주성분분석 및 군집분석을 이용한 제주도 지하수위 변동 유형 분류 및 특성 비교 (Classification and Characteristic Comparison of Groundwater Level Variation in Jeju Island Using Principal Component Analysis and Cluster Analysis)

  • Water resources in Jeju Island are dependent virtually entirely on groundwater. For groundwater resources, drought damage can cause environmental and economic losses because it progresses slowly and occurs for a long time in a large area. Therefore, this study quantitatively evaluated groundwater level fluctuations using principal component and cluster analyses for 42 monitoring wells in Jeju Island, and further identified the types of groundwater fluctuations caused by drought. As a result of principal component analysis for the monthly average groundwater level during 2005-2019 and the daily average groundwater level during the dry season, it was found that the first three principal components account for most of the variance 74.5-93.5% of the total data. In the cluster analysis using these three principal components, most of wells belong to Cluster 1, and seasonal characteristics have a significant impact on groundwater fluctuations. However, wells belonging to Cluster 2 with high factor loadings of components 2 and 3 affected by groundwater pumping, tide levels, and nearby surface water are mainly distributed on the west coast. Based on these results, it is expected that groundwater in the western area will be more vulnerable to saltwater intrusion and groundwater depletion caused by drought.

  • The environment in Kosovo is a topic of concern for the citizens and the state because of the temperatures that affect the health of the citizens and the climate around the world. Kosovo's climate is related to its geographical position. Stretching in the middle latitude, Kosovo's climate depends on the amount of heat coming from the Sun, the proximity of the Adriatic Sea, the Vardar valley, the openness to the north. In order to better understand the climatic features of Kosovo, one must know the elements of the climate such as: sunshine, temperature, precipitation, atmospheric pressure, winds. The Meteorological Institute of Kosovo is responsible for measuring temperatures in Kosovo since 2014 and until now 12 meteorological stations have been operationalized with automatic measurement and real-time data transfer to the central system for data collection and archiving. The hydrometeorological institute lacks an application for measuring temperatures in all the countries of Kosovo. Software applications are generally built to suit the requirements of different governments and clients in order to enable easier management of the jobs they operate on. One of the forms of application development is the development of mobile applications based on android. The purpose of the work is to create a mobile application based on the Android operating system that aims to display information about the weather, this type of application is necessary and important for users who want to see the temperature in different places in Kosovo, but also the world. This type of application offers many options such as maximum temperature, minimum temperature, humidity, and air pressure. The built application will have real and accurate data; this will be done by comparing the results with other similar applications. Such an application is necessary for everyone, especially for those people whose daily work is dependent on the weather or even for those who decide to spend their vacations, such as summer or winter. In this paper, comparisons are also made within android applications for tablets, televisions and smart watches.

Suicide and Non-Suicidal Self-Injury From Internet Addiction Among Korean Adolescents

  • Objectives: This study examined the associations between Internet addiction and suicide and non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) among South Korean adolescents. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study of 1694 Korean adolescents. The suicidal Ideation Questionnaire and Deliberate Self-Harm Inventories were used to identify high-risk suicide and NSSI groups, respectively. Internet addiction was assessed using the Internet Addiction Scale. Other questionnaires included sociodemographic data, perceived academic stress, and daily life-related factors. We also performed a logistic regression analysis using the high suicide risk and NSSI groups as dependent variables. Results: The high suicide risk and NSSI prevalence rates among participants were 11.8% and 28.3%, respectively. A multivariable logistic regression analysis revealed that Internet addiction is associated with higher suicide risk and NSSI. Additionally, being female and academic stress were significant suicide risk factors, while male participants had a higher NSSI prevalence. Conclusion: Our results suggest that monitoring adolescents' Internet use and providing education to prevent Internet addiction would lower high suicide and NSSI risk. Moreover, suicide and NSSI risk screening in adolescents with Internet addiction and providing suitable interventions will be essential for the preventing suicide and NSSI.

냉담-무정서 특질이 소년범죄에 미치는 영향: 부모양육행동, 사회경제적 지위의 효과 (The Impacts of Callous-Unemotional Traits on Juvenile Crime: The effect of Parenting and Socioeconomic Status)

