Framework for Estimating Appropriate Construction Duration of CFRD in the Planning Phase

  • To secure quality of dam construction needs appropriate construction duration. Tight construction schedule may have negative influence on infrastructure quality, work safety and maintenance cost. It is necessary to reflect proper construction duration in the planning phase. There have been standards for estimating construction duration of building and industrial complex development but dam construction have not. In order to estimate construction duration of CFRD, feasible study reports and design reports were analyzed to acquire available information. After that, considering on construction duration methods such as comparison with similar cases, approximate estimating formula, approximate quantity assumption were adapted to Critical Path items. Hence, this study present framework for construction duration estimating of CFRD in the planning phase. This framework can be applied other types of dam along the same line.

영향요인을 고려한 댐 용수공급능력 추정 회귀모형 (Multiple Regression Equations for Estimating Water Supply Capacities of Dams Considering Influencing Factors)

  • 본 연구에서는 댐 용수공급능력에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 요인분석 통계기법을 사용하여 추출하였으며, 그 결과를 이용하여 댐 용수공급능력 추정을 위한 다중회귀모형을 개발하였다. 21개 다목적댐과 12개 생공용수전용댐을 대상으로 하였으며, 다목적댐과 생공용수전용댐으로 구분하여 요인분석을 수행하였다. 댐 용수공급능력에 영향을 미치는 변수로 유역면적, 유입량, 유효저수량, 생공용수량 등급, 농업용수량 등급, 하천유지유량 등급, 하천관리 등급, 평균강우량 등급을 선정하였다. 변수들의 상관계수 행렬점검, Bartlett의 구형성 점검, KMO 표본적합도 점검을 실시하여 변수들의 요인분석에 대한 적합성을 확인하였다. 변수들은 다목적댐의 경우 3개 요인, 생공용수전용댐의 경우 2개 요인으로 분류되었으며, 요인들을 Varimax법을 사용하여 회전시켰다. 요인분석 결과는 댐 용수공급능력에 영향을 미치는 변수들이 합리적으로 선정되었고, 이들이 요인으로 적절하게 분류되었음을 보여주었다. 요인점수를 설명변수로 사용하여 연간용수공급량을 추정할 수 있는 다중회귀모형을 개발하였으며, 개발된 모형의 정확성을 평가하고 적용방법을 제시하였다. 결론적으로 댐 용수공급능력에 영향을 미치는 것으로 파악된 변수 및 요인은 댐 계획 및 설계에 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

EARTH DAM의 비탈면 기울기 결정에 관한 연구 (A Study on Side Slope Determination of Earth Dam)

  • The soil test data of 28 earth dams, scheduled to be constructed in Kore3, were selected for this study. The safety factors of their side slops were computed using Fellenius' "slice Method" by computer. The results summarized in this study are as follows; 1. Dam sections can be easily determined by fig.10 without a time consuming trial and error calculations of assumed sections. 2. For the economical design of earth dam sections, it was found that more cohesive soil was suitable for lower dams(dam height less than 25m) and soils with a higher friction angle was better for higher dams 3. In the case that used soil materials have the same Internal friction angle, side slope increase was almost same. 4. The relationship between side slope and friction angle was found as log.S=a tan ø+b (Fig. 7) 5. The relationship between side slope and cohesion (c) was also found as log. S=a c+b (Fig. 8) 6. The change of safety factors due to the change of central core materials was very little (Table-2) 7. The decrease of safety factors according to the unit weight increase of embankment materials was negligible. 8. In general the relationship between the wet unit weight and the saturated unit weight was r sat = (rt)$^2$+0. 140. This study will contribute to the determination of economic and safe planning and designing of earth dams, embankments and cutting side slopes.

SHIHMEN SEDIMENT PREVENTION DIVERSION TUNNEL PLANNING AND DESIGN

  • Shihmen reservoir was started in May 1963. The main purposes of Shihmen reservoir are for agriculture, power supply, flood control and tourism. Shihme Asn dam is an earth dam. Its crown height is 133m above mean sea level, with length 360 m, watershed 763.4 km2, and maximum volume 309 million cms. Turbidity in Shihmen dam was severely affected by typhoons Aere (2004) and Masa (2005). Increased deposition after Aere was 28 million cms. Turbidity at Shihmen Canal Inlet is 3000 NTU (Nephelometry Turbidity Unit). Sediment sluicing strategies for downstream channel are demanded. Therefore, diversionary sediment preventing channel is planned in the upstream of Shihmen reservoir. Finally, turbid flow in tunnel channel is bypassed and diverted its flow down to downstream.

