  • There are lots of sampling design which is determined for sample survey in various fields. Especially, it is important problem for clinical data because basic characteristic variables by group which consist of experiment group and control group in population should be reflect to sample. Therefore, frequencies, center scales and dispersion scales of variables by group in population should be similar in sample. But usual sampling design is very complicate so it is difficult to use in practice for researcher. In this paper, we consider the sampling method using simulation. We applied the proposed method to colon cancer data from a hospital. We compare basic characteristic variables between population and sample with mean, frequency and statistic hypothesis test.

  • Purpose: Virtual reality is a unique technology to distribute data and demonstrates user's understanding towards complex products. The objective of this research is to investigate the impact of virtual reality on real world purchase intention of automotive cutting tools in Thailand's exhibitions. Hence, the research framework was constructed by telepresence, perception narrative, authenticity, trustworthiness, functional value, aesthetics, and purchase intention. Research design, data and methodology: Samples were collected from 500 visitors who participated in the selected top two metalworking exhibitions. Mix sampling approach is applied by using non-probability sampling methods of purposive or judgmental sampling, quota sampling, and convenience sampling method, respectively to reach target samples. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Model (SEM) were used to analyze and confirm goodness-of-fit of the model and hypothesis testing. Results: The results indicate that authenticity, functional value, and trustworthiness induced higher experiential value towards purchase intention. Those variables are stimulated by telepresence and perception narrative towards VR experience. Conclusions: Consumer's purchase intention towards VR experience on engineering cutting tools rely on consumer's sense of authenticity, trustworthiness, and functional value. Hence, marketing practitioners in automotive companies are encouraged to develop VR which focusing on significant factors to enhance consumers purchase intention.

  • Two phase sampling design is useful to increase estimation efficiency using deep stratification, improved non-response adjustment and reduced coverage bias. The same sampling units are commonly used for the first and the second phases in complex two-phase sampling design. In this paper we consider a sampling scheme where the first phase sampling units are clusters and the second phase sampling units are list samples. Using selected clusters in first phase requires that we list up elements in the selected clusters from the first phase and then use the list as a secondary sampling frame for the second phase sampling design. Then we select second phase samples from the listed sampling frame. We suggest an estimator based on the complex two-phase sampling design with different sampling units of each phase. Also the estimated variances of the estimator obtained by using classic and replication variance methods are considered and compared using simulation studies. For real data analysis, 2010 Korea Farm Household Economy Survey (KFHES) and 2011 Korea Agriculture Survey (KAS) are used.

  • Generally, SAW device, which uses Time Domain Sampling, requires high speed AD converter because SAW device (TDS) needs high sampling speed as much as its high data speed. However, the high price of AD converter discourages makers from using it. On the other hand, SAW device, which uses Frequency Domain Sampling, does not required high speed AD converter because SAW device (FDS) does not need high sampling speed. It is very efficient in price comparison to its performance because high processing speed of SAW device (FDS) can be implemented using low price Embedded Systems. The purpose of the thesis is to solve the issues above by designing and realizing SAW device (FDS) using SAW sensor for TDS.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose a method of designing a systematic panel survey at the institutional level to lay the foundation for data-based decision-making using vocational training teachers and instructors as the population. In this study, the target population and sampling frame, which are the main elements necessary for planning a panel survey, are proposed. Also based on expert advice and empirical data analysis, the sampling unit and sampling method taking into account the outer and inner variables are presented, comprehensively considering the representativeness of data, the efficiency and sustainability of data collection. As a result of the study, with the unit of the panel as a vocational training institution, a two-stage stratified proportional sampling plan is proposed so that the institution selected as the panel and the vocational training teachers and instructors belonging to the institution can participate in the survey. Based on this, implications for the panel survey sample design are presented.

  • Low power issue is one of the most critical problems in the Internet of Things (IoT), which are powered by battery. To solve this problem, various approaches have been presented so far. In this paper, we propose a method to reduce the power consumption by reducing the numbers of accesses into the flash memory consuming a large amount of power for on-chip software execution. Our approach is based on using cooperative logging structure to distribute the sampling overhead in single sensor node to adjacent nodes in case of rare-event applications. The proposed algorithm to identify event occurrence is newly introduced with negative feedback method by observing difference between past data and recent data coming from the sensor. When an event with need of flash access is determined, the proposed approach only allows access to write the sampled data in flash memory. The proposed event detection algorithm (EDA) result in 30% reduction of power consumption compared to the conventional flash write scheme for all cases of event. The sampled data from the sensor is first traced into the random access memory (RAM), and write access to the flash memory is delayed until the page buffer of the on-chip flash memory controller in the micro controller unit (MCU) is full of the numbers of the traced data, thereby reducing the frequency of accessing flash memory. This technique additionally reduces power consumption by 40% compared to flash-write all data. By sharing the sampling information via LoRa channel, the overhead in sampling data is distributed, to reduce the sampling load on each node, so that the 66% reduction of total power consumption is achieved in several IoT edge nodes by removing the sampling operation of duplicated data.

  • Currently, there is no definitive regulation for the appropriate frequency of data sampling in water distribution networks, yet it plays a crucial role in the efficient operation of these systems. This study proposes a new methodology for determining the optimal frequency of data acquisition in water distribution networks. Based on the decomposition of signals using harmonic series, this methodology has been validated using actual data from water distribution networks. By analyzing 12 types of data collected from two points, it was demonstrated that utilizing the factors and cumulative periodograms of harmonic series enables similar accuracy at lower data acquisition frequencies compared to the original signals. • In order to establish B. tabaci control in paprika greenhouses a fixed-precision-level sampling plan was developed. The sampling plan consisted of spatial distribution analysis, a sampling stop line, and decision making. Sampling was conducted simultaneously in two independent greenhouses (GH 1, GH 2). GH 1 and 2 were surveyed every week for 22 consecutive weeks, using 19 sampling locations in GH 1 and 9 sampling locations in GH 2. The plant in both greenhouses were divided into top (180-220 cm from the ground), middle (80-120 cm from the ground) and bottom (30-70 cm from the ground) sections and B. tabaci adults and pupae were observed on three paprika leaves at each position and recorded separately. GH 2 data were used to validate the fixed-precision sampling plan, which was developed using GH 1 data. In this study, spatial distribution analysis was performed using Taylor's power law with the pooled data of the top and bottom position (B. tabaci adults), and the middle and bottom positions (B. tabaci pupae), based on a 1-leaf sampling unit. Decision making was undertaken using the maximum of action threshold in accordance with previously published method, and the value was decided by the price of the plants. Using the results obtained in the greenhouse, simulated validation of the developed sampling plan by RVSP (Resampling Validation for Sampling Plan) indicated a reasonable level of precision.

  • A vision sensor measure range data using laser light source. This sensor generally use patterned laser which shaped single line. But this vision sensor cannot satisfy new trend which feeds foster and more precise processing. The sensor's sampling rate increases as reduced image processing time. However, the sampling rate can not over 30fps, because a camera has mechanical sampling limit. If we use multi line laser pattern, we will measure multi range data in one image. In the case of using same sampling rate camera, number of 2D range data profile in one second is directly proportional to laser line's number. For example, the vision sensor using 5 laser lines can sample 150 profiles per second in best condition.
