Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) may initially present with atypical neurological manifestations, including paraneoplastic neurological syndromes. Herein, we report the case showing an initial manifestation of systemic NHL with paraneoplastic demyelination in the brain that initially mimicked the symptoms of stroke, seizure, and brain tumor. A high index of suspicion and timely diagnostic workup is required to prevent diagnostic delay and commence proper management of the condition. In this situation, a whole-body FDG PET/CT could be useful to screen for occult malignancy.
Since the late 1980s, an Increasing number of neural network models have been studied in the areas of financial prediction and analysis. The purpose of this study is to Investigate the possibility of building a neural network model that is able to construct a profitable trading strategy in the Korean Stock Market. This study classifies stocks into the future market winners and losers from the publicly available accounting information and builds portfolios based on this information. The performances of the winner portfolios and the loser portfolios are compared with each other and against the market index. The empirical result of this research is consistent with the traditional fundamental analysis where it is claimed that the financial statements contain firm values that may not be fully reflected In stock prices without delay. Despite the supporting empirical evidence. It is somewhat Inconclusive as to whether or not the abnormal return in excess of market return is the result of the extra knowledge obtained in the neural network models derived from the historical accounting data. This research attempts to open another avenue using neural network models for searching for evidence against market efficiency where statistics and intuition have played a major role.
Availability of abundant water resources data in developing countries is a great concern that has hindered the adoption of deep learning techniques (DL) for disaster prevention and mitigation. On the contrary, over the last two decades, a sizeable amount of DL publication in disaster management emanated from developed countries with efficient data management systems. To understand the current state of DL adoption for solving water-related disaster management in developing countries, an extensive bibliometric review coupled with a theory-based analysis of related research documents is conducted from 2003 - 2022 using Web of Science, Scopus, VOSviewer software and PRISMA model. Results show that four major disasters - pluvial / fluvial flooding, land subsidence, drought and snow avalanche are the most prevalent. Also, recurrent flash floods and landslides caused by irregular rainfall pattern, abundant freshwater and mountainous terrains made India the only developing country with an impressive DL adoption rate of 50% publication count, thereby setting the pace for other developing countries. Further analysis indicates that economically-disadvantaged countries will experience a delay in DL implementation based on their Human Development Index (HDI) because DL implementation is capital-intensive. COVID-19 among other factors is identified as a driver of DL. Although, the Long Short Term Model (LSTM) model is the most frequently used, but optimal model performance is not limited to a certain model. Each DL model performs based on defined modelling objectives. Furthermore, effect of input data size shows no clear relationship with model performance while final model deployment in solving disaster problems in real-life scenarios is lacking. Therefore, data augmentation and transfer learning are recommended to solve data management problems. Intensive research, training, innovation, deployment using cheap web-based servers, APIs and nature-based solutions are encouraged to enhance disaster preparedness.
PURPOSES : Long-life asphalt pavements are used widely in developed countries. In order to be able to devise an effective maintenance strategy for such pavements, in this study, we evaluated the performance of the long-life asphalt pavements constructed along the national highways in South Korea. Further, an economic evaluation of the long-life asphalt pavements was performed based on a life-cycle cost analysis. We aimed to devise a model for evaluating the performance of long-life asphalt pavements using the national highway pavement management system (PMS) database as well as for analyzing the economic feasibility of such pavements, in order to promote their use in South Korea. METHODS : The maintenance history and pavement performance data were obtained from the national highway PMS database. The pavement performances for a total of 292 sections of 10 lanes (5 northbound lanes and 5 eastbound lanes) of national highways were used in this study. Models to predict the performances of hot mix asphalt (HMA) and long-life asphalt pavements under two distinct traffic conditions were developed using a simple regression method. Further, the economic feasibility of long-life asphalt pavements was evaluated using the Korea Pavement Management System (KoPMS). RESULTS : We developed service-life prediction models based on the traffic volume and the equivalent of single-axle load and found that long-life asphalt pavements have service lives 50% longer than those of HMA pavements. Further, the results of the economic analysis showed that long-life asphalt pavements are superior in terms of various economic indexes, including user cost, delay cost, total cost, and user benefits, even though their maintenance cost is higher than that of HMA pavements. A comparison of the economic feasibilities of the various groups showed that group A is superior to HMA pavements in all aspects except in terms of the maintenance criterion (crack 20% or higher) as per the NPV index. However, the long-life asphalt pavements in group B were superior in terms of the maintenance criterion (crack 25% or higher) regardless of the economic feasibility. CONCLUSIONS : The service life of long-life asphalt pavements was found to be approximately 50% longer than that of HMA pavements, regardless of the traffic volume characteristics. The economic feasibility of long-life asphalt pavements was evaluated based on the KoPMS. The results of the economic analysis were the following: long-life asphalt pavements are exceptional in terms of almost all factors, such as user cost, delay cost, total cost, and user benefit; however, the exception is the maintenance cost. Further, the economic feasibility of the long-life asphalt pavements in group B was found to be better than that of the HMA pavements (crack 25% or higher).
This study investigated the results of insulation heat curing method using double layer bubble sheet in slab concrete and mass concrete in cold weather environment. First of all, when double bubble sheets are applied, it was shown that slab concrete was protected from early freezing by remaining between 6 and 15℃ even in case outside temperature drops -9℃ below zero until the 2nd day from piling, and in the case of mass concrete, with the maximum temperature difference between the center and surface less than 4℃, crack occurrence index was close to 2 and no hydration heat crack occurred by internal constraint. The insulation heat preservation curing method using the double bubble sheet applied in this field prevented early freezing owing to stable curing temperature management, deterring concrete strength development delay at low temperature, and obtained the needed strength. Also, it was proven that the method is highly effective and economic for cold weather concrete quality maintenance through curing cost reduction like construction period shortening and labor cost reduction, etc by reducing the process of temporary equipment installation and disassembling.
MECA(Metrix for Evaluation of Risk based Configuration factors Alternatives)방법론과 변화에 대한 사업비, 사업기간, 리스크를 통합하여 평가할 수 있는 3DAM(Three-Dimensional Area Measurement Method)과 CII(Configuration Innovation Index) 방법론을 개발하여, 변화에 유기적으로 대응할 수 있는 변화관리 프로세스를 제안하였다.
