Effect of Internal Fibrillation on the Paper Properties (내부소섬유화가 종이 물성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effect of internal fibrillation on the pulp and paper properties. The internal fibrillation was introduced into the SwBKP and recycled SwBKP by the mechanical treatment with Hobart mixer. WRV and physical properties of SwBKP were improved by the internal fibrillation. However the mechanical treatment of recycled SwBKP resulted in the decrease of strength properties of paper except for the tear index, although it was observed that WRV was somewhat increased by the mechanical treatment. The decrease of strength properties of recycled SwBKP might be caused by the hornification of fiber and the decrease of fiber strength.

  • We examine the process to enhance the productivity of the thin-film transistor-addressed liquid-crystal display (TFT LCD) panels with the objective of optimizing the relation between the Type of color PR dispense nozzle and the amount of dispensing of color PR consumption, directly affecting a spectroscopic analysis. Most manufacturers of the panels have been utilizing a spin-type coater. We show that we successfully optimize the spectral values by controlling the color PR dispense type(Static dispense or Dynamic dispense) and the amount of color PR. From this study, we accomplished to decrease 43% in color PR consumption and to decrease 30% in color PR Stained, to decrease 30% rework rate.

  • In order to evaluate the effect of Polygoni Multiflori Radix on the atherosclerosis induced by high cholesteol diet, rabbits were fed with 4% cholesterol diet, 4% cholesterol-4% Polygoni Multiflori Radix diet during 12 weeks. After 12 weeks, histological changes in coronary artery of rabbits were studied. The results were obtained as follows; 1. At the area % of lumen in coronary arteries, Polygoni Multiflori Radix group showed significant inhibitory effect against decrease of area % in control group. 2. At the atheroma formation in coronary arteries, Polygoni Multiflori Radix group showed decrease effect as compared with control group. 3. At the mucoprotein formation in wall of coronary arteries, Polygoni Multiflori Radix group showed decrease effect as compared with control group. 4. At the lesion of elastic fibers in coronary arteries, Polygoni Multiflori Radix group didn't show effective changes as compared with control group.

The Influence of Source Term Release Parameters on Health Effects

  • The influence of source term release parameters on offsite health effects was examined for the YGN 3&4 nuclear power plants. The release parameters considered in this study are release height, heat content, and release time. The effects of core inventory change as a function of fuel burnup was also examined. The health effects by the change of release parameters are early fatalities, cancer fatalities, and early fatality distance. The results showed that early fatalities and early fatality distance decrease as release height increases, although it does not have significant influence on cancer fatalities. The values of both early and late health effects decrease as heat content increases. As release time increases, health consequence shows maximum value in 2 hours of release time and then decreases rapidly. As fuel burnup increases, early fatalities decrease rapidly, while cancer fatalities increase rapidly. Both cases show little variation afterward. Early fatality distance is almost same in all fuel turnup history. The information obtained through this research is very useful in developing strategies for reducing offsite consequences when combined with the influence of weather conditions on offsite risks.

  • The effects of polymer-cement ratio and shrinkage-reducing agent content on the durability characteristics of ultrarapid-hardening polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powder are examined. As a result, the flexural and tensile strengths of the ultrarapid-hardening polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powder tend to increase with increasing polymer-cement ratio, and tend to decrease with increasing shrinkage-reducing agent content. However, the compressive strength of the ultrarapid-hardening polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powder decrease with increasing polymer-cement ratio and shrinkage-reducing agent content. And, water absorption and mass change of chemicals resistance of ultrarapid-hardening polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powder tend to decrease with increasing polymer-cement ratio.

  • Injury Ratio Survey Regulations(IRS) was introduced to the construction industry in the Republic of Korea since 1992 and brought positive effect on occupational accidents reduction. There were tremendous decrease of injury ratios and enforcing of contractors' safety organizations from the beginning of IRS. In spite of these positive results, there were some negative effects such as contractors' shrinking injury reports to keep good injury ratios since these figures had a great impact on pre-qualification stage of bidding when general contractors were competing for new construction projects. Thus, this study aims to devote on lessening construction injury and elimination of above negative impacts through the quantitative statistic analysis of the effectiveness on the occupational accidents prevention of IRS. According to this assessment, there were decrease of from 6.37% to 44.34% in the accident ratios compared to those of non-IRS groups and decrease of from 3.32% to 83.51 % in the accident ratios compared to those of general industry including the unreported accidents.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the glucose and lipid metabolic changes physical exercise of patients with NIDDM. The physical exercise consisted of 15 minutes per day on a bicycle ergometer at $70\%$ maximum heart rate. The results of this study which were calculated from the level of glucose and lipid metabolism of the preexercise and after 2weeks exercise were as follows. 1. Blood glucose was siginificiantly decreased after physical exercise of two weeks(P<0.005). 2. Total cholesterol showed a tendency to decrease after physical exercise of two weeks, but the difference was statistically insignificiant. 3. Triglyceride showed a tendency to decrease on female, but triglyceride on man was inclose after exercise. 4. HDL showed a tendency to increase after physical exercise of two weeks, but the results were statistically insigificiant. 5. LDL showed a tendency to decrease after physical exercise of two weeks, but the results were statistically insignificiant. 6. HDL/cholesterol showed a tendency to increase aftre physical exercise of two weeks, but the results were statistically insignificiant.

  • High kilovoltage technique as compared with low kilovoltage in taking chest radiogram has much advantages. Authors performed an experiment by using acryl phantom to make the technical chart at 120KV and obtained the results as follows; 1. Increase and decrease of tube voltage in thickness change was 3.2KV per cm at variable technic chart. 2. At fixed kilovoltage technic chart, increase and decrease was $0.12{\sim}0.2$ mAs per cm in chest thickness. 3. Increase and decrease of distance was 1.3inches per cm in thicknese change

Difference of Nutrients Budgets in the Bohai Sea between 1982 and 1992 related to the Decrease of the Yellow River Discharge

  • Difference of Dissolved Inorganic Phosphorus (DIP), Dissolved Inorganic Nitrogen (DIN) and Dissolved Silicate (DSi) budgets in the Bohai Sea between 1982 and 1992 related the decrease of the Yellow River discharge is discussed on the basis of observed data. The estuarine circulation in the Bohai Sea had been weakened from 1982 to 1992 due to the decrease of the Yellow River discharge and the average residence time of fresh water had become longer. DIN concentration increased but DIP and DSi concentrations decreased from 1982 to 1992 in the Bohai Sea. Primary production was regulated mainly by water temperature and DIN concentration in 1982 but it was regulated mainly by DIP concentration in 1992. Primary production was larger than decomposition plus bottom release and nitrogen fixation was larger than denitrification in 1982. However, decomposition plus bottom release was larger than primary production and denitrification was larger than nitrogen fixation in 1992 in the Bohai Sea.

  • It is to show the problems of the existing techniques to estimate agricultural water demand and to suggest the new methods considering the water demand for non-irrigated area and decrease of water loss in canal. It is to suggest the methods to improve the techniques for estimating agricultural water demand and to analyze the water demand and supply according to the facilities capacity. Until now, the concept of per the unit used to estimate agriculture water demand is useful to estimate demand, but is insufficient to cope with the variations of conditions in future. And the paddy area of government is not realistic against a trend of decrease. Water demand decrease is caused by constructions of irrigation facilities as constructing of irrigation canal, but application loss ratio is fixed. Increase of the water demand owing to the increase of the yield per the unit area is also the actual condition which is not considered. The guide-line must contain these contents for a demand estimate.
