  • After 1970 Years. Korea has developed a concept of public domestic housing. But this house is reached the uppermost limit time of using the occupant's satisfying life. Then reconstruction of Apartment house is urgently needed which is developed in Korea. So this study is examined the demolition work on current reconstructing apartment site. for reconstruction. Therefore this research examined the fitted demolition time of low-rise house and characteristics of demolition works. The conclusions from this experiment are shown below. 1. The average day work in clutcher method is shown about 1, 032㎥/Day. 2. The calculations of the term of construction which is produced by the analysis of demolition construction period on low-rise house is below. D(day) = S(day) + (0.272+0.000902b(㎥))+R(day)

  • Reconstruction and redevelopment of old and dilapidated apartment and housing have been increasing to provide more housing accommodation and to secure the safety of building structures since the middle of 1990's. Since, however, little researches on the demolition technique have been made, conventional mechanical demolition method were applied to the most of works that resulted in flooding in small demolition companies. Problems associated with mechanical demolition method are increase not only in working days and costs, but also in public claims, particularly for high-rise building structures. This is to contribute the demolition industries bt providing the concept, standards, and technique of demolition engineering while maximizing working efficiency and minimizing public claims.

  • Since the 2000s, the demand for private demolition works has been gradually increasing as the apartment housing market has been led by redevelopment and reconstruction. In the case of the military, the Ministry of National Defense is consolidating troops from each military unit to reorganize the unit structure in accordance with Defense Reform 2.0; the plan includes reducing the garrison used by each unit to 70% of its current level. Accordingly, the demand for demolition work in the military is also expected to increase. However, the military regulations do not reflect the relevant laws that have been revised recently. This study identifies regulations and system improvements for demolition work suitable for the military based on an analysis of accident cases that have occurred during demolition work, of domestic and foreign laws and regulations related to military demolition work, and of the problems with current military safety management at each stage of planning, design, and construction. The study subsequently proposes improvements for military demolition work, including budget execution adjustment, the establishment of training courses, on-site inspections, the development of guidelines for military demolition work, the provision of risk assessment standards, and the need for the qualification of equipment operators.

  • The amount of construction waste increased to 176,447 ton/day in 2008 from 28,400 ton/day in 2000, a 6-fold increase in just 10 years. Such dramatic increase in the waste of concrete, asphalt concrete, wood and metals was due to demolition of old buildings as well as a great number of building redevelopment projects and hurried city industrialization. Many buildings targeted for demolition today were built in line with the government policy to provide affordable housing to citizens in the shortest time possible and consequently, said buildings underwent rapid deterioration and required periodic repairs and reconstruction. Based on the above, we predict that construction waste will continue to increase for the foreseeable future. In particular, due to limited availability of suitable space to construct apartments and residential buildings in the city, old buildings are being torn down to make space for new development, further increasing construction waste. In light of that, efforts to recycle as well as reduce generated waste are urgently required.

  • Hereafter, the housing construction industry in a domestic country has to give more relative importance to the redevelopment and the rebuilding of existing housing rather then the housing supply methods by the development of new housing sites, and those tendencies are rapidly spreading out. Also, because apartment occupies $50\%$ over of the existing housing, its maintenance, repair, remodeling and reconstruction got to be necessary area for the slumming prevention of a residential area and the disaster prevention occurred by durability lowering of building. But, as having focused on the housing supply methods by the development of new housing sites, the domestic construction industry has relatively carelessly dealt with deconstruction areas including maintenance, remodeling, redevelopment and reconstruction of old existing housing. Therefore the process of the deconstruction is not well suited to regulations and related technology. This paper suggests the present situation of C&D production and new demolition process through comparative analysis of the present demolition works.

