Static and dynamic behaviour of square plates with inhomogeneity subjected to non-uniform edge loading (compression and tension)

  • The tension and compression buckling behaviour of a square plate with localized zones of damage and subjected to non-uniform loading is studied using a finite element analysis. The influence of parameters such as position of damage, extent of damage, size of damage and position of load on instability behaviour are discussed. The dynamic behaviour for certain load and damage parameters are also presented. It is observed that the presence of damage has a marked effect on the static buckling load and natural frequency of the plate.

표면파의 음향비선형 특성을 이용한 표면 피로열화 평가 (Evaluation of Surface Fatigue Degradation Using Acoustic Nonlinearity of Surface Wave)

  • 이 논문은 표면파의 비선형특성을 이용하여 재료 표면의 열화손상을 평가한 사례 연구의 결과를 보고한다. 이 연구에서는 3점 굽힘 피로시험에 의해 표면에 피로열화를 가한 알루미늄 T6 시편을 대상으로 표면파의 음향 비선형 파라미터를 측정하기 위한 실험장치를 구성하였으며, 피로시험 전후에서 측정된 비선형파라미터의 크기를 비교하였다. 특히 3점 굽힘 피로시험에 의한 표면피로손상은 시편의 중앙부 표면에 집중 될 것이 예상되므로 이 주변에서의 비선형 파라미터의 변화를 세밀히 관찰하였다. 실험결과 피로손상이 거의 없는 시편의 가장자리에서는 비선형 파라미터가 피로시험 전후에서 큰 변화가 없었지만, 표면 피로열화가 집중된 중앙부에서는 뚜렷하게 증가하는 것으로 나타났다.

Study on Levee Visual Inspection Information System Building Using Mobile Technology

  • In this paper, we propose the mobile visual inspection information system using DGPS and portable range finder for levee safety inspection. Instead of existing visual inspection management method that is stored hand-written data, this system is designed to manage directly the visual inspection information using mobile devices in the field of levee. And through extracting accurate DGPS coordinates information about damage location of levee, this system is developed to ensure efficiency for the main task arising from the levee site such as inspection, maintenance and reinforcement. Furthermore, when damage has occurred at the point that inspector is not able to approach, this system can record the damage site data correctly, by converting data such as position, orientation and height of the damage point into the World Geodetic System coordinates. The position, orientation and height data was extracted automatically through the DGPS and portable range finder. And by applying the augmented reality method, this system was implemented for inspector to revisit the point of damage easily in order to perform the management, maintenance and reinforcement of the levee later.

부유체 대표 평균 위치를 적용한 계류 라인의 시간 영역 피로 해석 효율화에 대한 연구 (Study on Efficient Time Domain Fatigue Analysis of Mooring Chain by Representative Mean Position)

  • This paper addresses the concept of the representative mean position, which was devised to improve the numerical efficiency of a time domain fatigue analysis of a mooring chain. To investigate the influence of an artificial offset of the floater on the fatigue of the mooring chain, a parametric study was performed on the moored FPSO under various combinations of offsets and environmental conditions. Tension time histories were calculated using the de-coupled analysis method, and fatigue damages were calculated to determine the influence of the offset. The parametric study was extended to a more realistic case to determine the actual effect of the representative mean position, where a comparison was made between the two different analysis results, one using the representative mean position and the other one using the actual mean position. It was confirmed that the application of the representative mean position guaranteed the conservatism of the fatigue damage with the enhanced numerical efficiency in the time domain fatigue analysis.

  • This study introduces a method of estimating the 3D coordinates of structural damage from the detection results of visual inspection provided in 2D image coordinates using sensing data of UAV and 3D shape information of BIM. This estimation process takes place in a virtual space and utilizes the BIM model, so it is possible to immediately identify which member of the structure the estimated location corresponds to. Difference from conventional structural damage localization methods that require 3D scanning or additional sensor attachment, it is a method that can be applied locally and rapidly. Measurement accuracy was calculated through the distance difference between the measured position measured by TLS (Terrestrial Laser Scanner) and the estimated position calculated by the method proposed in this study, which can determine the applicability of this study and the direction of future research.