  • 본 연구는 냉담-무정서 특질의 하위요인인 냉담성, 부주의/무신경, 감정표현결여와 부모양육행동, 사회경제적 지위가 소년범죄에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고자 했다. 이를 위해 2016년 7월부터 2017년 3월까지 서울 소재 보호관찰소에서 만 15~17세의 소년법 위반 청소년 103명, 2018년 7월에 수도권 소재 고등학교 1, 2학년 123명의 자기보고식 자료를 수집하였다. 먼저 범죄 유무에 따라 주요 변인의 차이를 살펴본 결과, 범죄 집단이 일반 집단에 비해 냉담-무정서 특질의 부주의/무신경이 더 높았고, 사회경제적 지위가 더 낮았다. 또한, 두 집단 모두에서 냉담-무정서 특질 중 유일하게 부주의/무신경이 부모의 수용, 일상생활 모니터링과 유의미한 부적 상관을 나타냈다. 마지막으로, 부주의/무신경과 가정의 경제 수준이 소년범죄를 유의미하게 예측하였다. 이러한 결과는 냉담-무정서 특질이 높은 청소년은 범죄 유무와 상관없이 부모의 긍정적인 양육행동을 적게 지각함을 보여주며, 부주의/무신경과 가정의 경제 수준이 소년범죄의 발생에 기여하는 잠재적 요인임을 시사한다.

  • 현재 시각장애인들의 일상생활에 있어 많은 불편함을 겪고 있어 시각장애인에게 도움이 되고자 실시간 객체인식을 하여 보행환경의 정보를 전달하는 안경을 만드는 프로젝트를 진행하였다. 핵심 기능에 해당하는 객체인식은 인공지능 모델 YOLOv4가 사용되었으며, 시각장애인의 입장에서 걸어 다닐 때 인식 되어야 하는 객체들을 선정하고, 이들을 대상으로 학습 데이터를 재구성하고 YOLOv4의 재학습을 진행하였다. 학습 결과 모든 객체들에 대한 정확도는 68%를 보였으나 시각 장애인이 걸어다닐 때 인식되어야 하는 필수객체(Person, Bus, Car, Traffic_light, Bicycle, Motorcycle)들의 인식률은 84%로 측정되었다. 향 후 진행될 학습에선 더욱 다양한 방법으로 학습데이터를 확보하고, YOLOv4가 아닌 darkflow를 이용해 다양한 parameter로 학습을 진행하여 다면적인 성능비교가 필요하다.

Veterinary management protocol for non-human primates: quarantine, anesthesia, and postoperative care for mastoidectomy at animal research institutions

  • Non-human primate (NHP) research faces challenges due to zoonosis risk and complex veterinary management yet lacks standardized guidelines for animal care. Therefore, we developed an advanced veterinary management protocol for NHP quarantine, anesthesia, and postoperative care. Three female 4 to 5-year-old cynomolgus monkeys were anesthetized and underwent various tests, including body weight, temperature, blood tests, urinalysis, microbiological monitoring, and physical and dental examinations. Ivermectin and medicated baths were administered to eradicate ectoparasites and endoparasites, and testing was repeated 30 days later. Following quarantine, we performed computed tomography and anesthesia maintenance for mastoidectomy. To relieve pain and maintain body weight, we administered tramadol intramuscularly 4 times/day for 3 days and meloxicam subcutaneously twice daily for 14 days. Feed replacements were provided. During the 33-day quarantine period, physical examinations revealed no abnormalities indicative of infectious diseases, and no specific clinical symptoms were observed. Through a preliminary test of anesthesia time, we selected ketamine 4 mg/kg + medetomidine 50 ㎍/kg for short experiments such as computed tomography, and ketamine 8 mg/kg + medetomidine 50 ㎍/kg for intubation. Ten days after mastoidectomy, NHPs consumed 100 kcal/kg and recovered their body weight. This study offers advanced veterinary management guideline for NHP research. Such protocols can lead to more standardized and ethical practices in NHP research, thereby enhancing the quality of studies on NHPs and the translation of findings to human health and disease.

Utilizing the n-back Task to Investigate Working Memory and Extending Gerontological Educational Tools for Applicability in School-aged Children

  • In this research, a cohort of two children, aged 7-8 years, was selected to participate in a specialized three-week training program aimed at enhancing their working memory. The program consisted of three sessions, each lasting approximately 30 minutes. The primary goal was to investigate the impact and developmental trajectory of working memory in school-aged children. Working memory plays a significant role in young children's learning and daily activities. To address the needs of this demographic, products should offer both educational and enjoyable activities that engage working memory. Digital educational tools, known for their flexibility, are suitable for both older individuals and young children. By updating software or modifying content, these tools can be effectively repurposed for young learners without extensive hardware changes, making them both cost-effective and practical. For example, memory training games initially designed for older adults can be adapted for young children by altering images, music, or storylines. Furthermore, incorporating elements familiar to children, like animals, toys, or fairy tales, can increase their engagement in these activities. Historically, working memory capabilities have been assessed predominantly through traditional intelligence tests. However, recent research questions the adequacy of these behavioral measures in accurately detecting changes in working memory. To bridge this gap, the current study utilized electroencephalography (EEG) as a more sophisticated and precise tool for monitoring potential changes in working memory after the training. The research findings were revealing. Participants showed marked improvement in their performance on n-back tasks, a standard measure for evaluating working memory. This improvement post-training strongly supports the effectiveness of the training program. The results indicate that such targeted and structured training programs can significantly enhance the working memory abilities of children in this age group, providing promising implications for educational strategies and cognitive development interventions.