  • An influx of the population to the city has soared due to industrialization. As times go by, cities become densely populated so Korean government started to construct a number of buildings including apartment housings. Because they have become functionally, structurally, esthetically deteriorated over the past two decades. some improvements are needed. There are mainly two ways to improve old buildings: remodeling and reconstruction. Between the two, the first one is more popular as it is less time-consuming and more eco-friendly. Demolition work comes first for both of them and it should not give negative effects since it is regarded as a CP(Critical path) in the overall process. For this reason, a thorough construction management must be done. The reality, however, demolition is managed by the construction manager's experiences and decisions. If the key factor of demolition which is the planning of manpower and machine equipment, is determined by unscientific and subjective judgments, its period and risk also will increase. In particular, eco-friendly demolition can be more risky because it's been rarely conducted. Therefore, scientific and objective ways of demolition management are needed. In this context, this paper aims at analyzing productivity in each process of demolition focusing on manpower and machinery equipment which are the main parts of demolition assuming that the demands of eco-friendly remodeling demolition projects will be increasing. At the same time, by estimating working period through the output, this paper would be helpful to set up the plans for overall project in earlier stage.

  • Recently, construction techniques have been rapidly developed with reconstruction of old buildings, urban regeneration and efforts of restoring natural ecology, so demolition of deteriorated buildings has been rapidly increasing. Demolition work of building should be executed without damaging surrounding environments according to relevant regulations. There are various demolition methods and among them, explosives demolition is the most practical way for expenses and safety of work. As a part of Daejeon stream ecological restoration project, this thesis is a case of executing demolition of Chung-Ang Department Store which was built 35 years ago as covered structure on the upper part of Daejeon stream with explosives demolition. This structure is 8 stories high, total height of 41.6 m including basement floor, $1,650m^2$ for building area and $18,351m^2$ for total floor area. It is located in the center of Daejeon city where shopping centers and buildings are crowded and main facilities are Daejeon subway (18m), backside shopping center (20m), underground shopping center(15m), Mokchuk bridge, Eunjung bridge(0.25m) and fiber-optic cable(0.25m). In this project, implosion was selected for explosives demolition methods by considering this area being a busy urban area, and this project was executed after examining collapse movement of structure in advance using simulation program not to damage main facilities. Total 80kg of explosives and 1,000 detonators were being used. This project will be a good case of executing explosives demolition successfully by applying implosion on urban area in the country.

Database for Construction Materials Management System Based on RFID (RFID 기반의 건축 자재 관리 시스템을 위한 데이터베이스)

  • The efficient materials management in construction field is a very important work required for designing and demolishing building. As the waste amount caused by the building demolition is increased, the concern related to the treatment method, recyclability, and effect on the environment have been gradually increased. In general, the conventional databases for the construction materials management does not consider the reuse of the construction materials on steps for the building demolition and reconstruction, but they only consider managing the type and input amount of them. In this paper, we propose the database system for efficiently managing the various construction materials informations including the location and condition of each construction materials for the efficient reuse of them on the building demolition and reconstruction. The considered informations are obtained the RFID(: Radio Frequency IDentification) system with on-board the location estimation module. Using the reuse management of construction materials, based on the proposed database, we expect the reduction of the construction cost and time.

The right management of C&D waste is being one of very important things, but little research has been conducted to estimate correctly C&D waste. In this study is to suggest standard units of C&D waste which can estimate demolition quantity of apartment. This units can estimate easily and correctly C&D waste in demolition works, also can possible use very important material to carry out policy of national waste management.

  • If we build new building after demolition of commercial building that is located in the downtown, it will be caused a social and environmental problem as wasting of resources and generating of waste. In this study, I investigated about remodel ins, this conclusion is given below. 1. Reconstruction cost is 2.1 times, and construction period is 1.4 times as much remodeling. So remodeling has an advantage. 2. For repairing and reinforcing timeworn building, we reinforced it as using carbon fiber sheet (girder, slab) and injecting method steel plate bonding Also, we tried to maintain efficiency of new building as using epoxy to protect concrete crack. 3. In the side of waste products and cost, remodeling has much more advantage than reconstruct. But demolition used construction period much. Because it had to be reused as repairing and reinforcing. And there was no difference between remodeling cost and reconstruct cost. If we develop research with enterprise.university.laboratory to exploit material and equipment and to train specialized engineer who will has a capacity to know construct repair and reinforce, it can be attribute to prevail remodeling in new construct market.
