  • Counting statistics modified by introducing two dead times in series under a Poisson input distribution are discussed. A previous study examined the two cases of series combinations of nonextended-extended (NE-E) and extended-extended (EE) dead times. The present study investigated the remaining two cases of extended-nonextended (E-NE) and nonextended-nonextended (NE-NE) dead times. For the three time origins of the counting processes - ordinary, equilibrium, and shifted processes - a set of formulae was newly developed from a general formulation and presented for the event time interval densities, total densities, and exact mean and variance of the counts in a given counting duration. The asymptotic expressions for the mean and variance of the counts, which are most convenient for applications, were fully listed. The equilibrium mean count rates distorted by the three dead times in series were newly derived from the information obtained in these studies. An application of the derived formulae is briefly discussed.

  • In this paper, The modified dead-time compensator for plants with an integrator and long dead time is proposed. The design procedure takes account of the closed-loop performance and robustness. The tuning of the controller can be done using some information about the plant and its uncertainties. The proposed controller is compared to others recently presented in the literature. Some simulation results verify good closed-performance and robustness of the proposed DTC.

  • It is necessary to obtain the high performance of the inverter system that control the output current of inverters. The dead time causes detrimental effects to the control performance of the inverter system. So we need to compensate the dead time effects. And the dead time minimization switching method can be considered as the best way to avoid the dead time effects fundamentally. In this paper, a new dead time minimization switching strategy is proposed. According to the proposed method, very short dead time is adopted in only once when the current polarity is changing. And the adopted dead time is equal to the applied dead time or shorter than it. As the proposed method can be done with the porlarity information of the reference current. it is easy to avoid some problems in comparison with the case that the real current is used to get the polarity changing time; level detection difficulty, noise problem and so on.

  • Measuring occurrence times of random events, aimed to determine the statistical properties of the governing stochastic process, is a basic topic in science and engineering, and has been the subject of numerous mathematical modeling approaches. Often, true statistical properties deviate from measured properties due to the so called dead time phenomenon, where for a certain time period following detection, the detection system is not operational. Understanding the dead time effect is especially important in radiation measurements, often characterized by high count rates and a non-reducible detector dead time (originating in the physics of particle detection). The effect of dead time can be interpreted as a suitable rarefied sequence of the original time sequence. This paper provides a limit theorem for a high rate (diffusion-scale) counter with extendable (Type II) dead time, where the underlying counting process is a renewal process with finite second moment for the inter-event distribution. The results are very general, in the sense that they refer to a general inter arrival time and a random dead time with general distribution. Following the theoretical results, we will demonstrate the applicability of the results in three applications: serially connected components, multiplicity counting and measurements of aerosol spatial distribution.

  • Korea has a problem in treating unnatural dead bodies; law enforcement police officers have a difficulty in analyzing an accurate cause of a death, for they are not specialized in autopsy. But they must take charge of the affair at a spot for the first time. Sometimes this may give an indulgence to a killer. It results in generating an unjust victim. So, a police activity in response to an unnatural dead body must be improved surely. As a response to it, this thesis scrutinizes the unnatural dead body treatment under the Japanese police system, taking a continental law, which has a legal structure similar to our's, and on the basis of it presents a suggestion in response to an unnatural dead body by Korean police. First, the system on treating the unnatural dead body has to be severe. Second, police engaging in treating the unnatural dead body have to take the education on treating dead bodies more deeply. Third, implements on treating dead bodies have to be secured.

  • This experiment was carried out in order to know the decreasing causes of plant density and its relations with pasture productivity by the times of established pasture. The results were summarized as follows, 1. The yield components of dead plant can be used to estimate the changes of pasture productivity by the times of established pasture. 2 . The number of dead plants(PD) showed a quadraticalrelation with mean dry weight of dead plant $W/pl.)$ by the times of established pasture. 3. Relationship between relative number of tillers per dead plant to mean number of tillers of adjacent plants (RNT) and relative ratio of number of tillers per dead plant to number of tillers of plants in the 1st cutting (RNDT) showed highly positive significant correlation in 1 and 3 years old pasture. 4. Less than 100 of RNT were 79.5 %, 71.4 % and 100 % of dead plants in 1, 3 and 5, and 7 years old pasture, respectively. 5. Not exceeding values of RNDT to MRRNT were 89.7 %, 71.4 % and 100 % of dead plants in 1, 3 and 5, and 7 years old pasture. 6 . The values of 79.5 %, 57.2 % and 100 % of dead plants in 1, 3 and 5, and 7 years old pasture were not exceeding to MRRNT and less than 100 of RNT. 7. From the results described above, it was discussed that the relative number of tillers per dead plant(RNT) should be described not absolute deaeasing causes of plant density in 1 and 3 yars old pasture. But, the total number of dead plants in 5 and 7 years old pasture were absolutely influenced by RNT and MRRNT.

  • Baseline data on the type, species and volume for dead trees were collected from old growth fir (Abies holophylla) forest in Sorak National Park. Though the survey was restricted to fly forest, a basic data compatible to those in other countries were collected. Besides fir, dead trees were also found in deciduous species. All the Known dead tree types were found. Average volume of dead tree in the surveyed area was 00.42 $\textrm{m}^2 \; ha^{-1}$. There seems no correlation existing between the distributions of dead tree and coarse woody debris (CWD).

  • At the railway feeding system, a role of dead section is very important. Because, dead section is essential installation that AC feeding system meets DC feeding system or phase is changed between AC feeding systems. But, in dead section it is possible that an electric train meets interruption. In Korea, a study on the dead section isn't yet accomplished in depth. Accordingly. In this paper, when electric train is in dead-section power quality problem on electric train was dealt. Modeling and simulation using PSCAD/EMTDC was accomplished to analyze.

  • Dead-Time is necessary to prevent the shot circuit of the full bridge inverters in pulse width modulation. However the output voltage deviations is the result of the Dead-Time that decrease power from the out put voltage inverters. This paper presents the method that compensate power output voltage inverters loss in Dead-Time circuit for DC Motor Drives with full bridge voltage inverters. The compensation of Dead-Time method is a sample and a low-cost solution. The comparison between the test results and simulation by MATLAB&SIMULINK under the same condition is similar.

  • Recently PWM invertor is broadly used for control of induction motor. The invertor is able to generate sin wave current from high speed switching power device such as IGBT. However the invertor is disturbed by dead time inevitably needed to prevent a short of the DC link voltage, and the dead time mainly causes distortions of the output current. In this Paper the dead time compensation method which corrects the voltage error from dead time, and Min Max algorithm enlarging the operating voltage of PWM were Proposed. This method can be implemented by software programming without any additional hardware circuit. The proposed algorithms were implemented by DSP(TMS320C31, 40MHz) and FPGA(QL2007, Quick Logic) described in VHDL. and applied to 3 phase induction motor(2.2 KW) to show the superior performance