보장 공급량 분석에 의한 댐의 물 공급 안전도 평가기법 연구 (An Evaluation Method of Water Supply Reliability for a Dam by Firm Yield Analysis)

  • 확률론적 신뢰도를 이용하여 댐의 물 공급 안전도를 정의하였다. 그리고 장기 보장 공급량의 안전도 분석에 의한 댐의 물 공급 안전도 평가 절차를 제시하였고, 소양강댐과 충주댐의 물 공급 안전도를 평가하였다. 물 공급 안전도의 평가에 펼요한 41 개의 월 유출 시계열은 SAMS-2000으로 모의 발생시켰다. 보장 공급량 결정을 위한 저수지 모의운영에는 HEC-5모형이 사용되었다. 50년 계획 기간에 대하여 설계 유출자료에 의한 소양강댐 보장 공급량의 물 공급 안전도는 80.5 %로 평가되었고, 준공 후 기록 유입량에 의한 보장 공급량의 물 공급 안전도는 53.7 %였다. 그리고 설계 유입량 자료의 보장 공급량은 14.91억 $m^3$/yr이었고, 기록 유입량 자료의 보장 공급량은 15.85억 $m^3$/yr으로 분석되었다. 기록 유입량 자료의 보장 공급량을 목표 공급량으로 하면 연간 0.94억 $m^3$의 용수를 추가 공급할 수 있다. 동일한 절차로부터, 충주댐의 설계 유출자료에 의한 보장 공급량은 33.77억 $m^3$/yr이었고, 기록 유입량에 의한 보장 공급량은 29.60억 $m^3$/yr으로 평가되었다. 충주댐의 설계 유출자료에 의한 보장 공급량을 목표 공급량으로 하였을 때, 모든 모의 발생 시계열에 대하여 물 공급 부족이 발생하였다. 충주댐의 설계 당시 봄철 유입량의 과대평가가 그 원인일 수 있다. 제안된 절차를 적용하면 보다 객관적으로 댐의 물 공급 안전도를 평가할 수 있다.

방조제의 설계를 위한 태풍의 분석 (Analysis of Typhoon for Design of Sea-Dike)

  • The safety of shore structure including the sea dipe is largely affected by typhoon. Accordingly it is desirable to analize the typhoon and determine the wind direction and velocity for use in planning and design of the structure. This method was adopted for the design of the Yong San Gang Estuary Dam. A comparative study of the results of typhoon analysis with the meteorological data obtained through actual observation is summarized as follows; (1) 62% of the typhoons occur during May to June in a year, and 62% of the typhoons which have an influence on the Korean peninsula, especially the proposed estuary dam fsite, proceed eastward through the zone in lat. 36$^{\circ}$-37$^{\circ}$N. Such typhoons occur two to three times a year on the average. (2) Data on typhoon "SARL" were used as a model case in designing the estuary dam, where it was proved that a southwesterly wind had a maximum velocity of 30m/sec in case r=150km, ${\alpha}$=120$^{\circ}$. Within the range of 22$^{\circ}$30'on the right and left side of the fetch line of the estuary dam, the wind direction varied SSW\longrightarrowSW\longrightarrowWSW, and the wind velocity varied 29m/sec\longrightarrow30m/sec\longrightarrow125m/sec. Such phenomemum lasted for five hours. (3) An analysis of data obtained during 44 years at Mok Po Meteorological Station shows that a wind with a velocity of some 25m/sec occurred twelve times in the S-direction and two times in the SW-direction, while that with a velocity of 30m/sec occurred three times in the S-direction, three times in the SSW-direction and one time in the SW-direction. The wind which had an influence on the estuary dam had a direction of SSW\longrightarrowSW\longrightarrowWSW and a velocity of min. 30m/sec. Actually, a wind with a max. velocity of 31.3m/sec occurred in the SSW-direction on March 15 and 16, 1956 where the mean velocity during two hours was 28m/sec and that during four hours was 24.6m/sec. (4) The data obtained through actual observation show that when the velocity is low, the wind with a fixed direction lasts long, and when the velocity is high, it is short-lived. It is difficult to determine the velocity of a wind which blows in a fixed direction for consecutive two or four hours. Therefore, the values obtained through typhoon analysis are larger that those obtained through actual observation, and hence, it is resonable to use the analyzed valuse for design of the estuary dam and shore structures. (5) The greatest effect was had on the estuary dam when typhoon was proceeding at a velocity of 29.71m/sec in the direction of ${\alpha}$=120$^{\circ}$(SW) at a point of R=150km from the center of the typhoon.