한의사 교의사업이 초등학생의 경추 자세 교정에 미치는 영향 (The effect of school doctor program on the cervical posture correction of elementary school students)

  • Objectives The main aim was to quantify forward head posture using POM Checker®, a postural balance analyzer, among elementary school students. Additionally, the study aimed to investigate whether postural imbalance improved following three sessions of the school doctor program focused on body posture correction. Methods The program was conducted as part of the school doctor program in Korean Medicine, featuring lectures by a designated Korean Medicine doctor at an elementary school. The curriculum covered the importance of maintaining correct posture and included posture correction exercises. Pre- and post-program self-reported surveys were administered, alongside postural measurements taken over three months at one-month intervals. The survey included data on gender, grade, lifestyle habits, and awareness of correct posture. Result Out of 73 participating students, 63 underwent body balance measurements from the upper grades of one elementary school. Survey results revealed significant variations in daily sitting hours and weekly exercise levels. Attendance at lectures increased knowledge about correct posture. Initial measurements of forward head posture categorized 41.0% and 1.6% of participants into caution and risk groups, respectively. After the second measurement, the caution group representation decreased to 3.2%, and by the third measurement, only 1.6% of participants remained in the caution group. Conclusions Improvements in the angle and understanding of forward head posture among elementary school students were observed before and after the Korean Medicine school doctor program. However, posture improvement may be temporary, necessitating consistent follow-up management and monitoring.

경기 북부 내 직거래 농산물의 잔류농약 실태조사 및 위해성 평가 (Monitoring and Risk Assessment of Pesticide Residues Farmers' Market Produce in Northern Gyeonggi-do)

  • 경기 북부 내 직거래 매장에서 유통 되는 농산물 207건을 수거하여 잔류농약의 실태를 조사하였다. 로컬푸드와 소비자생활협동조합(생협) 매장을 대상으로 일반농산물 94건, 친환경농산물 113건의 다소비 채소류를 수거하여 다종농약다성분 분석법으로 GC/ECD, GC/NPD, GC-MS/MS, LC/PDA, LC/FLD, LC-MS/MS를 이용하여 263종의 농약을 분석하였다. 잔류농약이 검출된 검체는 모두 로컬푸드 매장에서 수거한 일반 농산물로 14건의(6.8%) 시료에서 잔류농약이 검출되었고, 그 중 1건에서(0.5%) 잔류농약허용기준을 초과하였다. 총 16개 농약성분이 검출되었고 검출된 작물은 시금치, 얼갈이, 깻잎, 아욱, 오이, 부추, 미나리였다. 농약 검출량을 바탕으로 일일섭취추정량(EDI)과 일일섭취허용량(ADI)을 이용하여 위해성 평가를 하였으며, %ADI 값의 범위는 0.0134-61.6259%로 안전한 수준이었다.

충북지역 산지 고추와 유통 고춧가루 중 잔류농약 모니터링 및 위해성 평가 (Monitoring of pesticide residues in peppers from farmgate and pepper powder from wholesale market in Chungbuk area and their risk assessment)

  • 재배지 포장에서 채취한 풋고추와 홍고추, 열풍건조한 건고추 및 유통중인 고춧가루 중 농약 잔류량을 조사하고 그 안전성을 평가하기 위하여 충북지역의 10 농가에서 채취한 풋고추와 9 농가에서 채취한 홍고추, 청주시내 6개소의 대형유통마켓에서 채취한 8점의 고춧가루를 GLC-NPD/ECD와 HPLC로 분석하였다. 또한 건조에 따른 홍고추 중 농약잔류량 변화를 구명하기 위하여 농가에서 채취한 홍고추를 건조한 후 마쇄하여 농약잔류량을 분석하였다. 풋고추에서 9종, 홍고추와 건고추에서 12종 및 고춧가루에서 17종의 농약이 검출되었으며, 이 중 10종 농약(살균제 1성분과 살충제 9성분)이 잔류허용기준(MRL)을 초과하였다. MRL 초과율은 풋고추와 홍고추보다 건고추와 고춧가루에서 높았다. 일부 농약이 고추와 고춧가루에서 MRL을 초과하였으나 추정식이섭취량(EDI)은 ADI의 1.6% 미만으로 안전한 것으로 평가되었다. 또한 홍고추를 건조할 때 중량은 $5.9{\sim}7.8$배 감소하였으나 농약 잔류량은 $1.7{\sim}8.2$배 증가하여 고춧가루의 농약잔류허용기준 적용에 대한 재검토가 필요한 것으로 판단되었다.
