technique. Various type of cutoff, hairpin, impedance, transmission, and absorption probes have been developed and investigated. Recently, based on the basic type of probes, modified flat probe (curling and multipole probes), have been developing for in situ processing plasma monitoring. There is a need for comparative study between the probes. It can give some hints on choosing the reliable probe and application of the probes. In this presentation, we make attempt of numerical study of different kinds of microwave probes. Characteristics of frequency spectrum from probes were analyzed by using three-dimensional electromagnetic simulation. The plasma density, obtained from the spectrum, was compared with simulation input plasma density. The different microwave probe behavior with changes of plasma density, sheath and pressure were found. To confirm the result experimentally, we performed the comparative experiment between cutoff and hairpin probes. The sheath and collision effects are corrected for each probe. The results were reasonably interpreted based on the above simulation.
In this study, the dimensional stability and mechanical properties of bamboo fiber-based composites (BFBCs) were studied at two pressing manufacturing processes, i.e., hot- and cold- pressing, and were compared with three density parameters (1.0, 1.1, and $1.2kg/m^3$). Width swelling ratio (WSR), thickness swelling ratio (TSR), and water absorption ratio (WAR) were calculated for water immersions of 4 and 28 h. WSR, TSR, and WAR for specimens immersed for 28 h were higher than those for 4 h treatment, which shows that the immersion time has a significant influence on the dimensional stabilities of BFBCs. Moreover, the positive linear relations between density and dimensional were observed at both the pressing ways, indicating that the WSR, TSR, and WAR decreased with an increase in the density of BFBCs. The compressive strength, shear strength, modulus of rupture (MOR), and modulus of elasticity (MOE) were determined. The compressive strength, MOR, and MOE of hot-pressed specimens were significantly higher than those for the cold-pressed specimens, which are also directly proportional to density. Moreover, the samples with the highest density of $1.2kg/m^3$ performed high values on mechanical properties in both the manufacturing methods.
