This study was performed to determine sequence variation and RFLP of the mt DNA D-loop region using Southern blot hybridization analysis and to develop mt DNA marker affecting milk production traits in Hanwoo cows. The PCR was used to amplify an 1142 bp fragment within the D-loop region of mt DNA using specific primers. Mt DNA were digested with seven restriction enzymes and hybridized using DIG-labeled D-loop probe. The mt DNA RFLP polymorphisms were observed in the four enzymes, BamHI, RsaI, XbaI and HpaII. Nucleotide substitutions were detected at positions 441 (G/C), 469 (T/C), 503 (C/T), 569 (G/A), 614 (C/A) and 644 (C/T) of the mt DNA D-loop region between two selected lines. Significant relationship between the XbaI RFLP type and breeding value was found(p<0.05). Cows with A type had higher estimated breeding values than those with B type (P<0.05) between high and low milk production lines. Therefore, the RFLP marker of mt DNA could be used as a selection assisted tool for individuals with high milk producing ability in Hanwoo.

A total of 371 weaned pigs were used in three experiments to evaluate the effects of spray dried plasma (SDP), soybean protein sources, and lactose on growth performance. In Exp. 1, 128 pigs (5.99 kg, $18{\pm}2d$) were used to evaluate the effect of SDP (0 vs 7%), lactose (0 vs 30%), and two soybean protein sources [soybean meal (SBM) and extruded soybean protein concentrate (ESPC)] in phase I (d 0 to 14) diets on pig performance in a $2{\times}2{\times}2$ factorial arrangement. Spray-dried plasma increased phase I ADG (p<0.01) and ADFI (p<0.05) in the SBM diets, but not in the ESPC diets. Lactose improved ADG and gain/feed ratio (G/F) in phase I (p<0.01). In Exp. 2, 144 pigs (5.50 kg, $17{\pm}3d$) were used to evaluate the effect of SDP (0 vs. 3.5%) and three soybean protein sources [SBM, ESPC, and soybean protein concentrate (SPC)] in phase I diets, and the effects of two different phase II (d 14 to 28) diets (simple vs complex) in a $2{\times}3{\times}2$ factorial arrangement of treatments. In phase I, SDP increased ADG (p<0.01) and improved G/F (p<0.05). Pigs fed SBM had the highest ADG and ADFI, with a G/F similar to the pigs fed ESPC. In phase II, pigs fed the complex diet had improved ADG (p<0.01), ADFI (p<0.05), and G/F (p<0.05) compared to the simple diet. In Exp. 3, 99 weaned pigs (5.77 kg, $17{\pm}3$d) were used to evaluate the effect of SBM, ESPC, and ESPC with SDP in the phase I diets. Pigs fed SBM with no blood product in the diet had the lowest ADG (p<0.01), ADFI (p<0.01), and G/F (p<0.05) in the first week of phase I. There were no differences in soybean protein sources fed in phase I diets on overall pig performance. These experiments are indicated that SDP and lactose improve the phase I performance. Soybean meal can be used as the major protein source in phase I diets with SDP.

