  • The use of mobile agents for collaborative processing in wireless sensor network has gained considerable attention. This is when mobile agents are used for data aggregation to exploit redundant and correlated data. The efficiency of agent-based data aggregation depends on the agent migration scheme. However, in general, most of the proposed schemes are centralized approach-based schemes where the sink node determines the migration paths for the agents before dispatching them in the sensor network. The main limitations with such schemes are that they need global network topology information for deriving the migration paths of the agents, which incurs additional communication overhead, since each node has a very limited communication range. In addition, a centralized approach does not provide fault tolerant and adaptive migration paths. In order to solve such problems, we have proposed a distributed approach-based scheme for determining the migration path of the agents where at each hop, the local information is used to decide the migration of the agents. In addition, we also propose a local repair mechanism for dealing with the faulty nodes. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme performs better than existing schemes in the presence of faulty nodes within the networks, and manages to report the aggregated data to the sink faster.

  • The emerging energy harvesting technology, which has been successfully integrated into Wireless Sensor Networks, enables sensor batteries to be charged using renewable energy sources. In the meantime, the problem of Minimum Latency Aggregation Scheduling (MLAS) in battery-powered WSNs has been well studied. However, because sensors have limited energy harvesting capabilities, captured energy is limited and varies greatly between nodes. As a result, all previous MLAS algorithms are incompatible with Battery-Free Wireless Sensor Networks (BF-WSNs). We investigate the MLAS problem in BF-WSNs in this paper. To make the best use of the harvested energy, we build an aggregation tree that leverages the energy harvesting rates of the sensor nodes with an intuitive explanation. The aggregation tree, which determines sender-receiver pairs for data transmission, is one of the two important phases to obtain a low data aggregation latency in the BF-WSNs.

  • Moving object management is widely used in traffic, logistic and data mining applications in ubiquitous environments. It is required to analyze spatio-temporal data and trajectories for moving object management. In this paper, we proposed a novel index structure for spatio-temporal aggregation of trajectory in a constrained network, named aCN-RB-tree. It manages aggregation values of trajectories using a constraint network-based index and it also supports direction of trajectory. An aCN-RB-tree consists of an aR-tree in its center and an extended B-tree. In this structure, an aR-tree is similar to a Min/Max R-tree, which stores the child nodes' max aggregation value in the parent node. Also, the proposed index structure is based on a constrained network structure such as a FNR-tree, so that it can decrease the dead space of index nodes. Each leaf node of an aR-tree has an extended B-tree which can store timestamp-based aggregation values. As it considers the direction of trajectory, the extended B-tree has a structure with direction. So this kind of aCN-RB-tree index can support efficient search for trajectory and traffic zone. The aCN-RB-tree can find a moving object trajectory in a given time interval efficiently. It can support traffic management systems and mining systems in ubiquitous environments.

  • IEEE 802.11n supports two frame aggregation schemes, aggregation for MAC service data unit (A-MSDU) and aggregation for MAC protocol data unit (A-MPDU), to improve throughput at the MAC layer. In this paper, we propose a cooperative frame aggregation (CoFA), which can recover erroneous frames in a cooperative manner based on A-MPDU. Specifically, CoFA receive multiple frames from direct and relay paths, and combined multiple frames jointly. Numerical results show that CoFA outperforms direct transmission and relay transmission over diverse channel conditions.

  • The spatial aggregation of data, in transportation and other planning processes, is an important theoretical consideration because the results of any analysis are not entirely independent of the delineation of zones. Moreover, using a different spatial aggregation may lead to different, and sometimes contradictory conclusions. Two criteria have been considered as important in designing zone systems. They are scale and aggregation. The scale problem arises because of uncertainty about the number of zones needed for a study and the aggregation problem arises because of uncertainty about how the data are to be aggregated to from a given scale problem. In a transportation study, especially in the design of traffic analysis zone(TAZ), the scale problem is directly related to the number dof zones and the aggregation problem involves spatial clustering, meeting the general requirements of forming the zones system such as equal traffic generation, convexity, and the consistency with the political boundary. In this study, first, the comparative study of delineating spatial units has been given. Second, a FORTRAN-based heuristic algorithm for designing TAZ based on socio-economic data has been developed and applied to the Korean peninsula containing 132 micro parcels. The vector type ARC/INFO GIS topological data mosel has been used to provise the adjacency information between parcels. The results, however, leave some to be desired in order to overcome such problems as non-convexity of the agglomerated TAZ system and/or uneven traffic phenomenon for each TAZ.

  • Temporal databases manage time-evolving data. They provide built-in supports for efficient recording and querying of temporal data. The temporal aggregate in temporal databases is an extension of the conventional aggregate to include time concept on the domain and range of aggregation. This paper focuses on multidimensional temporal aggregation. In a multidimensional temporal aggregate, we use one or more general attributes as well as a time attribute on the range of aggregation, thus it is a useful operation for historical data warehouse, Call Data Records(CDR), etc. In this paper, we propose a structure for multidimensional temporal aggregation, called PTA-tree, and an aggregate processing method based on the PTA-tree. Through analyses and performance experiments, we also compare the PTA-tree with the simple extension of SB-tree that was proposed for temporal aggregation.

  • Stream data is a continuous flow of information that mostly arrives as the form of an infinite rapid stream. Recently researchers show a great deal of interests in analyzing such data to obtain value added information. Here, we propose an efficient cube computation algorithm for multidimensional analysis of stream data. The fact that stream data arrives in an unsorted fashion and aggregation results can only be obtained after the last data item has been read. cube computation requires a tremendous amount of memory. In order to resolve such difficulties, we compute user selected aggregation fables only, and use a combination of an way and AVL trees as a temporary storage for aggregation tables. The proposed cube computation algorithm works even when main memory is not large enough to store all the aggregation tables during the computation. We showed that the proposed algorithm is practically fast enough by theoretical analysis and performance evaluation.

  • As VANET(Vehicular Ad-hoc NETwork) improves road safety, efficiency, and comfort, and provides a value-added service such as commerce information or internet access. it is the most important technology in ITS(Intelligent Transportation System). But, In VANETs, better communication efficiency can be achieved by sacrificing security and vice versa. VANETs cannot get started without either of them. Therefore, to solve these problems simultaneously, this paper proposes MAC(Message Authentication Code) based SDAP(Secure Data Aggregation Protocol) which removes redundant data or abnormal data between vehicles and verifies the integrity of message. The MAC based SDAP not only improves the efficiency of data delivery but also enhances the security by detecting malicious attacks such as propagation jamming attack, forgery attack, and disguised attack.

  • In underwater wireless sensor networks, sensing data such temperature and salinity can be merged by averaging them. Data aggregation is a good choice to reduce the amount of packets and save energy in underwater wireless sensor networks. However, data aggregation could bring about packet delay and non-directional transmission to the sink. In this paper, we propose a new path building algorithm based on data aggregation to mitigate these problems. The paper reduces the delay without wireless interferences and maximizes the energy efficiency by removing the non-directional transmission to the sink. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms in terms of the energy efficiency and the packet delay.

  • This paper suggests MPLS restoration method that use an aggregation tree. For the restoration of the MPLS network, this paper presents a scheme that reconstruct multiple path through aggregation tree that grow from many node to a target node. Contrary to a multicast tree where a message that send at one node is passed to a group of node, an aggregation tree is a tree that data is passed from many node to one destination node. Through an experiment we confirmed that the restoration scheme that uses aggregation tree shows taster speed comparing with the existing other restoration scheme.
