  • In this study, we investigated the effect of electrodes on resistance switching of TaOx film. Pt, Ni, TiN, Ti and Al metal electrodes having the different oxidation degree were deposited on TaOx/Pt stack. Unipolar resistance switching behavior in Pt or Ni/TaOx/Pt MIM stacks was investigated, but bipolar resistance switching behavior in TiN, Ti or Al /TaOx/Pt MIM stacks was shown. We investigated that the voltage dependence of capacitance was decreased with higher oxidation degree of metal electrodes. Through the C-V results, we expected that linearity ($\alpha$) and quadratic ($\beta$) coefficient was reduced with an increase of interface layer between top electrode and Tantalum oxide. Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) images depicted the thickness of interface layer formed with different oxidation degree of top electrode. Unipolar resistance switching behavior shown in lower oxidation degree of top electrode was expected to be generated by the formation of the conducting path in TaOx film. But redox reaction in interface between top electrode and Tantalum oxide may play an important role on bipolar resistance switching behavior exhibited in higher oxidation degree of top electrode. We expected that the resistance switching characteristics were determined by oxidation degree of metal electrodes.

  • Thermal emissivity of nuclear graphite was measured with its oxidation degree. Commercial nuclear graphites (IG-110, PECA, IG-430, and NBG-18) have been used as samples. Concave on graphites surface increased as its oxidation degree increased, and R value (Id/Ig) of the graphites decreased as the oxidation degree increased. The thermal emissivity increased depending on the decrease of the R (Id/Ig) value through Raman spectroscopy analysis. It was determined that the thermal emissivity was influenced by the crystallinity of the nuclear graphite.

  • In order to investigate the exhaust structure and secondary oxidation of unburned hydrocarbon (HC) in the exhaust port, a numerical simulation was performed with 3-dimensional flow model and oxidation mechanism optimized for port oxidation. To predict the exhaust and oxidation process with consideration of flow, mixing, and temperature, 3-dimensional flow model and HC oxidation model were used with a commercial computational program, STAR-CD. The flow model were with moving grid for valve motion, which could predict the change of flow field with respect to valve lift. Optimization was performed to predict the HC oxidation with temperature range of 1200~1500K, low HC and oxygen concentration, existence of intermediate species, as typical in port oxidation. The constructed model could predict the port oxidation process with oxidation degree of 14~48% according to the engine operation conditions.

  • In order to investigate the exhaust structure and secondary oxidation of unburned hydrocarbon (HC) in the exhaust port, concentrations of individual HC species were measured in exhaust process, the degree of oxidation were obtained. Using a solenoid-driven fast sampling system on single-cylinder research engine fueled with 94% propane, the profiles of unburned hydrocarbons (HCs) and non-fuel HCs with a propane fueled engine were obtained from several locations in the exhaust port during the exhaust process. The sampled gases were analyzed using a gas chromatography of HC species with 4 or lesser carbon atoms. The change of total HC concentration and HC fractions of major components through the exhaust port were discussed. The results showed that non-uniform distribution of HC concentration existed around the exhaust valve and changed with time, and that the exhaust gas exhibited nearly uniform concentration profile at port exit, which was due to mixing and oxidation. Also it could be known that bulk gas with relatively high HC concentration came out through the bottom of the exhaust valve. To estimate the mass-based degree of HC oxidation in the exhaust port from measured HC concentrations, a 3-zone diagnostic cycle simulation and plug flow modeling were used. The degree of oxidation ranged between 26 % and 36 % corresponding to the engine operation conditions.

  • Dependence of graphitic structure on oxidation of carbon materials was discussed using furan resin-derived carbon with inorganic compounds such as SiC and TiO2 Oxidation of carbon was governed by active site. I. e surface area regardless of the degree of graphitization. When oxidation was considered for not unit weight but unit area graphitization was important factor for oxidation so that the degree of graphitization increased the oxidation rate was delayed. Graphite (tiO2 addition) and turbostratic graphite(SiC addition) were oxidized through the same mechanism. In carbon materials with different structure components more than 2 oxidation of each component was different and amorphous component without the influence of additives on the surface was selectively oxidized in the intial oxidation stage.

  • The effect of heated oil on human nutrition has recently become of great interest to nutritionists and food chemists. However, the detrimental effect of heated oil has been hardly studied extensively and many problems have still remained unsolved. This study was carried out to investigate the storage stability of the heated oils at room temperature (25$\pm$5$^{\circ}C$), with the variation in storage conditions (addition of spices and herbs) for 7 weeks period. The rancidity of the oils according to storage time and condition was measured and compared with TBA, ferric thiocyanate, and DPPH method. For fresh oil, when stored for 7 weeks at room temperature, her was no significant change in the degree of oxidation. But for the heated oil with frying materials, the degree of oxidation significantly increased at 5 weeks(p<0.05). When stored with spices and herbs, the degree of oxidation significantly decreased with storage period(p<0.05). Antioxidative activity of herbs, especially sage group was higher than that of any other group.

  • The liquid phase oxidation of p-xylene has been carried out with oxygen-enriched gas, and the manganese component was precipitated probably via over-oxidation to $Mn^{4+}$. The precipitation increased with rising oxygen concentration in the reaction gas and occurred mainly in the later part of the oxidation. The activity of the reaction decreased, and the blackening of the product and side reactions to carbon dioxide increased with the degree of precipitation. Precipitation can be decreased with the addition of metal ions, such as cerium, chromium and iron.

  • Various crosslinked poly(4-vinylpyridines) (CHP4VP) having different degrees of crosslinking were synthesized by radical copolymerization of 4-vinylpyridine with if N,N' -1, 6-hexamethylenebisacrylamide, and CHP4VP- Cu(II) complexes were prepared by the method of adsorption equilibrium. The catalytic activity of the complexes for the oxidation of ascorbic acid (AA) was investigated. The oxidation of AA by these complexes showed a kinetic behavior of the Michaelis-Menten type. The catalytic activity of CHP4VP-Cu(I ) catalytic system was increased with increasing the degree of crosslinking of CHP4VP, and its activity was scarcely decreased even after repeated use. However, the tendency of the catalytic activity of CHP4VP-Cu(II) complexes was decreased for the oxidation of AA when compared with that of the previously reported catalytic system containing crosslinked poly(4-vinylpyridine) prepared using N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide as a crosslinker. These results indicate that the degree of crosslinking of CHP4VP and the hydrophobicity of the crosslinker play an important role in the catalytic system of the oxidation of AA.

  • Graphite for the nuclear reactor is used to the moderator, reflector and supporter in which fuel rod inside of nuclear reactor. Recently, there are many researches has been performed on the various characteristics of nuclear graphite, however most of them are restricted to the structural and the mechanical properties. Therefore we focused on the thermal property of nuclear graphite. This study investigated the thermal emissivity following the oxidation degree of nuclear graphite with IG-11 used as a sample. IG-11 was oxidized to 6% and 11% in air at 5 l/min at $600^{\circ}C$. The porosity and thermal emissivity of the sample were measured using a mercury porosimeter and by an IR method, respectively. The thermal emissivity of an oxidized sample was measured at $100^{\circ}C$, $200^{\circ}C$, $300^{\circ}C$, $400^{\circ}C$ and $500^{\circ}C$. The porosity of the oxidized samples was found to increase as the oxidation degree increased. The thermal emissivity increased as the oxidation degree increased, and the thermal emissivity decreased as the measured temperature increased. It was confirmed that the thermal emissivity of oxidized IG-11 is correlated with the porosity of the sample.