  • 본 논문에서는 반사된 면적 결과와 반사된 위치 결과를 중첩하고, 가시화된 이미지에서 픽셀의 최대값에 대한 비율로 윤곽선을 추출하여 손상 크기를 추정하는 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 반사된 신호의 면적을 구하기 위해서 누적함수 특성벡터 알고리즘을 사용하였고, 반사된 신호의 위치를 구하기 위해서 신호 상관관계를 이용해서 측정신호로부터 손상 신호를 분리하였다. 그리고 제안한 손상크기 추정 알고리즘을 복합재 평판에서 실험 수행하여 검증하였다. 임의의 위치에서 반복 실험을 수행해서 제안된 알고리즘이 반복에 따른 재현성이 있음을 검증하였고, 손상크기 변화에 따라 손상 크기를 추정하고 분별할 수 있음을 검증하였다.

임도 횡단배수구의 유출구 피해 예측에 관한 연구 (A Study on Outlet Damage Prediction of Pipe Culverts in Forest Road)

  • 본 연구는 강원대학교 학술림 임도를 대상으로 횡단배수구의 유출구 피해 유무에 영향을 미치고 있는 총 10개 인자를 조사하여 피해특성을 파악하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 임도횡단배수구 피해유무에 영향을 미치지 않은 인자는 배수구의 종단위치, 횡단위치, 토질 및 관암거 높이이며, 피해영향에 관련된 인자는 유출구 위치, 도수로 유무, 관암거 직경, 관암거 경사, 집수정 크기 등의 순으로 영향을 미치고 있다. 또한 이들 인자를 이용하여 임도횡단배수구 유출구 피해유무 예측을 위한 판별함수식을 도출하였으며, 판별적중률은 68.8%로 산출되었다.

Numerical modeless of the damage, around inclusion in the orthopedic cement PMMA

  • In orthopedic surgery and more especially in total arthroplastie of hip, the fixing of the implants generally takes place essentially by means of constituted surgical polymer cement. The damage of this materiel led to the fatal rupture and thus loosening of the prosthesis in total hip, the effect of over loading as the case of tripping of the patient during walking is one of the parameters that led to the damage of this binder. From this phenomenon we supposed that a remain of bone is included in the cement implantation. The object of this work is to study the effect of this bony inclusion in the zones where the outside conditions (loads and geometric shapes) can provoke the fracture of the cement and therefore the aseptic lousing of the prosthesis. In this study it was assumed the presence of two bones -type inclusions in this material, one after we analyzed the effect of interaction between these two inclusions damage of damage to this material. One have modeled the damage in the cement around this bone inclusion and estimate the crack length from the damaged cement zone in the acetabulum using the finite element method, for every position of the implant under the extreme effort undergone by the prosthesis. We noted that the most intense stress position is around the sharp corner of the bone fragment and the higher level of damage leads directly the fracture of the total prosthesis of the hip.

  • 배관에 가해지는 충격을 실시간으로 모니터링하고, 충격위치를 산출 할 수 있는 모니터링 시스템을 무선데이타 통신을 이용하여 개발하였고, 마산만 해저배관에 현장적용 후 충격실험을 통하여 유용성을 검증하였다. 실험에 사용된 배관은 총 길이 1365m, 운용압력 8.6kgf/cm^2$$, 직경 12inch인 실제 운용중인 해저가스배관을 사용하였다. 충격실험에서 충격위치 계산오차는 배관내에서 충격음파 속도의 $1\%$정도의 거리였다.

Identification of Damage on a Substructure with Measured Frequency Response Functions

  • Recently the authors tried to find damage position only using measured frequency response functions. According to their work, it seems that the algorithm is very practical since it needs only measured frequency responses while other methods require exact analytic model. But when applying the method to a real structure, it requires lots of experiment. The authors, in this time, propose a method to reduce its experimental load by detecting damage within a substructure. This method searches damages not within an entire structure but within substructures. In addition, damage severity was treated in this paper since it is worthy to know damage severity. Optimization technique is used to estimate damage level using measured responses and damage model. Two test examples, a plate and a jointed structure, are chosen to verify the suggesting method.
