Process Evaluation for Reliability Insurance: An Industrial Case Study

  • In this paper, we calculate the premium rate of reliability insurance policy for brake pads for automobiles using real failure data obtained from use-condition. We try process capability analysis for the manufacturing process of brake-system. We describe the performance factors which have an effect on failure characteristics of brake pads. We also obtain the maximum likelihood estimates of shape and scale parameters of the fitted Weibull distribution for brake pads.

  • This paper presents the methodology for obtaining point and interval estimating of the parameters of a new two-parameter distribution with multiple-censored and singly censored data (Type-I censoring or Type-II censoring) as well as complete data, using the maximum likelihood method. The basis is the likelihood expression for multiple-censored data. Furthermore, this model can be extended to a three-parameter distribution that is added a scale parameter. Then, the parameter estimation can be obtained by the graphical estimation on probability plot.

Estimation of the Genetic Substitution Rate of Hanwoo and Holstein Cattle Using Whole Genome Sequencing Data

  • Despite the importance of mutation rate, some difficulties exist in estimating it. Next-generation sequencing (NGS) data yields large numbers of single-nucleotide polymorphisms, which can make it feasible to estimate substitution rates. The genetic substitution rates of Hanwoo and Holstein cattle were estimated using NGS data. Our main findings was to calculate the gene's substitution rates. Through estimation of genetic substitution rates, we found: diving region of altered substitution density exists. This region may indicate a boundary between protected and unprotected genes. The protected region is mainly associated with the gene ontology terms of regulatory genes. The genes that distinguish Hanwoo from Holstein in terms of substitution rate predominantly have gene ontology terms related to blood and circulatory system. This might imply that Hanwoo and Holstein evolved with dissimilar mutation rates and processes after domestication. The difference in meat quality between Hanwoo and Holstein could originate from differential evolution of the genes related to these blood and circulatory system ontology terms.

  • Mo-99(Molybdenum) is the only source of Tc-99m(Technetium) which is most frequently used in nuclear medical diagnostics and the demand is on the increase recently. Separation and refining of Mo-99 was investigated by adsorption and desorption on alumina. At pH=0.63, adsorption isotherm of Mo was fitted by Redlich & Peterson equation using the adsorption experimental data. It was found that the pore diffusion model ($D_p=1.4{\times}10^{-6}cm^2/s, K_f/=0.4 cm/s$) agreed well with batch adsorption experimental data. RTDs(Residence Time Distributions ) were measured and axial dispersion coefficients were obtained in the fixed bed absorber according to the changes of the flow rate using 0.05% -NaCl. From the adsorption experimental data, it was shown that the behavior of breakthroughs depended on flow rate. Mo recovery yield was increased as adsorption flow rate was increased and desorption flow rate was decreased.

  • 본 논문에서는 차세대 대용량 데이터 저장장치로 부각되고 있는 홀로그래픽 데이터 저장장치를 위한 2차원 변조코드를 제안한다. 단위 면적당 기록 밀도의 증가로 인한 인접 심볼간 간섭과 3차원적인 홀그래픽 저장으로 인한 페이지간 섭 등에 강인한 성능을 갖도록 같은 페이지 내의 1과 0의 개수가 거의 동일하도록 설계하였으며, 또 가능한 많은 1과 0의 천이가 일어나도록 설계하였다. 제안된 코드의 코드율은 5/9로서 기존의 4/9 코드보다 25%의 코드율 개선을 하였다.

  • In this paper, we quantitatively evaluated the anxiety data from humans in an anxiety state. It has been reported that the electric signals of human can be correlated with their emotional state. We chose heart rate, respiration rate, temperature and skin conductance as the anxiety parameters. For experiment protocol, the subject was given exercising load to induce the anxiety state and the exercise was done using the FITRON Cycle Ergometer. We divided the data into three stages: rest period, exercise period, and recovery period. During evaluation, We counted the heart rate, slope of heart rate, temperature change, and the skin conductance.

판별분석을 이용한 친환경 아파트의 마케팅 전략에 관한 연구 (A Study of Models for Marketing Strategy in the Eco-friendly Apartment Housing Using Discriminant Analysis)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyse the effects of the eco-friendly factors on the apartment housing price rise and to suggest the desirable way of marketing strategy for apartment housing. For the analysis, the data of apartment sites in Seoul had been collected from September 2006 to February 2007. The data consisted of 95 apartment sites in Seoul. Data were analyzed with descriptives, crosstabs, and discriminant analysis by SPSS/PC for Window. Following result was obtained. The eco-friendly apartment housing price rate in Seoul was determined by eco-friendly landscape, green space rate, house unit size, installment sale price per pyeong, floor space index, distance from subway station when it was not considered the impact of building age, construction company's brand, and autonomous districts. Findings of this research can provide valuable information for marketing strategy of housing construction company.

  • UT(Ultrasonic Test), one of the non-destructive tests, is the most common thickness measurement method for evaluating the wear rate in NPPs(Nuclear Power Plants). UT is used widely because it is easy and safe for use. However some amount of error inevitably occurs in attempting to measure the thickness. The error, that could make the thickness data thicker or thinner, may affect estimation of wear rate in pipes. NPPs are composed of a lot of pipes and components. Some of them are tested to check the current status during RFO(Re-Fueling Outage). Reliability analysis of UT is essential for evaluating pipe wear rate and establishing the long-term management plan in NPPs. This paper reviewed the cause of error occurrence and presented the UT data reliability analysis method. Also, this paper shows the application result of reliability analysis to the UT data acquired in NPPs.

대화형 GEO 위성 네트워크를 위한 우선권기반 동적 데이터 전송률 스케줄링 체계 (Prioritized Dynamic Rate Scheduling for Interactive GEO Satellite Networks)

  • In this paper, the return link of interactive GEO satellite network providing multimedia services is considered. First, we classify data by delay characteristics, and analyze the numbers of expected lost packets and expected delay packets for each data class of each terminal. Next we mathematically formulate optimal rate scheduling model to minimize the weighted sum of the numbers of expected lost packets and expected delay packets considering priority of each data class. We also suggest a dynamic rate scheduling scheme based on Lagrangean relaxation technique and subgradient technique to solve the proposed model in a fast time. Extensive experiments show that the proposed scheme provides encouraging results.

  • In this paper, forward error control coding in multicarrier direct sequence code division multiple access (DS/CDMA) systems is considered. In order to accommodate a number of coding rates easily and make the encoder and do-coder structure simple, we use the rate compatible punctured convolutional (RCPC) code. We obtain data throughputs at several coding rates and choose the coding rate which has the highest data throughput in the SINR sense. To achieve maximum data throughput, a rate adaptive system using channel state information (the SINR estimate) is proposed. The SINR estimate is obtain by the soft decision Viterbi decoding metric. We show that the proposed rate adaptive convolutionally coded multicarrier DS/CDMA system can enhance spectral efficiency and provide frequency diversity.