댐하류하천정비사업의 댐 운영개선 효과 경제성 분석 (I) -용수공급 및 발전생산 회복편익 (Economic Analysis of Dam Operation Improvement by Dam Downstream River Improvement Works ( I )-Recovered Benefits of Water Supply and Hydropower Generation)

  • 댐의 계획과 설계단계에서 설정된 유효저수용량은 여러 가지 이유로 운영단계에서 잘 지켜지지 못하는 경우가 있다. 어떤 댐은 운영과정에서 내 외적인 주변여건의 변화로 본연의 운영목적을 달성하는데 어려움이 있을 수 있다. 따라서 이를 개선하기 위해서는 시설물의 목표 달성을 위한 기능회복이 적절히 이루어져야 하며, 관련 대안들이 마련되어야 한다. 특히댐 하류하천의 부적절한 관리는 댐의 홍수조절기능과 하천환경에 부정적인 영향을 미친다. 결국 댐의 다목적 기능을 정상화 시키고, 댐의 경제적 가치를 높이기 위한 댐하류하천정비가 댐사업자에 의해 진행되고 있다. 본 연구는 댐하류하천정비의 미흡으로 홍수조절을 위해 제약되었던 댐의 유효저수용량의 회복에 의한 이수편익을 분석하였다. 분석결과 임하, 대청 및 용담댐 등 3개댐에서 용수공급량은 19.9백만$m^3$/년 그리고 발전량은 20.8GWh/년이 증대되는 것으로 나타났다. 아울러 본 연구를 통해 얻어진 이수효과 정보는 댐직하류하천정비사업의 전체 경제성 평가 및 비용배분의 기초자료로 활용되었다.

화북 다목적댐 조경계획 (A Landscape Planning of Multi-purpose Dam in Hwabuk)

  • The Korea Water Resources Corporation(KOWACO) proposed bidding for an alternative design for Hwabuk Multi-purpose Dam in March of 2004. The site is located in Hakseong-ri, Goro-myeon, Gunwi-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do and has adrainage area of $87.52km^2$. The purpose of this project is to establish an environmentally friendly plan for minimizing the damage that was caused by the construction of the Hwabuk Multi-purpose Dam. The design principle of KOWACO was the restoration of the natural environment, a harmonious landscape, and the creation of a space of regional and local culture. The basic concept of this project involves an ecological-restoration axis and a functional-connection axis. The site is divided into four spaces: (1) the space of memory and symbol, (2) the space of nature and ecology, (3) the space of regional and local culture, and (4) the space of the regional economy. There are four sub-spaces in the space of memory and symbol: the track forest, the time forest, the memory room, and the sun plaza. There are three sub-spaces in the space of nature and ecology: the habitat of aquatic birds, the wind forest, and the eco-corridor. There are five themed parks in the space of regional and local culture: the culture and relic room, the wildflower garden, the ecological pond, the insect observation park, and the pyogo maze. There are three areas in the space of the regional economy: the forest pension, the waterside pension, and the community center, as Dungdungi village was reorganized to serve as a lodging complex. These themed parks, working together, can offer an effective space for nature, culture, rest, and experience.

QUAL II 모형의 금강수계에의 적용 (An Application of the QUAL II Model to the Keum River System)

  • 하용에서 수질 시뮬레이숀에 의한 시간적, 공간적 수질예측은 하용 수질관리를 위한 계획수립, 설계 및 모형의 최적화에 필요한 자료를 제공해 준다. 본 연구는 대청댐 하류에서 부여백제대교에 이르는 금강수계에서의 QUAL II 모형의 적용에 관한 것이다. QUAL II모형에서 사용된 물질수지방정식에 근거를 둔 대류-분석모형과 그 수치해석법을 제시하였다. 하용을 따르는 BOD, DO 및 수온의시뮬레이숀괍과 실측값과의 비교분석을 통한 모형의 활용성 제고에 역점을 두었다. 이러한 과정을 통해 금강에서의 하용수질을 평가하고, 탈산소 계수, 재폭기 계수 및 자정계수의 값을 추정하였다. 또한 대청댐 방류량 조절에 의한 목표하는 DO의 유지에 대하여 논의하였다.

수리계획 모형 자료구조를 활용한 수자원 운영 계획 시스템의 설계 (Design of Water Resource Planning System Utilizing Special Features in Mathematical Programming Data Structure)

  • Due to the complexities of the real-world system, a water resource management program has to deal with various types of data. It appears that management personnel who has to use the program usually suffers from the technical burdens of handling large amount of data and understanding the optimization theory when they try to interpret the results. By combining the capabilities of database technology and modeling technique with optimization procedure we can develop a reliable decision supporting tool for multi-reservoir operation planning, which yields operating schedule for each dam in a river basin. We introduce two special data handling methodology for the real world application. First, by treating dams, hydro-electric power generating facilities and demand sites as separate database tables, the proposed data handling scheme can be applied to general water resource system in Korea. Second, by assigning variable names using predetermined key words, we can save searching time for identifying the moaning of the variables, so that we can quickly save the results of the optimization run to the database.
