Operational Availability Analysis of KOMPSAT TTC System (KOMPSAT 관제시스템의 운용가용도 분석)

  • The KOMPSAT system incorporates multiple missions designed to provide various applications in the field of Korean peninsula observation covering land, sea and coastal zones. The missions are Korea cartography (1:25,000 scale maps of the Korean peninsula), biological oceanography and science instrument accommodation. The operational availability of KOMPSAT TTC system should be predicted more accurately because its failure has a significant influence on satellite command and tracking and on satellite data collection. In this paper, system availability structure of KOMPSAT TTC system are made and availability of KOMPSAT TTC system is analyzed aspect to the system operation in accordance with logistic condition.

  • The method of assessing drug availability has been the subject of much concern and the equation is presented to estimate the drug availability of dosage forms and to calculate the desirable rates of drug absorption in a model. $Xmax/X_0=(k_1/k_2)^{{\frac{1}{1-^-k_1/k_2}}}$ To facilitate the calculations involved in the equation, a program in Fortran with Format was used in the IBM 1130 digital computer system. Using availability, $Xmax/X_0$, and the given rates of elimination from the blood, the desirable rates of drug absorption in the model were calculated and shown in detail. Applicabiliy of the equation to estimate the drug availability of dosage forms in the model was demonstrated with different sets of data from the literatures.

  • After clarifying the underlying problems in a secure network storage, we introduce two important requirements, leakageresilience and availability in higher levels respectively, for data keys that are used to protect remotely-stored data. As a main contribution of this paper, we give a new security layer for overlay networks by proposing a leakage-resilient authentication and data management system. In this system, we specifically propose a single mode and a cluster mode where the latter provides a higher level of both leakage-resilience and availability for the data key.

  • Cloud Computing Service should support efficiency and stability. United States of America, for example, provides FedRAMP (Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program) accreditation to certify cloud computing service and hence growth of computing service industry is giving benefits of cost reduction and efficiency to companies. However, the use of computing service brings more risk than ever. Because cloud computing holds all the data of multiple companies, problems such as hacking bring out control loss of service and as a result total data of companies can be lost. Unfortunately, cloud computing certification programs do not have any good solutions for this data loss and companies may lose all the important data without any proper data backup. This paper studies such problems in terms of backup problem and provides Data Availability Zone solution for recovery and safe saving of data so that computing service can offer better efficiency and stability.

Mother-Child Emotional Availability and Preschooler's preschool adjustment: - Mediating effect of preschooler's effortful control (어머니-유아의 정서적 가용성과 유아의 유아교육기관 적응 - 유아 의도적 통제의 매개효과 검증)

  • The purposes of this study were to explore the effect of mother-child emotional availability on preschooler's preschool adjustment and mediating effect of preschooler's effortful control on the relationship between mother child emotional availability and preschooler's preschool adjustment. 222 preschoolers(110 boys, 112 girls, aged 5) and their mothers participated in this study. Mother child emotional availability was assessed by Emotional Availability Scale(Biringen, et al., 1998). Preschooler's effortful control was measured by the Child Behavior Questionnaire(Rothbart, et al., 1994). Preschooler's school adjustment was measured by Teacher Rating Scale of School Adjustment: TRSSA(Buhs & Ladd, 2001). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlations, and structural equation modeling analysis. The major results of this study were as follows; First, Mother-child emotional availability effected on preschooler's preschool adjustment. Second, Mother-child emotional availability effected on preschooler's effortful control. Third, Preschooler's effortful control effected on preschooler's preschool adjustment. Forth, preschooler's effortful control mediated the effect of mother-child emotional availability on preschooler's preschool adjustment. That was, the more mother-child were emotionally available to each other, the more preschooler's effortfully control their attention and behavior, which in turn contributed to preschooler's preschool adjustment. In conclusion, mother-child emotional availability affect on preschooler's preschool adjustment and preschoolers control mediates the relationship between mother-child emotional availability and preschool adjustment.

Reliability Analysis of Multi-Component System Considering Preventive Maintenance: Application of Markov Chain Model (예방정비를 고려한 복수 부품 시스템의 신뢰성 분석: 마코프 체인 모형의 응용)

  • Purpose: We introduce ways to employ Markov chain model to evaluate the effect of preventive maintenance process. While the preventive maintenance process decreases the failure rate of each subsystems, it increases the downtime of the system because the system can not work during the maintenance process. The goal of this paper is to introduce ways to analyze this trade-off. Methods: Markov chain models are employed. We derive the availability of the system consisting of N repairable subsystems by the methods under various maintenance policies. Results: To validate our methods, we apply our models to the real maintenance data reports of military truck. The error between the model and the data was about 1%. Conclusion: The models developed in this paper fit real data well. These techniques can be applied to calculate the availability under various preventive maintenance policies.

  • A satellite ground control system (SGCS) which monitors and controls a geostationary satellite 24 hours a day has to achieve the system architecture assuring high-level availability and redundancy scheme. The SGCS for Communication, Ocean, and Meteorological Satellite (COMS) is currently being developed in Korea, which will be implemented to satisfy high availability (HA), expansibility, and compatibility in design. In order to implement the system architecture to meet these characteristics, the SGCS for COMS introduces the concept of the real-time distributed system structure based on redundancy scheme for high availability, data replication and sharing, and CORBA middleware.

  • This paper addresses the problem of determining the optimal number of spares for a system consisting of multi-item parts. In commercial sector, the cost minimization is mainly considered as an objective functions in most inventory models. However, in the military inventory systems, it is more stressed on maximizing the system availability than minimizing the system cost because the field commander always wants the system to be in perfect working condition to prepare against an emergence case. In this point of view, this paper develops an inventory model which decides the optimal number of spares by minimizing units short and simultaneously achieving a certain level of system availability. Solution algorithms are derived using the generalized Lagrange multiplier approach and marginal analysis approach. Sample data and output results are provided and sensitivity analysis is performed as the level of system availability changes in order to decide the optimal number of spares and availability in terms of economic sense.

  • Purpose: This paper presents an application of Markov Process to reliability and availability analysis. In order to do that of analysis, we set up a specific case of Tablet PC and it's usage scenario. The case has it some spares and maintenance and repair processes. Methods: Different configurations of the tablet PC and as well as their functions are defined. The system configuration and calculated failure rates of components are modeled from Windchill Quality Solution. Two models, without a spare and with spare, are created and compared using Markov Process. The Matlab numerical analysis is used to simulate and show the change of state with time. Availability of the system is computed by determining the time the system stays in different states. Results: The mission availability and steady-state condition availability in accordance with the mission are compared and the availability of the system with spares have improved availability than without spares. Simulated data shows that downtime of the system increased which results in greater availability through the consideration of spares. Conclusion: There's many techniques and methods to do reliability and availability analysis and mostly are time-independent assumptions. But Markov Process, even though its steady-state and ergodic properties, can do time analysis any given time periods.

  • Supporting the availability, integrity, and confidentiality of the information is crucial. The survivability storage systems require to encode and distribute data over multiple storage nodes or data base to survive failures and malicious attacks Information dispersal scheme is one of the most efficient schemes allowing high availability and security with reasonable overhead. In this paper, we propose an algorithm determining the optimal (m, n)-lDS in terms of availability, given a set of IDS's. The proposed algorithm will be very useful for designing a highly available and secure storage system since many factors such as node number, storage space, operation speed, etc. interact with each other and thereby finding an optimal information dispersal scheme is very difficult.
