  • Web GIS (Geographic Information Systems) service systems provide the various GIS services of analyzing and displaying the spatial data with friendly user-interface. These services are expanding the business domain and many users want to access the distributed various spatial data. But, it is difficult to access diverse data sources because of different spatial data format and data access methods. In this paper, we design and implement web GIS services based on the inter-operability and GML (Geography Markup Language) of OGC(Open GIS Consortium) in web distributed environment. Inter-operability provides unique accessing method to distributed data sources based on OLE DB technology of Microsoft. In addition, GML support web GIS services based on XML. We design these GIS services as components using UML (Unified Modeling Language) of an object-oriented modeling language for specifying, visualizing, constructing, and documenting the artifacts of software system. In addition, they also were developed in object-oriented computing environment, and it provides the interoperability, language-independent, easy developing environment as well as re-usability.

  • Shipbuilding is a complex industry which contains a lot of knowledge, technology, and utilities. Hence, the necessity of the PLM (Product Life-cycle Management) system which manages life-cycle information of marine product has been increased. So, many studies related to shipbuilding PLM have been preceded, and there are some cases to be built. To implement collaboration and concurrent engineering of ship designing and manufacturing, interoperability of product data in heterogeneous system is required. Also, sharing and reusing knowledge are important for innovation of business process and productivity of enterprises. Even though many studies related interoperability of product data are going on in varies domain, the application to shipbuilding is deficient. This paper proposes a methodology for management and interconnection of BOM data based on ontology in heterogeneous PLM system of shipbuilding. Using Prot$\'{e}$g$\'{e}$-OWL, we built simple domain ontology of shipbuilding industry, and then, we integrated product information of shipbuilding BOM which is represented with different ontologies. We verified possibility of integration of shipbuilding BOM in heterogeneous PLM, using ontology.

  • The 'National Research Data Platform' and the 'Bio Research Data Platform' were recently built and each is actively creating an ecosystem. It is built independently based on other metadata standards, which may cause future interoperability issues. The purpose of this study is to propose a basis for metadata interoperability between the two platforms. To this end, the metadata standards of each platform were analyzed, crosswork targets were selected and mapped, and the suitability of the mapped elements was verified through experts in the bio field. And more appropriate mapping elements were recommended to derive metadata elements for datasets and files. Through this, it was possible to confirm the possibility that the metadata of each platform could be semantically linked and the basis for securing interoperability.

  • Insulation and condensation performance evaluation (I&CPE) is an important energy analysis. While considerable amount of data are already represented in a Building Information Model (BIM), the lack of interoperability between BIM modeling and I&CPE programs prevents the simulation process from being efficient and accurate. This study proposes a prototype of a BIM-based I&CPE simulation program, in order to enhance the interoperability between BIM modeling and I&CPE programs. This study discusses the information flow process, defines the required information and its level of detail, develops standardized libraries, and finally proposes a prototype that consists of a data extraction module, conversion module, and performance module. The assurance of interoperability between systems might greatly benefit architects and energy professionals.

  • Due to the needs of design optimization and productivity for modernized Korean traditional house, standardization of Korean traditional building components is proceeding by BIM (Building Information Modeling). Currently, most of BIM software support object-based parametric modeling. By means of parameterized Korean traditional building components, the shape and assembly relation can be controlled. Although IFC(ISO/PAS 16739), which is an international standard in the AEC field, has been developed for information exchange among BIM software, IFC and other existing common data formats cannot be exchangeable parametric information. For the exchangeable parametric information within IFC, the authors defined meta-data by using Pset(Property-Set). The authors analyzed results about interoperability test in Revit $Architecture^{TM}$, $ArchiCAD^{TM}$ and Digital $Project^{TM}$. In order to solve found problems, the authors developed a translator to improve interoperability among BIM software.

  • Data synchronization between data stored in mobile communication terminals and data in a central server is one of essential tasks for efficient mobile communication environments. Since, however, manufacturers of mobile terminals have their proprietary data synchronization mechanisms, data interoperability can hardly be achieved. In this paper, an integrated data synchronization gateway based SyncML is designed and implemented. SyncML data synchronization is one of open standards proposed by OMA(Open Motile Alliance). In other words, by constructing a data synchronization gateway which can transform various proprietary data into SyncML data and vice versa, data interoperability between mobile terminals which use different data synchronization mechanisms can be achieved. With an integrated data synchronization gateway system implemented in this work, interoperability among WinCE-based ActiveSync data, PalmOs-based HotSync data and OMA SyncML data can be achieved.

  • The current domestic railway wireless communication networks transmit and receive data using several communication schemes such as VHF, TRS-ASTRO, and TRS-TETRA depending on the specific region. Recently, LTE scheme has been adopting in railway wireless communication systems to provide various services and increase reliability. It is critical to support the network interoperability between the existing communication schemes and new communication scheme for seamless data transmission. In this paper, we propose two interoperability schemes in railway communications networks, i.e., network oriented scheme and terminal oriented scheme. We consider the operation scenario for each scheme and compare two interoperability schemes. The practical implementation issues are also discussed based on suggested schemes.

  • This study analyzed the current condition of authority control, introduced the MADS(Metadata Authority Description Schema) for authority data. MADS supports encoding an authority description for a agent(person, organization), event, term(topic, temporal entity, genre, geographic entity, hierarchical geographic entity, occupation) and defines main elements, subelements, and attributes using the XML schema language. Lastly, using the MADS's characteristics, this study proposed the effective use plans of interoperability of authority data.

  • As the structure of an enterprise becomes complicated and distributed, the interoperability between workflow systems for the process automation among partners or departments is rising as an important issue. For the interoperability between workflow systems, we propose a data exchange scenario based on mobile agents. The scenario includes sequence diagrams and methods defined by UML. The mobile agents are designed based on the mobile agent standard, MASIF, developed by OMG. In order to prove the applicability of the mobile agent technology to workflow interoperability, we have developed a prototype function which creates and transfers mobile agents.

  • Information sharing is the main purpose of realizing interoperability between the application domains of Geographic Information System (GIS) and Building Information Modeling (BIM). This paper presents and describes the workflow of BIM-GIS interoperability for highway traffic information sharing. An innovative and automatic Dynamo process was presented to transfer the shapes and attributes of the shapefile from GIS to BIM. On the basis of the transformed BIM model, the detailed traffic data was added and expressed in the form of families and sheets to expand traffic information. Then, the shapes of the model were swept as solid geometries in the BIM environment applying Dynamo. The expanded BIM model was transferred back to the GIS system using the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) scheme. The mutual communication between BIM and GIS was achieved based on Dynamo and IFC. This paper provides a convenient and feasible way to realize BIM-GIS interoperability for highway traffic information sharing according to the characteristics of highways in terms of graphic expression and model creation.