The photoluminescened experiments at temperature of 10K were carride out for ZnSe epilayers grown by hot-wall epitaxy. The upper and lower polariton peaks of the neutral dound exciton $I_2$($D^{\circ}$,X) for as-grown epilayer have been dominantly observed. For the heat-treatment under Se ambient, the origin of $I_2$ emission is confirmed to be related to Se-vacancy.The extra neutral acceptor bound exciton $I_1$$^d$ is also observed. The ZnSe epilayer shows the self-compensation effect and it is hard to be converted into p-type ZnSe epilayer. However, the photoluminescence spectrum of the annealed sample in Se ambient shows the intense $I_1$$^d$ emission. This indicates that in the annealed ZnSe epilayer, there are many acceptor levels due to the opical p-type converstion. The binding energy of acceptor-impurity is ecaluated to the value of 268meV and the self-activated emission is disappeared by thermal annealing under Se ambient, which indicates the association with Se-vacancy.
Twelve adult male crossbred (Sahiwal${\times}$Holstein Friesian) cattle were distributed into four groups of three each on body weight basis. Animals were given wheat straw as a basal diet. The animals of group I and II were supplemented with concentrate mixture and animals of group III and IV were supplemented with cold processed urea molasses mineral block (UMMB). Thirty mg monensin/day/animal was supplemented to the animals of group II and 35 ppm monensin were incorporated in the UMMB supplemented to the animals of group IV. Vit.A and D mixture was given to all the animals once a week. Dry matter (DM) intake (kg/d) through wheat straw was 19.0 percent higher in the UMMB (without monensin) supplemented group (group III) than those of the concentrate mixture (without monensin) supplemented group i.e. group I. Total DM intake (kg/d) was lower in the monensin supplemented groups than those of non-supplemented groups though differences were not statistically significant. Digestible dry matter, organic matter (OM), crude protein (CP) and total digestible nutrients (TDN) intake were similar in all the groups. Average block consumption for 45 d period in the group III (0.95 kg/d) and group IV (0.84 kg/d) did not differ significantly. DM digestibility (%) was significantly (p<0.01) higher in the group II (58.9) as compared to the group I (52.7) and group III (54.0) but similar to the group IV (57.2). OM digestibility was also significantly (p<0.05) higher in the group II (63.2) as compared to that of the group I (54.9) but similar to the group III (57.8) and IV (59.2). Ether extract (EE) digestibility was significantly (p<0.01) higher in the group I (76.9) and II (80.3) as compared to the group III (59.87) and IV (55.77). Nitrogen free extract (NFE) digestibility was significantly (p<0.05) higher in the group II (62.38) as compared to that of the other groups. Crude protein (CP) and crude fibre (CF) digestibilities were not affected either due to UMMB or monensin. Nitrogen balance did also not differ significantly among the groups. However, Ca and P balance (g/d) in the group III (3.1, 1.3) and IV (3.0, 1.4) were significantly (p<0.01) higher than those of the group I (0.6, 0.2) and II (0.4, 0.3). Blood glucose (mg/100ml) was significantly (p<0.01) higher in the group II (65.2) and IV (65.2) as compared to the group I (55.2) and group III (53.9). Plasma urea-N level (mg/100 ml) in the group III (19.0) and IV (17.8) were significantly (p<0.01) higher than that of the group I (10.5) and II (12.3). So, monensin supplementation either with cold process UMMB or concentrate mixture did not show any additional effect on feed intake and digestibility but increases blood glucose level in adult cattle.
Wild type nodulin 26(nod 26) cDNA(S262) and phodphorylation aite mutant(S262D) were constructed by a yeast expression system using pYES2 plasmids(pTES2-D262 and pTES2-S262D) were sc-reened by restriction mapping with BamHI of KpnI. S262 nod 26 contained a sreine residue at position 262 and S262D nod 26 contained the substitution mutation of serine to aspartic acid residue at position 262 were verified by automated floursent DNA sequencing.
Let $X_1$, $X_2$, ${\cdots}$, $X_n$ be i.i.d. uniform (0,1) random variables. Let $f_n(x)$ denote the probability density function (p.d.f.) of $T_n={\sum}^n_{i=1}X_i$. Consider a set S(x ; ${\delta}$) of lattice points defined by S(x ; ${\delta}$) = $x{\mid}x={\delta}+j$, j=0, 1, ${\cdots}$, n-1, $0{\leq}{\delta}{\leq}1$} The lattice distribution induced by the p.d.f. of $T_n$ is defined as follow: (1) $f_n^{(\delta)}(x)=\{f_n(x)\;if\;x{\in}S(x;{\delta})\\0\;otherwise.$. In this paper we show that $f_n{^{(\delta)}}(x)$ is a probability function thus we obtain a family of lattice distributions {$f_n{^{(\delta)}}(x)$ : $0{\leq}{\delta}{\leq}1$}, that the mean and variance of the lattice distributions are independent of ${\delta}$.

I $n_{0.53}$G $a_{0.47}$As/I $n_{0.52}$A $l_{0.48}$As pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistor (P-HEMT) structures were grown on semi-insulating InP substrates by molecular beam epitzxy method. The hall effect measuremetn was used to measure the electrical properties and the photoluminescence (PL) measurement was used to measure the electrical properties and the photoluminescence(PL) measurement for optical propety. By the cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy (XTEM) investigation of the V and X shape defects including slip with angle of 60.deg. C and 120.deg. C to surface in the sampel, the defects formation mecahnism in the I $n_{0.52}$A $l_{0.48}$As epilayers on InP substrates could be explained with the different thermal expansion coefficients between I $n_{0.52}$A $l_{0.48}$As epilayers and InP substrate.d InP substrate.
This paper contains the following errors. 1. "$I_{\{x>D\}}{\lambda}dt_{p0}(t)s(x)$" should be added to the right hand side of (2.3). 2. "$I_{\{x>D\}}{\lambda}_{p0}(t)s(x)$" should be added to the right hand side of (2.6). 3. "$I_{\{x>D\}}{\lambda}_{p0}s(x)$" should be added to the right hand side of (2.9). 4. In Theorem 2.3 and its proof, "${\lambda}{\int}_{0}^{D}f(y)s(x-y)dy$" appears three times (including one in (2.20)). To each of these, "${\lambda}_{po}s(x)$" should be added. 5. In Remark 2.5, "${\lambda}dt_{p0}/s(x)dx" should be added to "${\int}_{0}^{D}{\lambda}dt\;s(x-y)dxf(y)dy$". As a result of these corrections, a simpler proof of Theorem 2.3 becomes available. Substituting (2.18), (2.21), (2.22) into the left hand side of (2.20) and comparing the result with (2.10), we have the right hand side of (2.20).
A series of dilatometer test, field vane test, and $CK_0U$ triaxial test were performed for clayey soils of Busan new port site to develop the relationships between undrained shear strength and the DMT results. Normalized undrained shear strength is turned out to be $S_{u(CKU)}/{\sigma}'_v=0.30{\sim}0.35\;for\;CK_0U$ triaxial test and ${\mu}S_{u(VST)}/{\sigma}'_v=0.20{\sim}0.22$ for vane shear test. By comparing the undrained shear strength estimated from DMT indices with the results measured by in-situ vane test or $CK_0U$ triaxial test, two methods to predict the undrained shear strength from DMT results are suggested. One is based on the relationship between $S_u/{\sigma}'_v$ and horizontal stress index (KD) while another method comes from $N_c-I_D$ and $N_c-E_D$ correlation. It was observed that the method based on $N_c-I_D\;or\;N_c-E_D$ relation shows slightly better accuracy than the one based on $K_D$ although all of the methods suggested in this study provided comparable values of predicted undrained shear strength. Since the definitions of $I_D\;and\;E_D$ contain $p_1-p_0$, in which soil condition is reflected, it is believed that the prediction method using $N_c$ is capable of taking a material type into consideration.
